As long as we have so many players without confidence and form, we will have to play more controlled. That is why I hope for this line-up:
    .....................De Gea.................
    Bissaka..Maguire.Jones..Shaw
    ......................Matic................
    .........McTominay.Fred..............

    Bruno.............................Rashford
    .................Greenwood.............

Jones hasn’t played for a long time, but he can’t possibly do worse than Lindelöf and Bailly.

Pogba is not good enough in his current form.

    Surely VDB starts.

That is an absolute disgrace, ain’t paying that. Robbers.
Be really interesting to know how many people actually end up paying it, especially as anyone with Sky/BT has grown used to all games being televised since the pandemic.

Such a hilariously large amount of money to watch United most likely play not very well against Newcastle.

I was expecting that 'knock' line about Maguire. It's clear as day he needs a break. I hope he gets it. A few games out to clear his head and regain form will be of benefit in the long run. We're fecked anyway if we can't play a couple games without him. Injuries happen even at the best of times. It'll be a tough game. I think most of Newcastle squad haven't been away on the international break, so they'll be much better prepared than us.

Newcastle injury concern ahead of United fixture
Steve Bruce says that Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka’s return from a heel injury is taking longer than expected with Karl Darlow set to face United tomorrow night.

“We thought he’d be more advanced - it’s not.

“It’s fair to say it’s slower than we’d like. We will have to let nature take its course.”
Guaranteed Darlow's going to have an absolute worldie against us tomorrow.

Lots of really interesting posts in here from people letting everyone know they won’t be bothering to watch tomorrow. Cheers smooth brains!

I would agree with dropping Maguire only if it were possible to simultaneously drop the rest of the back 4 as well. That was a collective feckpie and by only dropping one you’re effectively exonerating the rest. Need a big showing here and I’m backing them to get the job done. Come on United!

“We know we’ve started the season badly and that game ended really badly, we started well and after the sending off with 10 men we couldn’t hold on or get a result"

It's that kind of retrospective analysis that bugs me. We got a very early goal, but it happened so early that it wasn't indicative of how we played; of course, despite the goal we played horribly. Spurs could have scored 3 or 4 on the break even before the sending off. This is the kind of comment that bugs me. We were poor with 11 men; 10 men wasn't the cause of our loss. We were going to lose regardless.

I expect a reaction after the 6-1. That will have hurt our players egos and will get them fired up. Perhaps the type of result we need to kick start the season.

A lot of the results falls on Maguires shoulders though, i'm hoping Ole does the sensible thing and exagerates his knock and rests him for a week or two. Give our other CBs a chance to fill in.

Yeah he gave himself an out with that 'knock' comment.

He could well leave him out. I'm expecting a reaction too. If they aren't motivated for this one we're going to be in trouble this season.

I’m guessing lockdown taught everyone how to find and use streams. The supply has dramatically increased as there are so many available nowadays.

    doubt many will pay.

Feels like a Late goal for the Barcodes to win the game.
They don't need late goals to beat us. We are the ones who need a late goal, to win matches.
And don't get me started on penalties - can we win a match without a penalty?

I expect Newcastle to stamp their authority on us. We'll play like the plucky underdog and aim to hit them on the counter.

    Hoping to see;

    Henderson
    AWB. Bailly. Maguire. Telles
    McTom Fred VDB
    Bruno
    Greenwood. Rashford

Think we need to start phasing Henderson in and looking to get what we can for DDG while we can.

Shaw has to drop out for me, his positional play has got so bad he’s leaving our left wide open, plus I want to see what Telles can provide.

Think we need both Fred and McTom to shore up the back line as our CB’s are horrific atm, plus they played a huge part in our best run of form last season.

I’d personally not play Pogba in the first XI unless we had no other choice. Just bring in on in games we are winning easily as they are the only ones he’s interested in anyway.

    What I think we’ll see;

    DDG
    AWB. Bailly. Maguire. Shaw
    Matic. Pogba
    Bruno
    Mata. Greenwood. Rashford

The last time this was celebrated as ‘fergie time’ if i am not wrong. Now its become a mark of failure for us.

There are many ways to skin a cat, or win a football match, and counter-attack is one of them.

“We [Manchester City] use counter-attacks. It is a strong weapon. The biggest teams use all the weapons they can use.” (Pep Guardiola)
“Of course Jürgen Klopp is a master for the counter-attacks. With three or four touches they [Liverpool] arrive in the finishing area.” (Pep Guardiola)

Point is, to use the right tools to defeat an opponent and get the 3 points in the League and the win in a Cup game. When Inter used this tactic to win the Champions League final against Bayern Munich, I don't think any Inter fan complained.

Telles unlikely to start since he's just arrived back. I suspect Pogba will start on the bench and even Matic too.

    This is what I'm expecting:

    -------------------de Gea
    AWB--Lindelof----Maguire--Shaw
    ----------VdB-------------Fred
    ------------------Bruno
    Mata------Greenwood-----Rashford

Edit: Is Pellistri in the squad?

Jones is a walking disaster and Maguire has been awful since restart. That is probably the worst paring we could go for. I would rather have Mengi than Jones and Bailey than Maguire. Maguire has had enough chances but is failing at every level. The guy needs 2 weeks off footbl to fix his head.

Ole needs to make serious changes to the squad to send a message. Maguire and Pogba need to be dropped after Spurs and on recent form. AWB also needs to think about his form. Personally, I want to see Hendo start.

    Hendo
    Williams Bailey Shaw Telles
    Fred DVB
    Bruno
    Mata Rashford
    Greenwood

I see Williams as a right back, not left. Let's see what he can do there. Right wkng I struggled, but Mata can do a job better than James. Fred and DVB to support Bruno. No Matic or Pogba please. If Ighalo starts ahead of Greenwood in the middle, i just don't know what to say anymore.
