I’m not paying out of principle

if every match for every club was PPV with no need to subscribe to any sports channel then fair enough but paying for sky sports and having to then pay to watch Utd on top I refuse to do.

Not for £15 and not for a Newcastle game.

Rather listen on radio and MOTD later
Again they should have looked at the NFL style packages and done a lump sum for all United games. I’d probably not even subscribe to SS if that was the case.

Absolutely. Per stream the money going to a label is fractions of a penny. That then has to be split up. If you’re releasing independently you’re still getting a pittance, even huge bands in the area I really love, critically acclaimed bands who sell out tours and play huge festival slots like Mastodon, earn nothing from the music and rely on touring and march to make money. Here are a couple of links for starters! Huge numbers of streams still earn laughably little for an artist sadly.

Wow, that’s crazy! I mean, I knew that artists get most of their money from shows and stuff but I didn’t know the streaming money is so little. It makes sense though because now that I think about it every other artist, particularly rappers, has a clothing line or some sort of merch and tours frequently.

Exactly! Merch is everything which is really cool in a way, but a bit sad when what you really love and are sharing is your music. It stops artists releasing an album every five years and being lazy, but I think I’m the only person still buying CDs, I like the artwork etc.

Get yourself a IPTV box guys and watch everything for free
Hi. Would you mind sending me a PM with some details on this? Just looking for info in terms of reliability and cost etc. I figure this isn't allowed to be discussed on an open forum.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the days of CD sales, wasn't it the case that most of the money went to the record companies, and the artists themselves made very little from the actual sales of albums as well?

Also while I'm not in the UK, anyone that pays this is part of the problem. There's only so much you can gouge the common man that's just trying to enjoy something that takes their mind off the banality that is everyday life

It’s about time the Premier League just had their own app and charged £30 a month to watch every game. Scrap Sky, scrap BT. It’s such an obvious thing to do yet they don’t want to do it.

The law on 3pm games needs to a change as well, especially given fans can’t attend matches at the moment. It’s bizarre I can live in Papa New Guinea and watch every single game on a package deal yet living in England restricts me to maybe 4 televised games and having to pay a fortune to watch them. Is it like that in Germany for the Bundesliga for example? America with the NFL?

I’m genuinely gutted as I really wanna watch us, like I do all games, however I pay enough for Sky and I refuse to pay for what basically is a pre season friendly pace game.

DO not be messaging me streams for this on my Iphone!!!

yes, but with streaming its literally pittance to the artist compared to what CDs were. Anyway, feck the Glazers, BT, Sky, Woodward and the music industry

The problem with all of this, as it always was, is that the corporate entities who don't actually do anything want to make more money than everyone else, and so everyone else involved has to work around that. Feck them all, as you say.

I quite enjoy listening to games on the radio, so I'll just do that.

I haven't read the whole of the thread but do Skysport have a legal right to make viewers pay more for this game since we/I have already paid for Skysport to watch football?

Question for anyone who knows their stuff: I don’t have sky or BT on my TV, but my TV can download apps like Netflix etc - is there an app I can download to pay for the game on box office? Seems strange that they’d limit ability to pay for it to existing customers, but I can’t find an alternative. Any help appreciated, cheers.

Cheers. I suppose I meant more the reliability of the football broadcasts if you decide to pay a subscription etc.

Suppose they can because this is a different deal to the rest of the games they show, as these game were not scheduled to be broadcast.

They normally only cost 60/70 a year so if it goes off you ain't losing out on much . It's worth the risk

Enjoy the game. Can't bring myself to spend more on this than I already do. Personally I think the fans are getting fleeced and it's time to make a stand.

Yes but it was still more going to the artist, and budgets for recordings were higher as CDs actually made money. An artist who was doing well was making money and setting themselves up to make more in future, and/or also paying off advances for recordings and tours etc, money which is no longer there because no one is buying the product. It’s a much smaller pie now as well as less of it going to artists. The best way to buy music is on bandcamp. Even if you only then stream it, money will have gone to the band.

Nope, I already pay a minimum of £1300 to watch United a season (inc Season ticket and BT Sports Tv Package) just getting ridiculous now.

The money is being filtered down through the league's, I'm happy with it.

You are everything that is wrong with football today .
Why?
Please explain.
So I can't go watch United at OT, instead I'll pay 15 quid and watch on TV with the money going to the lower leagues to support football clubs in crisis.
Is that wrong?

Money is not helping lower league clubs that is complete nonsense.

It is gullible idiots like you paying for this that will lead to it being the norm in no time .

Just because you don't mind getting ripped off doesn't mean the rest of us have to suffer but that's what is coming

Why isn't VDB playing? Feck. We are lack lustre. We are relying on a 35 yr old as our best playmaker. This sucks!

Sorry, but what evidence do you have to suggest the money isn't helping the lower leagues?

The evidence I have to suggest it is comes from the premier League, BT and Sky.
