Mata feels so incredibly productive in matches like last night, I was one of the ones who felt he was done at top level but he keeps showing he has something left in the tank, maybe he deserves some minutes in our next PL match.
Absolutely no reason why he can't play. He's only 32 and his game has never been about pace. Used right, he can be the difference.

He has been terrible in most matches. Yes he was brilliant against Brighton in the Cup. Can the GifLord put the Mata sprint where he outpaced the Brighton player?

He could have played more minutes and created more chances if Ole made his subs around 60 min mark. But Ole takes it to 86 mins most of the time.

It's weird how bad we are at set pieces with so many good set piece takers in our team.

Was man of the match against Brighton but unfortunately if we are in need of a goal with 10 minutes to go against spurs, ole will still throw on the hapless james over mata.

Looked a genius at youth level

feck I love Juan Mata. He's just so ridiculously adorable. It looks like his 32 year old head has been attached to an 18-year-old body in this video (like of of those jibjab gifs.) One of a handful of footballers I'd love to have a beer with (others would include Roy Keane, Berbatov and Cantona.)

I really think Mata should be an integral part of our squad this season, not just brought out for the Carabao Cup games. He is so intelligent and links very well with quality players like Fernandes and Van De Beek. People talk about his lack of pace, but his speed of thought makes up for a lot of that, in my opinion. I also love the crispness of his passing - his passes consistently played ahead of the recipient (it drives me crazy how often passes are played behind the recipient causing them to break stride.)

Whilst Mata doesn't have the pace to play on the wing, the fact that he drifts inside allows us to keep the ball better and have a better flow to our game, which I feel is something we've lacked at times, especially this season.

If we don't sign a winger in the transfer window, I wouldn't mind us using him as a roaming winger.

I'd also like to see us swap to a 433, to try and get best out of both, Pogba and Bruno.

Rashford Martial Mata
Pogba Matic Bruno
Shaw Maguire Bailly Wan-Bissaka
De Gea

I think Mata problem was a lack of like minded players to play with(Fellaini,Lukaku,Lingard),but now we play with more technically gifted and intelligent players in the side (Martial, Fernandes,Pogba, van De beek) remember his impact against Copenhagen??...he could be very useful against opponent we're trying to dominate,His is definitely better than Lingard and James on the right wing

Was watching his 50 goals for United compilation yesterday on Youtube and he's got such a sweet striking technique, very distinct.

Footballing smarts make him contribute more than if he was a better athlete.

Mata is going to be a key player this season now that we didn't get a RW. He's been arguably the best player on the pitch in both games he's started this season and should be second-choice after Greenwood. I think he'll play way more games than I thought two months ago.

If we are playing a more possession-based game, he should definitely start. If we are setting up to counterattack, please don't play him on the right wing.

Are the reports true that he turned down 20million euros to go to Saudi?

Should start against Newcastle.

Earned it through form and horror show from other attsckers recently.

Newcastle will sit in their box and defend. Perfect game for him.

Class.

His use of the ball today was first rate. Just constantly making the right decision and doing so with quality.

Hats off to him, he's started this season really well.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Easily our MOTM. Seems he still has a lot to offer us actually.

He's in fine form and fully justifying his place at the club.

He was at the centre of nearly everything positive we did today. Hopefully this is not a one-off from him. He has a role to play and it's up to OGS to find that.

First-choice right-winger after that performance? I'd say so.

Gives us much more movement and intelligence when we have the ball. We actually look like we have a game plan when he plays.

One of his best performance recently. He should be starting on the right when we play against teams that are expected to defend deep.

He's just so fecking classy, what an Indian summer he's having. Looks a brilliant player to have in our squad.
