Even when he’s poor he still effects the game massively. Could have had a hat trick today, and today was a quiet day!

I get frustrated with his passing at times but when they come off they are spectacular. He’s a very good footballer but I think his best attribute is his mentality. Even when he’s having a bad game (pre the goal his second half was woeful) he never lets his head drop & never hides, he’s a real winner, something you can’t teach.

Also, bring back the hop!

He’s a funny player isn’t he.

Ranges from awful to world class within the space of minutes

his penalty was really out of character, but then a beautiful goal and a cracking assist. The main thing is he never gives up and always works hard

Someone on the match thread wanted him subbed off after the penalty miss :houllier:

His mentality is what makes him as a player, it's amazing how his head didn't drop after the penalty and all those missed passes.

I think the penalty miss was more of a symptom why some would want him gone rather than the reason. I think you have to live with those poor moments from Bruno because he just keeps plugging at it and never gives up, which will end up winning you games.

Does my head in people screaming take him off when he can set up and score like that. He's been the most important link to creating since he came, couldn't give a fcuk if he missed 10 pens last season, it's the link up play that is tremendous.

Can't get more top corner than that as well, incredible.

It's posts like these that make me want to stay away from this site.
It is ridiculous. Even if a player contributes as much as Bruno does in a game or in many games, we have that kind of shite posts.
Our expectations on players are pretty ridiculous at times.

I disagree with those saying he was terrible before the goal and assists. He had a terrible spell in the 2nd half but in the first half I thought he was excellent. His passing was far better than it had been in the last few months other than that poor spell. He also had a beauty correctly disallowed.

There is no doubt he is our star man.

I honestly think his best attribute is his self belief. He could play 5 bad passes in a row and he will still keep trying it if he thinks it is on.

He reminds me of Lampard.
Same with penalties, you know he'll be ready and willing to take the next one. His attitude is superb.

Reminds me of how Rooney used to be, in that he can have poor performances but still contribute with a goal/assist.

He just needs to realise that every pass doesn't have to be a through ball. It often breaks down in the final third with him because he tries to force it. Think if he works on that then he'll be even better. That said, another goal and assist for him tonight. Decent performance.

He had a couple of threatening passes through the middle too. 1 to Mata, and 1 to Pogba who couldn't get it to VDB.

Agreed. Bruno makes things happen, even if he’s having a poor game. What a player.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Overall he was pretty damn good, but I think he gave the ball away every time he had it for the 5-10 minutes directly before his goal. As good as it is when it comes off, sometimes he goes overboard and it just makes it harder for us to actually build anything. It can be understandable when he's trying something special, but sometimes he has a tendency to make easy things far more difficult than they should be.

Fully agree.

His passing accuracy was 80%. Higher than his average for last season.

He's the catalyst in this team.

I think he does that in part due to the movement in the final third being very static.

You see when Mata is close to him he starts to play some lovely stuff. Same in our purple patch after lockdown when Martial and Greenwood were picking up good positions.

Absolutely terrible display. Im
Being serious he was utter shite but his goal was class and the ball for Rashford at the end. Love the player but he was so bad today which is crazy given he got a goal and an assist
What a truly terrible terrible post

Couldn't watch today but always amuses me to see 2 assists, a goal and a disallowed goal yet half the match thread is calling him shit.

I think he was playing well even before that goal. Some vital passes and good link ups with Mata. His best performance for a while.

He was nowhere near as bad as some people were making out in the match thread. He was about par for the course then had a very sloppy 10 minutes and apparently that makes it "his worst ever appearance in a United shirt". He's a bit of a moments player, I think we know that at this point, but he's so insanely productive it just doesn't matter. He scored, got an assist and had a lovely finish (correctly) ruled out for offside. Shouldn't have changed his run up for the penalty though.

Man misses a penalty and couldn't give 2 shits. Kept trying to make risky passes and hustling players on the pitch. Ends up with a great goal and beautiful assist. The man is just pure output.

Point taken, but then I would argue if the pass is not there, don't play it.

What we lack or have lacked is a flow to our game. If we lose it every time we attack (and i'm not saying this is Bruno) then we struggle to peg teams back and often get hit on the counter.

He's on a different level to the current squad. He would be a star in a SAF era also.

Class again and showed leadership again after missing his penalty. Top class

Showed why he's a top player and why he stays on the pitch. Had a goal ruled out for offside, missed a pen, had some tough periods in the game but then scored an excellent finish and the great assist. Just never stops.

The stats don't really sum up his performance. He was pretty erratic for much of the game - often out and out poor - but delivered some moments of true quality. The guy's an enigma.

He was playing as a midfielder/wide midfielder as the game progressed and I loved his partnership with Pogba.

In my opinion he doesnt bring anything in CAM that he couldn't bring as a CM that can get forward.

I don't think that's ever gonna happen with him. It's part of who he is.
I agree mate.

I think though with his output it'll be accepted and rightly so. He's clearly a 'high risk' player with his passing and how he plays stylistically, which will inevitably lead to some sloppy passes and giving the ball away.

Hmm, I actually think he strikes a good middle ground. His passing accuracy stats are generally quite good for a player in that position who is relied on as the main creative spark. I remember Giggs used to get a lot of criticism for losing the ball too much when he played central and tried to make things happen.

I accept it easily tbh. He will piss me off during moments of the game but I will never want him to be subbed (unless he is injured or is close to be sent off) because he is so so decisive. We need safe players and we need risky type of players.

It does sum him up though. It was the same at Sporting. He gives away the ball a lot but he makes goal contributions every game. He has been doing this for a good 4 years now

Aye definitely. If it wasn't for his insane numbers and moments of magic, I wouldn't be half as tolerant.

Why? I love him but he was so bad tonight. I accept he takes risks with the ball but he literally didn’t find a team mate till the last 10 mins. Might be controversial but his general play was bad today
