Fair enough.

I think your first point may be somewhat valid, I think he does identify the weakness, he's just not replaced them well enough. The fullbacks being an example of that, he spent something crazy on fullbacks and none of them are particularly that good.
Yup, Mancini wanted to replaced Joe Hart (after he won 3 consecutive Golden Gloves) with Costel Pantilimon. Sounds about right.

Really short in the post-match interview today  made the interviewer squirm.

He also doesn't look as coked up thesedays, that wide-eyed agitated look has worn off. Completely jaded.

I reckon he's off at the end of the season.

End of this season

They'll be fine once Aguero is up and running (if he's not injured). They cut West Ham open but couldn't put anything away after the equalizer.

Plus, they look more solid defending. Last season they would have conceded 3 goals easily.

no doubt one of the most overrated managers in in football history. I hope he gets Messi next season.

No idea how Mahrez and Rodri stayed on the pitch for 90 mins. Some terrible decisions again.

You love to see it. Always thought he lucked out at Barca by getting 4/5 generational players in their prime. Won the league with Bayern, but who wouldn't? And hasn't managed to progress City. They play great possession football, but it's not getting them any nearer the CL

Still fully dependent on the players he inherited, 600 million pounds on. Disastrous.

Spent big, got his peak and can’t sustain success with the best team and the most money. Top prize is also off limits.

I enjoy seeing it, I won’t lie, because it really does put how great Ferguson was into perspective.

Where the grass is greener.
Does Pep pick his transfers? What is their structure. They spaffed so much money on so little long term quality, and as Utd fans we know a thing or two about hat.

If he'd have came to us after Fergie it would have ruined him. His recruitment at shity has been atrocious. In his time there, the players signed by previous managers have still been the backbone of the team, Aguero, David Silva, De Bruyne, Fernandinho and Kompany. Mancini was a much better manager for shity in my opinion.

You forgot to mention Sterling too. His best signings have been Ederson and Bernado. However Bernado hasn’t looked the same since 18/19.

He’s probably been the most fortunate manager in history. Good to know that he’s finally been found out.

He'll be gone soon, year off and off to International football for a bit.
That team looked tired and devoid of ideas. They now go long spells in games where they cant get a shot on goal.
If he leaves like this, 2 league titles in 5 seasons is a failure.

They've lost the edge they had with the likes of Silva, Toure and Kompany at their peaks. Aguero is regularly injured and they've not replaced the quality of Sane from 18/19. I'd still have them favourites for the league but they aren't streets ahead like they were.

He is tactically still one of the best. Just very poor in the market.
The squad is not that great anymore.

Did find it strange that so many seemed to think "City are the only guaranteed top 4 place", they're dreadful and they're nowhere near as good as Liverpool, I honestly think we have a good chance of finishing above them if we get our act together. Unless things change drastically I think Guardiola might leave at the end of the season, things have gone stale and he's having to rebuild one of his teams for the first time which is a feat he's struggling with. They've lost all their Mancini-era leaders and it's showing, he's a wonderful manager but he had some serious luck with the players he inherited at City.

I'm also not sure we'll ever see a City side as good as the one from this decade, it'll take a long time and some considerable luck to replicate the core of players they had.

Better than Fergie they cried. Yeah right.
No one has said this.

What is it about Pep that brings out asinine hot takes on the Caf? Similar for Zidane (his thread is a car crash).

People are way too hursh on him to be honest. I will agree that he's somewhat overrated by his fans but still definitely one of the best managers ever. Top 10-20 in history for me.

Plenty said it when they got more Pts than any Utd team ever two seasons running.

Context wasn't applied though. Fergie may have broke pts records in this era too. We will never know though I suppose.

Pep has been and still is a top Coach but he's no Fergie.

To think Guardiola didn't even fancy aguero when he took over and was very fortunate that aguero showed loyalty and was willing to sit on the bench and fight to get back in the side. Imagine where city would be without his goals had he decided to go some where else when that happened as it didn't seem like Guardiola would have put up much of a fight at the time of him leaving.

Would've been better if they cashed in on him, he's been injury prone and misses a lot of games his replacement was Auba, since 16/17 season Aguero has missed 45 games and Auba only 4 games. I don't think he was wrong with that if that what he wanted Auba would've been great with this team.

He's won the league in three different countries and he's overrated
You must be kidding, he had arguably the best 3-4 players in the world at Barca in their peak and at Bayern my granny cand coach them and still win de Bundesliga.

I actually feel his only good effort was at City.

Nevertheless, he spent outrageous money on players and his teams crumble after 2-3 seasons. After 2-3 seasons the real fun starts, as he never was capable of rebuilding a team.

He is not overrated, but no way in hell you can think about him as the super mega footballing genius his fans paint him to be.

He was actually the one who started this Barca golden age and definitely made a revolution there at this time. This period can't be taken against him no matter what. For Bayern yeah I agree.

Nah, he has a very specific way of how his teams play, which is effective when adopted by an expensive ensemble of luxury players. He has no plan B, when it works it works, when it doesn’t he has no answers. He made his name at Barcelona with that team, and Messi alone would mask any deficiencies of his.

Or just spend unlimited funds again. Which they are more than capable of doing.

I would give some of that credit to Rijkaard.
I never understand why Guardiola gets the plaudits for the players La Mesia brought through. Yes he put it together but nearly all the players selected were playing for Barcelona the previous season. It wasn’t like he selected them from the youth system and then won’t everything.

I never understand why there is no pressure on him at all. They have outspent everyone in Europe and the start to this season has been atrocious. They’re not even good to watch anymore.

Never said he was a super mega genius but for people to call him over rated is absurd. The guy wins trophies.
