PSG vulnerable to the counter, and that's where we're strongest. Providing we don't concede early i think we'll do alright.

I’m just not sure how on current form we can stop their attack, that’s my concern.

surely this is a game where VDB is guaranteed to start what with his Champions League experience. Martial will play too so I really hope he can get off the mark with a goal.

Donny, Juan and (possibly Cavani) on from bench if chasing game.
No chance of this line up.

    1. Bailly doesnt start this match. He's out of favour for the right reasons.
    2. Maguire as a left CB? If we start with a back 3, he must be in the middle. Shaw takes the left side of the 3
    3. Matic and Pogba after that spurs game? And that right after our best match this season with Scott and Fred?

Fred and McTominay had stormers last time out in Paris. They both played really well against Newcastle too. I would keep them in and leave Pogba and Matic on the bench, bringing them on in the second half. Van De Beek must start though, in place of James. Fernandes can play on the left again.

Maguire plays LCB for England. Chances are McTominay is the player that is brought in to play CB as he's played there for Scotland pretty well.

I wouldn't exactly say that. I'd say we have a very good attack (even a very decent bench) but our midfield and full backs, even in the starting 11, are subpar. As I mentionned in my previous posts; we play with Florenzi (loan, lots of injury troubles, didn't even play for Roma last year) and Bernat (that wasn't playing anymore for Bayern when we bought him for 5M). Also, we have Verratti + 5 or 6 average midfielders but not a single top lvl among them. Our team is just VERY unbalanced and badly recruited.

Just compare our attack : Mbappé-Neymar-Icardi-Di Maria-Sarabia-Kean-Draxler (Jese)
    With our midfield : Verratti-Herrera-Gueye-Danilo Pereira-Paredes-Rafinha

It's just ridiculous how unbalanced it is.
Oh I see, you certainly have a point there.

What do you think of Paredes? When I watched the CL tournament this summer, I thought he actually played really well.

In regards to Arsenal and the champions league, I can't even remember when Arsenal were last in it.

Don’t wanna see 5 at the back. It’s impossible to contain and counter a team with Neymar and Mbappe constantly running at you and wearing you down for 90 minutes. There just won’t be enough energy in the legs to even reach the final third after all the short sprints, intercepting and shifting in our third. This isn’t Newcastle where Joelinton and Shelvey are bumbling around. Let’s attack them while being defensively solid, where McT and Fred’s tireless running and energy will help. Let VdB provide the energy and late runs, Bruno the creativity and Rashford and Martial the speed and finishing in attack. Oh, and no stupidity by Martial. In defence, De Gea and Maguire simply have to carry on their form from last night.

Provided we accomplish these basic things, I think we’ll be able to eke out a draw, and maybe even a win. Helps that PSG’s midfield lynchpin Verratti is out too.

Prediction: PSG 2-2 United. Bruno X1, Martial X1.

Not for me Clive. McT and Fred anchored very well last night, and they have far more energy than Matic and Pogba. This is PSG but we should at least give them a chance to continue their good form.

I'd be shocked If we managed to get anything out of this game. Neymar and Mbappe running at our defence just streams of a possibility of another 6-1 job again.

Either play 5 at the back or Mctominay and Fred at the pivot. Pack the bus and counter. Nothing to be ashamed of

Not necessarily the team I would want but most likely the team he will pick in my opinion, Telles 100% will not make his debut against PSG, I would like Donny to start but i just can't see it either, I feel and would agree with Ole if he goes with a back 5, they will know our defensive fragilities (the whole football world do) so they will try and target Maguire and i would happily nick a 1-0 win at this point, we don't have the team or confidence at the moment to attack PSG.

If we're playing Pogba and Matic, it has to be a back five.Otherwise we're in for a long night. PSG have workhorses like Gueye and Herrera in midfield and the pace of Neymar and Mpape upfront.

I doubt Ole would have the balls to leave Pogba out of this but the team should be

    DDG
    Bissaka-Lindelof-Maguire-Shaw
    McT--Fred
    Mata—-Bruno-—VDB
    Martial/Rashford
Wouldn’t be surprised to see 3 at the back

Do we think he could take Cavani just to give us something off the bench late on in the game.Covid has really decimated them of players but the big two and monseiur snake still there.

I like this. It could work if we are disciplined enough to pen the bus for sustained periods.

bring on Pogba and Cavani for final 15 mins to try to sneak the win

What do you think of Paredes? When I watched the CL tournament this summer, I thought he actually played really well.
Paredes is a frustrating player. He's a very good passer when not pressed but he's far to slow (and not smart enough to be at the right place at the right time) to be a satisfying defensive midfielder.

The problem is, most of our midfielders are mostly defensive. Verratti, Paredes, Gueye, DAnilo, Herrera, none of them bring a lot to the plate in the last third of the pitch. Rafinha is the only one with this kind of abilities (even if herrera also was at one point). And if i have to choose between Verratti and Paredes for exemple, i'll take the little italian any day of the week because the way he can resist pressure is almost unmatched in the world imo.

Our midfield is just a little weak and unbalanced.

    Strangely looking forward to this.

I think their front 3 will unfortunately be the difference, Neymar will be on fire and Mbappe's speed against Maguire and Lindelof won't be great.

I suspect we will go for a 3-5-2 and try to counter attack and just get the draw if possible.

I really hope we give VDB a start as he's shown he can hold posession and move the ball quickly which is important in Europe.
