Ok so stay with me here. If they keep Kane, Son and Bale fit, and if City and ourselves both fall off a bit from previous seasons...could a Mourinho led Spurs win the league?

City look like they aren’t as formidable as they were, and we might be without Van Dijk for the entire season.

It leaves it open for someone else.
Of course they’re going to win the league. It starts in 2020. With the year that’s in it a Liverpool league win was inevitably going to be followed by Jose fecking Mourinho doing the same.

Arguably Top 3 manager all time so I am not really surprised that he still has it.

People forget way to quickly.

Top top manager.

If he wins the league with Spurs then something is so fundamentally wrong with Manchester United for him not to do it here

I think saying Jose was past it based on one season where he had a melt down with us was jumping to conclusion.

This is what we have been telling (atleast I did when they hired Jose)

They have a brilliant squad that suites all kind of football. Le Colso and Ndombele are beasts, with Kane and Son at top, they are a bloody brilliant side.

Their major weakness were full backs and they just upgraded it this year. Won't win title for sure but would be top 4 comfortably.

This is what happens when you back a manager properly. Pochettino never got that luxury at Spurs but still overachieved. It will be interesting to see if Mourinho can eclipse Pochettino accomplishments. The only way I see that happening is winning the league and consistently make top four. I don’t see Spurs making a champion league final any time soon.

Unfortunately at United, we have backed the wrong manager. Mourinho isn’t great at recruiting, but he is great at coaching. It was the right decision not to continue spending millions on the players he wanted. This Mourinho team is still mostly the one left by Pochettino. We need that Pochettino touch at United. Son, Kane, and N’Dombele looks class.

Kane - Drogba
Son - Hazard/Robben
Berjwijn/Lucas- Willian
Sissoko/Hojberg/Ndombele - Matic, essien
Reguilon/Rose - cole, Marcelo
Courtois - Cech
Strong defenders like Rodon etc

Whilst not exactly the same, Mourinho was always going to do well on a Pochettino squad because their tactics and type of player is not much different.

Some serious over reacting here. I fancied them to do well from preseason there's a good squad there. But a win today gives them 10/15pts and we're talking about what might have been with mourinho.

He was "backed" the second season with Lukaku, Matic and Lindelof and coached us terribly against Sevilla, turning half the squad against him in the process. Swapping Martial for Perisic wouldn't have suddenly turned us into title winners.

They almost always win against West Ham, and against us, we played with 10 players for basically the whole game, unfairly. So he got lucky there.

Kane and Son are on fire. Let's see what happens when he has to rotate or when one of the two is injured. Let's see what happens when a few bad results creep in and he start his toxic behaviour again.

Jose has always been like that, second season will be good. but he'll set them back at the end. Reguilon ? Madrid will take him back at the end of the year if he has a good season which looks like it, so short sighted. Bale ? he's there for one year only, so short sighted as well.

Seriously, what's with you and Pochettino ? Every post of yours is about Pochettino. Don't you realise how sad and pathetic it is ? It's not tempting to interact with you because you are predictable and you basically have no other argument than Poch good, everything else bad.

Good approach. We were like you once, when he was winning in his second season before he burned everything down. We had hope at that point.

Pray that Levy gets a good manager after him. Because it's a given that he'll mess you up at the end like every other team he managed in his 3rd season.

And watch him try to include Bale at all costs like he did with Sanchez with us and mess up something that's working extremely well in Son and Kane. The story writes itself.

Still enjoying it mate, whats the point on always thinking the worst will happen? There is no point in football without optimism, us Spurs fans are well versed in it. We have been hearing for the last 5-6 years now about how we "would go back to where we belong". I've been a Spurs fan since Francis, trust me I have seen the worst.

The situation is working out perfectly for Mourinho especially if VVD is out for the season

I believe that is an emotional intelligence issue with Mourinho. Our players are mentally fragile and I even agree with Mourinho when he stated that some players are millionaires here and they wouldn’t care if we win. I believe we had a lot of issues with players and social media during his tenure. A manager can only do as much as he can do if his players down tools, which I m sure numerous players at United did. Swapping Martial for Persic would have been the wrong decision for us, but I disagree that that move wouldn’t have won us title. If Mourinho brought in players that would follow his tactics, rather than have players who doesn’t like his approach, then we might have accomplished more things. But, once again, I don’t like that approach. I rather we have a manager with better emotional intelligence and improve upon the talented players we already have.

The difference is, Levy is backing Mourinho by bringing in the players he wants, rather than whoever happens to be available from agents.

Mourinho is our best manager post Fergie.

Two trophies in his first season. 81 points in the second season with a squad full of squad players! (we got 63pts last season with Ole)

Still frustrating Woodward didnt get the targets Mourinho wanted to improve the first team in the summer of 2018

Wish we had Kane and Son. Both very much Fergie types.
A manager's dream. It's stating the obvious but I said that as soon as he took the Spurs job that he had two players there who were not only quality but also seem to be the character types Jose would like.

You never know with Jose if/when he will implode but that's a strong squad he's added to there. It's an interesting project.

There’s a number of managers better than mourinho, he’s an all time great but not top 3. I can think of guys like Vicente deal bosque and more recently ancelotti and zidane who have equally if not better records, never mind the historical greats
No way del bosque and Zidane are better then him imo.
He’s achieved more with less. Different teams and different leagues.

Nothing new here, Tottenham are always capable of scoring goals when Kane and Son are on fire, has got absolutely nothing to do with Mourinho. Let’s not forget these guys drew Newcastle and lost to Everton a few weeks ago.

Kane, Son or both will get injured soon, then we know what happens eventually with Mourinho.

Jose will something at Spurs. Now, that doesn't mean it won't all turn to shit with him eventually. Also, wouldn't bother me one bit if jose won't the pl with spurs.

Besides Ferguson name me 3 better coaches.
There's no point. Like with Ronaldo, you'll reject any of the manager considered by all and sundry to be better than him, and believe he's better than he actually is, due to him being Portuguese.
