Justin, Barnes, Castagne, Vardy blanks, Grealish blanks. Great week so far considering that I have 11.5m KDB on my bench.

63 points with Jimenez, Saiss, and Taylor to play. Really hope KDB is fit for the weekend, so I wouldn't have a decision to make. Kane is tempting, but bringing him in would change my plans completely.

74 points with Podence and Saiss to go. Happy with that. Total knee jerk to take out Zaha for Grealish, but can’t complain really.

2FTs for next week. Reece James has to go. Think I’m doing Podence -> Trossard or March, and James -> Chilwell. Cresswell looks really tempting as well.

I'm on 65 (with a 4 point hit so 61).

I think Martinez will get a couple more bonus points + I have Semedo left. I'll take this considering I had none of Son or Kane

Took a -16, have ended up on 84 when my H2H league rivals have 49 and 44. Sometimes it's worth the hit :keano:

Barkley looking like nicking the 3 bonus from Martinez. I’ll take the 2 though happily.

Konsa my 2nd sub leaves some points on the bench, but can’t be frustrated with that. He looks like a great longer term option having been picked up at 4.5 as part of a -8 this week.

79 (-8) with the wolfpack of Jimenez, Podence and Saïss tomorrow. Hopefully they all play. Average is going to be quite high this week.

Going to bring him in for McCarthy. Great fixtures as well.
Unless you are wildcarding, that seems like the most sideways move you can make. McC is the 3rd highest scoring keeper in game. Martinez has only picked up 18 points to his 16 over the last three weeks. Both have good fixtures.

Martinez didn't start the season at villa though?

Benched Martinez for Ryan
67 with Dallas still to play. Decent, but I was hoping for more considering the Wildcard.

Weird cut off point on your data collection there. Not sure why you’re looking at the last three weeks only. Martinez has 31 points in four games compared to McCarthy’s 18 in five games.

Villa have the best defensive record in the league with three clean sheets in four games and have conceded two goals all season - the next best is Everton with seven. Southampton have two clean sheets in five.

In terms of actual keeper performance McCarthy averages 2 saves a game, whereas Martinez averages 3.5 saves a game - for a keeper saves is how you get points both directly and as it translates to bonus points. Fixtures wise Villa have a superb run right across to the end of December, so disagree with you that they’re of a similar difficultly.

With that said, Southampton’s harder fixtures do give the opportunity for those odd games where a keeper will defend a clean sheet with six saves and get three bonus points for something like 11 points.

There’s also the chance that Villa revert to more typical form, which is possible but probably not the best approach to decision making. At the minute they’re looking sound defensively and probably best value at that lower FPL price point imo.

Almost as if there was a rare event that heavily skews the data in GW2. I’d be surprised if there was a massive amount between McC and Martinez for the rest of the season. I say this as a Martinez owner who wildcarded McC out.

Ended up on 67 tonight with 3 left to play. Meslier, Dallas and Pereira.

The Kane and Son link up has helped massively even though Grealish and Barnes didn't do much for me today.

With Van Djik out are Liverpool going back to pre-Van Djik style attacking to make up for their leaky defense? Salah and Mane might both rack up a lot of goals

van dijk has been mediocre this season. I think Gomez will do well enough in his place.

Catastrophic start to the season brings a major overhaul:

McCarthy Martinez
Robertson Dunn Balbuena Kilman Davis
Bruno Son Mané Rodriguez Saint-Maximin
Bamford Ings DCL

Put everything into the forward lines, with a good choice of goalkeepers to back it up.

Can't do worse than what I had before.

Southampton are garbage defensively.

Colin, you don't want to rotate keepers. We both know that's going to result in a lot of incredibly frustrated posts.

There's no way you would've put Martinez in today, for example. It's just impossible to call keeper points.

Don't mind the haters, Colin. Go for it. They're the 2 keepers I have in after my own overhaul. Martinez did the business for me today. 2 actual playing keepers gives you a fighting chance of a clean sheet every week.

Yes if you are good at predicting clean sheet then it is very valueable. Need both to be performing though in the easier games and not leak goals for fun that cheap keepers can do.

It's a case of picking the right keeper for each GW. Unless they are both playing high scoring sides, one of other has a decent chance of a clean sheet.

I had Dean Henderson last year, but I still took him out for my reserve keeper for strategic games.

Any less expensive keeper either doesn't play at all, or plays for Fulham.

Find me one.

I've played my wildcard so I have until the end of the week.
I mean there's not many games where a keeper doesn't play. It's not worth spending more. Also, Martinez's second in line is 4m, so you're covered if he doesn't play, which won't happen.

But you do you

Martinez in for Ryan my only transfer this week.

Martinez
Chilwell Robertson Digne
Salah Bruno Son Rodriguez Grealish
DCL Maupay

£0.9m in the bank and I am willing to weight swapping Maupay for Watkins which would get me another £0.5m though I don’t really think I would be upgrading elsewhere. May come handy during Christmas to upgrade bench which is Brewster, Mitchell and a fodder Johnson now. Maupay isn’t terrible but Watkins looks better, is cheaper and his team has looked better going forward too. I love my defense and midfield.

79 with Taylor and Jimenez to go, so minimum 83 if none of them gets a yellow or red. I’ll take that, finally a good week!

You tell me which defense is worth it? No sides look solid at the moment.
I am thinking West Ham if they only had better fixtures.

Going to bring in a defender for next week and I am clueless about who to get.

I guess get someone playing Burnley, Fulham, Sheffield or West Brom as much as possible.
Thats the whole point though. I have TAA, Digne, Taylor, Mitchell and Justin- that's 27m there and I haven't got the returns worthy of it.
Would rather go with a cheap defense and upgrade the attacking quality.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
:devil:Wild card hit!
79 and waiting for Saiss and Bamford left to push through 80.
Martinez
Bellerin -- Saiss -- Robertson
Salah -- Rodriguez -- Grealish(v) -- Son(C)
DCL -- Kane -- Bamford

McCarthy, Mitchell, Bernardo, Oriol Romeu

Is this week a good time to bring back Bruno?

This is the same as mine except I have KDB and Klich instead of James and Grealish, and my bench is different. Bruno is probably gonna be worth having, but KDB more so. He could be back next weekend.

Financially too difficult now without giving up anyone that I really like and getting a huge downgrade. Could do like Zaha + Kane instead of Bruno + Maupay but screw it.
