Keep things tight and pack numbers so they don't have space between the lines or can get in behind our defence. Then try to hit them on the counter and snatch something. Gonna be a very tough game. Hopefully have everyone fit and take the game to them at OT

The options are pretty limited with Maguire and Bailly both out.
I didn't realise Bailly was injured. In that case I'd prefer giving Axel the game as I think he's a better option, even if he's not played in a while.

Not sure when TFM last played CB and McT at CB feels like it would be a disaster waiting to happen.

He started one of the games towards the end of last season there, possibly Lask(H), or the QF v Copenhagen

12 players. I’m pretty confident we can win with that line up

People really want TFM or McT to start at CB?!
McT played 3 games for Scotland there in the past 2 weeks . We’re short on options to be Honest . If it’s a back 3 it will one of McTom , Timbo or Axel .

Axel hasn’t played in about a year I reckon so that a no go area and I’d prefer McTom there than Timbo.

And if it’s a back 4, then Lindelöf and who? You don’t play 3 at the back with only one CB match fit

I'd rest Rashford for Chelsea game.

    De Gea
    Bailly - Lindelof - Shaw
    AWB - Matic - Pogba - Telles
    Van de Beek - Bruno
    Martial

Bailly is a good match up for Neymar. I still remember when he was Neymar's old foe in La Liga.

Playing with 3 CBs is the only way to stop Mbappe. You can't let him go one on one with Lindelof. PSG have a great creativity in midfield, we should match them with 'brain' (Pogba-Matic) instead of 'energy' (McT-Fred).

Think Fosu-Mensah will play centre half, and I think he’ll acquit himself just fine. Still think there’s a player in him, and he’s still incredibly young at just 22. He certainly has the physical attributes. He needs a proper position to develop in though.

Really hope we don't see some 3 at the back experiment with McTominay, that's a disaster waiting to happen. Not ideal circumstances but it has to be one of Fosu-Mensah or Tuanzebe, really.

well maybe you do to give the one some cover. Shaw can play left of a back three but not CB in a back four, so we’d have the same issue.

Lindelof and Shaw were going to be 2 of the 3 anyway . I can’t see him going for a back 4.

Yeah, I would agree with this. He was bought as a central defender and I think I'd rather see him given the chance than throwing Tuanzebe in from cold. He might actually be a short-term solution to our lack of pace at the back too.

Imagine, struggling with this team for so long to qualify for champions league only to rest our players for our first match of the group against a top European team.

They still have the trio Neymar, Mpappe and Maria but the experienced left back missing is a good thing to us tactically.

It's just one game so I think Ole may play Tommy as a RCB. Other options are inexperienced or not matchfit. Tommy and AWB against Neymar is the best bet in our situation.

    DDG
    AWB-Tommy-Lindelof-Shaw- Williams
    Matic
    Bruno--Pogba
    Martial--Rashford

Rashfords gonna play, but I don't mind Mata or VDB in for him if Ole wants to give him a rest or come on as a sub. Im still impressed with the football we play with Bruno, Maya and Donny in the team. Its in my mind seriously.

I chose Williams because we already have an unfamiliar change in the defense but I would love to see Telles because he's gonna have spaces with this formation and we can see how his attacking contributions look like.

If AWB is asked to move higher like last game with someone covering for him, he may have another chance to show his shooting skills

Yeah, we are building the squad for the future. This is not Champions League Final either.

His old foe for the whole of 2 matches they played against each other? One of which Barca won 5-1. What an impenetrable foe he was. And the other 2-2 where Neymar scored.

The myth of Bailly lives on.

Back in reality though, he is unavailable to play, yet again, and hasn’t travelled.

I'm quite excited for this one..I wasn't for the last game but I feel like tactically we might be very suited to champions league football at the moment.

What I do find most important is to try and come away with a draw. We will play these guys gw 6 and the last thing you want to do is put the pressure on yourself. Be nice if we can get off to a good start I don't see why not.

Give Bruno the free role and hit them hard on the counter. Pogba primed to change the game from the bench.

Okay, I got it.Van de Beek cannot be on the bench either. Rashford off the bench for the last 30 minutes (saving him for Chelsea.)
Paul cannot be coming off the bench either

With no supporters there's less pressure for the away team.
Will there be no supporters then? Fans are in the stadiums in France now. I was wondering whether UEFA would adopt a blanket policy in the interest of fairness though.

David de Gea, Dean Henderson, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams, Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Facundo Pellistri, Daniel James, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Odion Ighalo
I think it's highly likely that either TFM or Tuanzebe will start. Hopefully the latter since I don't think TFM has the potential to have future at the club.

Bring on Pellistri in the second half after we've built up a 3 goal lead.

Now that is the kind of stuff I love to see with United under Ole. The fact that it's possible, the fact that he will try it... because he believes in it. What a shame Greenwood was not available tonight, it could have been very interesting with his shot accuracy.

I am more than intrigued by this game. I don't know how we will set up. I actually wonder how we're supposed to setup... the back 5 is not something Ole fancy normally, he does that when creative options in the midfield do not exist. But right now? Hmm... I wish we had some insight on how they are thinking about this game.

I would keep 2 CB and not 3 though. We don't need an extra CB per se, we can simply ask Scott to play a DM / RCB type of role to push AWB forward. Then we have Lindelof, and then we need someone else. Can Axel play?

That, or the safe option is to play Shaw as the LCB kind of role and try on Telles.

We have played Scott and Fred already and we will need them for the game against Chelsea again, so I wonder how all of that will end up being. It's a real headache.

Mengi time? Tuanzebe is back in training too

Think we will see a back 3 with

    --------McTominay--Lindelof---Shaw---------
    AWB----------Matic---Pogba--------Telles
    ------------------------Bruno------------------------
    -------------Martial--------Rashford----------

Think our defence is too weak and to get a result we'll need to score 2
