I think Romero will go to the MLS. We should look to mutually end Jones’ contract
Jones has three years left and won't be able to move to clubs outside of the window. He'll be sitting tight with us not wanting to give him a pay off of three years. Giving him a new contract along with Rojo was one of the worst decisions in recent years.

I know we're being realistic there but still feel for Romero. He has literally never let us down.

At least Rojo's expires in the summer. Not even an extension clause there in case woody got the idea to protect the value.

Both the Romero and Jones situations have been screwed up massively by the club. I feel for Romero because he's been the definition of dependable and we got him on a free transfer.

I know he doesn't want one but Phil Jones somehow being eligible for a testimonial in half a year's time sums up this club since Fergie left.

If Henderson is not going to be the GK for CL and other cups I would keep Romero and sell Henderson with a buy back clause.

I cant understand how he has lasted so long given his injury record and the amount of games he has missed over the years.
A testimonial is about appreication of service.

fecker is on the take for 10 years. I'd say his medical bill is whopping

Everyone feels that. These are the types of deals that the footballing world whispers about behind the backs of the likes of Woodward and Judge and that follow them around for a long long time.

Might it make sense to loan out Romero and bring him back as the 2nd keeper depending on which one of de Gea and Henderson claims the #1 at the end of the season? I can't see de Gea taking kindly to a demotion or Henderson playing another season as the second choice.

I can't see Romero taking to that personally, although he might financially...

How much in percentage has Jones been injured at United?
Think of Hargreaves, but for more seasons. It's baffling we gave him a contract extension and I think it's one of the worst decisions regarding a player I've ever seen in the history of football. It made absolutely no sense to keep him on.

I'm really sad about how Romero time here is ending with us.

Feck Jones though.

I have thought this since we forcibly kept him. We won't have two #1s, one of De Gea or Henderson will leave. But then we also have Pereira coming back from loan to leave us with 5 keepers.

I've also thought we should cancel Jones's contract. We pay him the wages anyway so get him out of the club. We don't want that mentality around the squad.

Mason Greenwood and Fancudo Pellistri have been left out of the 25 man squad as well, does this mean anything or will they be included later on?

That's a little low brow honestly if true.

I do agree that Romero hasn't been treated in a respectful manner as of late when he's done nothing but be arguably the best deputy GK in the league since he's joined without complaints.

Blocking moves for him to good clubs over the last 2 years when we've had Henderson in our long term plans the whole time is a bit disappointing and I'd fully understand if he felt aggrieved

Feel sorry for Romero. Always dependable and never complained. Should have been allowed to leave on a free. At least we would have saved on the wages.

Didn't know we were discussing things in a non-football context

There's such a thing as professional and personal pride for some players uno, I know there's examples to the contrary but not everyone is satisfied with collecting checks for doing feck all.

Has Pereira shown anything to rely on him being a capable enough keeper and better than Romero? I think the club also bought a few other young goalies so one of them might always work out after a couple of loans and Romero could still be a bridge to that.

Let us down? This is not some project at work with the biggest customer, it’s bloody football. The guy was signed as a reserve, a backup, you’re basically paid 50k a week to stay fit and sit in the stands. I feel the notion that he’s supposed to play in the cups and so forth, but again, he was signed as a backup. He is also paid enormous amounts of money for contributing little to the output, we don’t need to feel sad for Romero.

So we were demanding 8 mil. for a 33 years old GK who we did not even plan to inlcude in our list..This is just incompetence.

It might not be the best way of doing things but its not some travesty like his wife seems to claim either. United and LvG gave him a chance when he was out of contract at AZ and brought him to England.

Moreover its no more than 2 months to the winter transfer window and he can carry some practice cones until then to justify his salary.

I feel a bit sorry for Ole in this, he's getting a lot of stick. Not his fault Sergio wasn't sold. Once again on the board. I'm sure Ole would rather he be sold. ESPN trying to create drama, Sergio must know he's 3rd choice right and doesn't need to be told that.

He might have been told in person if he actually reported to training.

Yes, Jones should not have handed a new contract, but the Romero situation is screwed up how?
