Was always a top player in the making, from his youth to his debut and was looking good at Villa as well. Not surprised, it was always Maguire + Tuanzebe i wanted to see since last season.

If he could just stay fit, we might not nees a new CB after all. At least not yet. Astonishing performance after so long out. Needs to stay in the team, and kick on!

Tuanzebe showed that he could be the missing piece in our defence. Someone with pace who can match a forward for pace, quick enough to cut out the danger when your full-back has been beaten. I thought AWB and Tuanzebe made MBappe, Di Maria and Neymar look pretty ordinary. Shaw and Telles on the other side of the pitch were quality too. This formation really suits us. McTominay and Fred like a pack of dogs hunting the ball dog, then look up and play it forward to the forwards who are constantly on the attack. Now we just need to work out how to play against teams who put everyone behind the ball.

UK, hun?
Okay, that was unexpected. There’s an arrogance to his football that we need in defence. Hasn’t played for 10 months and dealt with the PSG frontline like it was nothing. Amazing performance.

Please stay fit, as said before he is plenty talented, just needs to get over his injuries.

Honestly, the amount of talented defenders we have that got injured and their development was halted because of that is ridiculous.

Jones, Shaw, Baily and Rojo all were affected by injuries. Jones and Rojo are hopeless now, and Baily is also reaching that point. Shaw is at least being decent to good and for now is okay.

I like how composed he is with his defending, definitely got the good version of arrogance in his play.

If he can stay fit (it's a bif IF) then I wouldn't sign Upamecano but rather Konate to partner him due to Konate's aerial ability.

Hip and hamstring I think? Serious enough to keep him out a long time and recurring. Hopefully we can get the rest of the season out of him and he doesn't get any more long term one's.
cheers. Saw someone mentioning bad knees, which would be a worry. Any injury to keep you out for nearly a year is a concern mind.

it was obvious at the start of last season that OGS wanted him to be a first team player. Massive bonus if he stays fit, if he does he’s a starter.

Should probably win the Ballon D’or for that performance alone

Looks the real deal doesn't he, let's hope he avoids further injuries as he's just jumped the queue on Bailly with that performance.

Mate, our squad is looking so nice now! We've gone from despair 3 years ago to actually having competent depth now.
I don't think the squad was ever in despair. It was just Mourinho destroying it with the Sanchez move and falling out with Pogba and others.
Our own academy is producing good players though which is nice to see.

My guy Axel! No football for ten months and then comes in and pockets Mbappe, such a composed performance.

I've seen this guy maybe 15 times in the under age teams and he was always going to be top class. He's been unfortunate with injuries but he had the ability to be a regular

Incredible performance considering inexperience and the length of time out.

Both Mbappe and Neymar looked to attack on his side. He was more than up to it. I don't see many defend Mbappe in 1 on 1 situation like he did today.

Watched him a lot for Villa and thought his positioning was always spot on, never realised he had so much pace though.

I’d drop Maguire for him..

There was despair on here 3 weeks ago on deadline day about the squad never mind 3 years. It does look a lot better if Tuanzebe steps up and stays injury free.

It really does.
Yes you sacrifice an out-and-out winger but you could easily play diffferent players in the Telles and Midfield roles.
The shape is superb for bigger tougher high quality opponents

yes three years ago our transfer business was apparently worse than the global pandemic we are currently in. It felt like there was going to be mass suicides of United fans.

Don't want to get too excited, but that was a very Van Dijk esque performance. Has the physical attributes, but along with that, sniffed out the danger so well. Really good performance, especially when you consider he's not played for so long.

Immense performance if he can stay fit he'll be first choice before long.

I can't see Maguire getting dropped as much as I'd love this to happen

England UK!
Offers pace which we lack in our centre backs. Would compliment maguire well covering him against super quick players.

very good tonight, considering he hasn’t played in 10 months!

Talk in this thread about dropping Maguire for him baffles me.

Surely he is exactly the type of partner Maguire has been crying out for?

I feel the same, I don't think he'll drop him.
We just have to hope that finding a CB with pace will help Maguire, otherwise we'd really struggle to play the football we all want to see.
