Honestly thought Chris pratt would be the guy. Hope Holland is good as this roll, he always comes across a bit somber in his movies. Great actor of course. Just Pratt has that sort of Wonder and energy about him.

I'm not saying that its the right look or actor, but I picture Drake being played by someone around the age of Ryan Reynolds when he did Deadpool. Not over the hill, but someone who has is a long way past his teens. I suppose I want badass Drake, not 'exploring his first cave' Drake.

Instead he is played by the same actor who current plays High School kid Peter Parker? Wahlberg as Sully also feels a bit weird.

I read that this is supposed to be a prequel so set before the video games so yeah we are definitely getting Nathan Drake the Origins here.

In fairness, has anyone seen how physically agile and acrobatic Holland is in real life? I'm just saying, there's certain Drake-light stunts that Holland could pull off really well.

I’m not familiar with Holland’s work, but I guess he might work as a young Drake.

Mark E Mark as Sully is still unforgivable though. It will ‘put butts in the seats’ I guess but could ruin the movie.

Fantastic casting. We don't want a doppelganger here. Let tom and the team put their own twist.

Casting Joel will inevitably be more contentious.

Not got a problem with Holland but the last time I watched a movie where the film characters dressed exactly like the game characters was those Resident Evil movies, and on top of that this film is written by the same two folk who did the last Men in Black. I want to look forward to it but all I can see is Mark "I couldn't be fecked playing the Max Payne so I made my assistant do it and take notes for me" Wahlberg and Spider-Man doing another Tomb Raider style film.

"It was a mistake and is something that I will probably never do again."

It's worth looking in more detail at Holland's quote here. GQ sets it up by describing the Uncharted movie as having something in common with a Michael Bay action movie. Holland had to bulk up for the role, and he had to stand "looking cool".

"It was an experiment in vanity that left an odd taste in his mouth," GQ says.

I had to play this very tough, very stoic guy - basically be Mark Wahlberg.

If Tom isn't expecting much from it, and we already know Wahlberg won't have given too shits other than collecting his paycheck, this sounds like it's going to be a load of shite.

Why would you even say that about your movie that hasn’t even come out yet?! It seems the movie is total garbage and he wants to distance himself from it before it even airs.

I don't think she's in the movie (Chloe apparently is), she didn't know Drake then.
And they finished filming in October, so i'd hope casting isn't still going on. :D
Yeah, I seen Chloe has been casted but that’s crap if Elena isn’t in it....

I take it’s going to be set before the beginning of the 3rd game if that is the case?

Its set before the first I think. It's mostly about a younger Nathan Drake as far as I remember. Hence the casting of Tom Holland.

Nate is a joker. A murdering joker but still a joker.

Watch them turn Sully into something like Uncle Iroh.
Nathan Drake is a tough guy, brought up in an orphanage living a tough life, with a tough exterior. But behind that tough exterior is a slightly less tough interior, almost like a room filled with marshmallows stuffed with razor blades.

But he must overcome these insurmountable challenges to learn how to do stuff like punch and kick and shoot and swing from ropes and archaeology stuff - similar to the Tomb Raider film where Lara would stumble across an item and start using it, with the "Skill Tree Completed" icon carefully concealed just off the cinema screen. But, this time, with cold hard looks of toughness.

To become this tough guy he meets Sully, played by the house plant Marky Mark, who shows him how tough he is. The two have many tough conversations about being tough and learning to be tough where nobody laughs because a) they're tough guys and b) they have the combined charisma of a dead cat. There's also a city of lost gold and Chloe is there to be a love interest that needs saving or something.

To be fair it's not unheard of for an actor to hate a movie they've been in, only for that movie to turn out well... Winslet in Titanic, Guinness in Star Wars, Radcliff in Harry Potter, etc...

 I mean, I'll be really happy if I'm wrong and I'll come back and admit it. But if movies based on games have taught me anything so far it's that movie writers and directors have little respect for games, and they also think gamers are dumb enough to think the shit movie they're watching is amazing because the actors are wearing the exact same costumes as the game characters do.
