While the media certainly makes up/manipulates an awful lot of stories that the public gladly froth over, if it's true that he's turning up late for training (in conjunction with the other hijinks during lockdown hysteria), he needs sorting out. I'd expect a 10 year old to be on time for training; this guy is a millionaire at a wonderful club to develop his talents and needs to act like it.

I'm a massive Greenwood fan, and I know his dedication was exceptional when he was in the youth ranks. He needs to continue that, not fall by the wayside like so many others have.

Edit: Again, the media loves to manipulate/make up stories, for all we know Greenwood could be the best trainer at United, but if he is slacking off at all he needs a quiet word from a model professional like Carrick

We all love United
Who’s his best mate at the club? Brandon Williams? I remember Mason used to hang out with Chong and Gomes when they were still at the club because they played together for the U23s. Perhaps Rashford can take him under his wing, there’s no better candidate for that and Rashford isn’t far off his age

And I repeat from other threads...

We really don't deserve nice things as a fan base sometimes. He's a kid, he'll make mistakes. Get behind him. Rashford is helping to feed kids and he's still getting stick.

Is there an element of racism at play here? Would a 100% white player (apologies for the clumsy wording) be getting as much stick? Would every move he made be over analysed?
No. There’s no racism here. Plenty of white (or partially white) players have & should receive the same amount of stick.

Have... you not seen all the stories about Rooney over the past two decades? The shit Roy Keane used to get? The treatment Harry Maguire got over the summer? :houllier:

This sounds racist.

Yes, he or she would. Stupidity has nothing to do with colour. If all the rumours and news are true. Everything is not racism in this world.

the problem is, that Marcus Rashford MBE has other priorities in life, than partying and prostitutes (or, at least, nothing related is ever in the public domain)

It's all in the headlines. You sort of get the sense that some just imagine Greenwood being 'dragged' into Ole's office after refusing to let go of his PS4 and join training. No wonder some can't help but think that kid is a bit of an asshole. However, that's not what happened at all though. Still, they went with and got away with 'dragged' in for talks. Laughable.

Apparently he has been sat for being late two times. That’s somewhat in line with most places I’ve worked in the past - two unexcused tardiness, you get written up. About the same level of punishment as, with both, one still pulls a paycheck.

When does Greenwood get back into the lineup?
He'll probably have to earn it back like Pogba, he might get lucky if Solskjaer doesn't consider Cavani fit enough to start against Chelsea.

Really hope he gets his act together. Hes on the cusp of becoming a truly great player and it would be a massive shame, most of all for himself, if he squanders it by being a tool.

More like Rashford and less like Morrison please

I’d suggest you look at Wayne Rooney, every little bit of shite he got up to was front page news!
People love a bit of scandal, not everything is about race and it’s absurd to make such claims.

He’s 18 and going through a very natural period in life of being a little bastard. The club will see him through this phase, and I’m sure dropping him from the team will have the desired impact.

Hang your heads in shame those people quick to jump on him. Would you also believe in flying pigs?

Well that puts to bed all the bollocks people in here have been saying and agreeing with. Think twice next time before you jump on some bollocks regarding an 18 year old.
Does it? Whether it's true or not Ole is going to back him in the media.

If Ole's backing him then we should be doing too, don't give the parasites anything.

Ole is doing the right thing. Clearly something happened behind the scenes and he dropped him/ took him out of the firing line. But defending him strongly in public is absolutely the right thing to do. Sort it out behind closed doors.

Yes, it does. See other quotes from Solskjaer regarding Greenwood.
"Mason... you know when he’s had a good sleep and when he’s stayed up late playing PlayStation because he might not hit the ball as cleanly in training!" Solskjaer laughed. "But what he does today, he does that time and time and time again and when we do finishing you seen an exceptional finisher there and are not surprised when it hits the back of the net.
He isn't afraid of using the media to kick him up the arse where necessary.

If you want to believe the Sun and the Daily Star then go ahead.

I doubt there's anybody not backing our greatest young talent in years.

Ole is doing what he is supposed to do, protect the young lad and deal with any issues behind doors.

United fans don't need to not discuss news stories to protect the lad.

It's interesting having watched the quote Ole was keen to emphasis he's never been late to training, this supposed 'warning' about his time keeping could easily be in relation to being late for team meetings for example. I'm sure something is going on but hey who cares? It shouldn't even be news worthy but it's part of the territory of being a Man Utd player. It's certainly not a sign he's going to go the Ravel Morrison way

Hopefully Mason plays tomorrow and gets a hat trick :keano:

Well done Ole . Now start Mason and let him do his talking on the pitch . The Media are horrible they love building a player up to then try to destroy them

Ole has completed a strong press conference today. I'd imagine Greenwood to start off the back of this - probably Rashford on the left and Cavani up top.

Although, I would prefer the same system we played vs PSG.

You're preaching to the choir. These same people will jump on any obvious bs story so they can get a chance to crap on their own players. I'm convinced some people simply get a kick out if berating our own players and love acting all victimized how the club and players are letting them down, poor them.

Fecking pathetic. Clinging to any nonsense parroted by incredibly dodgy papers with no credibility so they can band together and shit on a kid. Fecking sad.

There are so many times on this site where I'll type out a response and then realise 'nah no one probably cares' or 'this is a stupid thing to say' and delete it. I wish more people did that.
I'm sorry you're right, maybe he will end up more like your namesake ;)

 that's a great point actually, they see him turning up every bloody day!

he's an easy target for the press since the England debacle so I'm glad Ole is defending him strongly.

Who knows if there was really an issue or whether he was just a bit ill or had a slight injury, but lets hope he kicks on now.
