They will be fine. You will always have a dip over 14 games good for them it’s now. The batters will recover just in time for play offs.
It is important they finish in top 2 and not fall down into 3rd/4th and have to play one extra game to reach finals. Rcb are looking good and both Mumbai and delhi will be on their toes ro not slip up to 3rd.

I think Rashid Khan is as effective as malinga in this format. It’s incredible how he dominates the middle overs.

Poor from RR so far but pitch looks a bit slow. No-one has really timed it so far.

Warner's a funny cricketer isn't he. Top player normally, but against certain bowlers he transforms into Alan Mullally.

Death, Taxes, Archer nabbing Warner
Trouble is RR don't have anyone who can help him. They've got two massively overrated T20 batsmen in Smith and Stokes when they need another gun bowler to give Archer support. The whole management of the team seems brainless.

Beyond humiliating
Not having a mega auction is going to hurt them next season

This is the 11 they need to play with + any new signings they can make

This is entirely on Fleming + management who chose old international players. Pretty much everyone expected the wheels to fall off. It's not a good strategy long term either because the strength of many good teams in the IPL is their ability to retain big players before a big auction, and CSK have none to retain. The signing of Chawla last auction was bizarre.

It's weird that all these years Dhoni got all the credit but the first bad season & it's on Fleming plus the management

I should've written Dhoni + Fleming. It's on Dhoni more than anything else. I doubt Fleming gets to do something Dhoni doesn't want.

CSK now need to identify particular players & aggressively pursue them for next IPL. Have a look through other squads and see what players you can go after .

The problem is lack of options even if there is a mega auction. Delhi won't let go of iyer pant or shaw, Mumbai won't let go of their core, RCB won't let go of kohli or chahal, Hyderabad won't let go of warner Bairstow. Punjab will definitely keep Rahul and Aggarwal. So the choices become limited.

If I were them I would keep a close tabs on Williamson and maybe have him lead the side. Dhoni is done. Raina may do a job short term but I wouldn't have a retired guy lead your side. They need a new leader.

Think a lot of credit has to go to Jayawardene. He's been fantastic for this Mumbai team keeping people's focus on the game.

Things have gone incredibly interesting now. Fight for Top 2 is still on and so is the 4th place for grabs. Delhi would know the pain of finishing 3rd even after being on 18 points last season. This season could be a repeat where let alone 18 even 20 points may not be sufficient to be in top 2.

Fight for the 4th position is also interesting. If I have to guess I will go for either KKR or Punjab, would love if it is the latter. What a comeback story that would be. Also, punjab finishing 4th would mean they could be the most in form team going into the playoffs and the team finishing 3rd wouldn't want to face them in the eliminator.

Narine is such a funny batsman. Everytime I see him play he slogs like a tailender and I feel he won't last more than 6 balls. And then he goes on to score something ridiculous

In a chase of 194, the best thing Rahane can do is get out first ball, tbh.

And this is why delhi always screw up at the final stages. Stupid decision.
I am guessing they're giving him a break to arrest his slump. Fully expect him to be back for the eliminators.

Meh. All top teams will rotate to give rest. Hardly matters if Delhi lose this. They're the best team in this times IPL ( MI come close). They should take the top2 spots.

Beyond that, it's really a lottery. Eliminators are stupid in a league system.

It does matter because finishing in the top two gives two chances of making the final. Places 3 and 4 have no margin for error.

The entire conversation between Dinesh Karthik and Chakravarthy has been ‘Field is okay, just bowl.’. Like he’s trying to calm down an anxious child.

I feel sorry for Pooran. He might be the best batsman in this team, and he's always in after the top order have put the team in an appalling position for both strike rate and in terms of wickets on the board.

Two boundaries in the last 13 overs, fecking woeful. The bowling was good but not that bloody good.
It's easy to blame the middle/lower order but the top order leaves them in a shocking position.

Rahul got out in the 10th over and they had 66 runs. 6 of those were powerplay overs with fielding restrictions. Blocking up an end at the top of a T20 innings does feck all, because you're just making the job a lot more difficult for the guys coming in after you.

Forget top 2 , absolutely everything aligning for DC to actually miss out on the playoffs itself
