We literally had more than double of their chances and our chances even more dangerous than theirs.

They set up defensively and want to hit on counter, we didn’t want to play in their hand and choose to play patiently enough rather than be risky which we still had decent amount of chances just not clinical and credit on their keeper & Silva saves.

Obviously we want to play more risky but I understand the choice of Ole’s approach today since Lampard is trying to bait Ole to do so in order to play counter.

James was awful, no way Ole should give him any starting playing time anymore after that awful performance. The thing I hate him nowadays is that he prefers to cut inside and going for tight spot when it’s better for him to exploit the width since there is more space and cross the ball. Why trying to play your own weakness just not smart enough from James.

We're still suffering for the laxness of the transfer window. If we'd have signed Cavani a month earlier he could've started today and we'd likely have won that match. James was dreadful, now we have Cavani and Greenwood back there's no excuse to be using him from here on out. This wasn't the game for Mata either, really.

We were the better side, Chelsea had no interest in winning and accomplished what they set out to achieve. With all the attacking talent they started with I'd be concerned from their perspective that they couldn't muster a single decent chance. The defence were good defensively although that's one of Shaw's worst outings going forward. McTominay and Fred are a good defensive partnership but Solskjaer should've taken a risk there and put in one of van de Beek or Pogba, I still think it should be one or the other, not both.

I'm disappointed but I don't think it's the end of the world.

It was an ok game. Not too bothered with a draw against Chelsea anyway even though we could have won that.

Furious at Shaw though, lazy in defence, lazy in attack. I swear to god he never ran to receive the pass, just casually jogging waiting for the momentum of the play to be gone. By the end was pointed to overlap twice by Bruno and Rashford.

Thought the defence as a unit today was very solid. Maguire was like a ball magnet and lindelof was excellent too, growing some balls and making things happen. More of this please Victor!
AWB made some assured passing today, really pinged them forward which was great to see as it opened up space.

in front of them Fred and McT were solid and industrious but wasteful with the ball occasionally.

James was anonymous, like really bad. Mata was mata, unlucky to get pulled maybe.

pogba frustrates me, slows everything right down. Cavani looked sharp with his movement and still looks nippy so that’s promising.

Chelsea came with a plan and executed it well so fair play to them, I thought we defended well when we had to so that’s a positive and we had enough chances/half-chances to have won the game.

Ole needs to try and get VdB into games like these instead of James who didn’t offer anything again, looked like we were playing with 10 men until he went off. Hopefully with Cavani & Greenwood fit now and Martial soon to be back I doubt we’ll see James in the match day squad much.

Win our game in hand and we’ll be a max 3 points behind Liverpool and only 2/1 behind any of Arsenal, City, Spurs, Leicester so not the end of the world after what will have been a tough opening set of fixtures.

I don't think we played well enough against Newcastle last week to think we needed to stick with that same team.

If anything there was far more promise from the PSG game, either the 532 that started or the 442 diamond that played the last 30 minutes - one of those teams with Greenwood in for Martial would have made more sense.

Team selection aside it's no surprise again that we're just clueless when it comes down to breaking down a packed defense. The players haven't got a scooby.

Agreed. A fully match fit Cavani puts that near post flick away.

Yep, we handled their front 3 really well. De Gea wasn't asked to do much.

Really disappointed with Shaw. I thought he was showing some form.
He was ponderous and often slowed the play down.
Telles should start the next game. Curious that he wasn't on the bench.

Ole should not be happy with that, but we did have the better chances today. Team set up poorly, and we could have tried to go at them a little more. I guess he wanted to make sure of a point, and win was a bonus.

Let's see how he approaches the Leipzig game. VDB should start in that one. Bruno seems knackered already

If Chelsea would play with a back four - what I also expected - the line-up could be more effective. I am happy that Ole realized that we are going nowhere and made early substitions. However, I wouldn't allow James to continue after half-time.

The substitions were good once again after PSG and slowly started to gain control, but the formation hindered us as Fernandes didn't do much on the right. After the introduction of Greenwood we truly take over the initiative, but it was too late. I guess that was the reason why Ole smirked, because he knew that we could win the match.

What I also liked very much that our centre backs - especially Lindelof! - were adventureous. Cavani also looks good as well as Pogba and I am pretty sure that we won't see James anymore once Martial's suspension is over / Cavani reaches full fitness. Fortunately Greenwood also back from injury (if he had any) and in form.

I am a bit disappointed because of the result, but I am optimistic about our future. Let's how we continue on Wednesday. Hopefully van de Beek will also play a bit more, but I can understand why he is not starting yet.

Pathetic once again, sat in the pub watching the game and said after 20 minutes it would end up nil nil. Then to see that charlatan smirking at full time infuriated me. Abject dross!!!

Where the grass is greener.
The difference between Telles and Shaw going forward is night and day. Hell even AWB looked more dangerous. Shaw broke so many moves down with his slow and ponderous play.

Chelsea look like a bang average team.
Perhaps, but we are below average.
See the post below.

7 points in 5 games. Miserable season thus far.
If Dan James is starting, you know we will struggle to score goals. Against Newcastle I think it was, when D.James was playing we scored 1 goal. When he was subbed, we scored 3 quickfire goals against Newcastle side who were dreadful and unable to score single goal with their own player.

Cowardly game plans by both Ole and Lampard. Chelsea only came for a clean sheet and we duly obliged to give them one with our selection.

James, Shaw and Fred are going to be on the deadwood pile come next summer, they're nowhere near good enough.

Not too unhappy with the result. They will be a direct rival near the top when things settle down and the likes of Everton fall away so a draw against them isn't the worst. We are 3 points off 3rd as things stand with a game in hand. No team is performing at full throttle yet so I'm not too worried. We're in the mix.

Missed Anthony Martial Today
He holds up the ball so well and would have at least gotten us a penalty

For the money Chelsea spent, their attack offered very little, they were toothless and barely did anything.
This is something noone is talking about. Werner is class, not world class, but at least a good striker and he has shown it. Ziyech is in Donny's situation, hasn't been given much time and therefore its hard to judge. However, Havertz....literally offered nothing effective. Pulisic looked more dangerous to me than him...and since watching him from the start, i don't have a good feeling about his game. That's what scares me so much about spending this big quoted figures on unproven players in weaker leagues. It's one thing to have a player flop ( these days the prices make the risk too big), but look at Joao Felix and Ousmane Dembele, after the deal has been made, how can one logically say they were right to make that deal. Sancho worries me as well. We don't know how he would adapt to the premier league, haven't seen good signs from him internationally and he hasn't had enough champions league experience against top sides to make a judgement, yet 120m quote is being dropped on him.

I am 100% give Ole a chance but after 5 games we are touching relegation. I don't think we'll stay there, but maybe get into Europa League once again.

TBF these are a tough run of games so I'm happy to see where things go from here

What a shitshow to watch, chicken mode enabled, we got lucky that they didnt award Chelsea a pen. So far we have 3 awful games at home and one vs BWA where they should tonk us, meh.

Before the match Ole had pointed out our home form, pre match preparation and things he and his staff may change to improve our performance at home. And I think today we did it in the way that the team was solid.

I asked before the match whether Chelsea did played with back 5 in previous matches as I felt Lampard would set his team up that way today. Some said they were there for taking but with Chilwell and R.J as WB plus front three and the mindset like ours against PSG, they were dangerous.

We were not good and wasted one substitute by starting James, but compared to previous matches that we conceded after trying to break teams down, today was good sign the team looked solid and better organized when they try to counter.

Lindelof played well and confident.
AWB again showed how limited he is in attack. The ball came to him and that was dead end. There were some moments after he passed the ball back, he didn't know what to do next.

James should be used as sub. Ole gave many chances to Andres, Jesse even though they are not good enough. He got to stop wasting playing time on him as others deserve to be given chance.

I used to think fat Frank would become a decent manager but not anymore. What a cowardly , cowardly performance considering the attacking options he has.

Chelsea where there for the taking and Ole himself was a little cowardly but I wouldn't hold too much against him (except for playing James) as we looked liked the only team who where trying for the win, even if it was a little timid. He needs to start winning at OT though or he really will be in trouble.

Chelsea came for a point and got it. There were there for the taking imo and maybe we should have been more braver. Saying all that we had chances although not much. If nothing defensively we were pretty good and better than vs Spurs :D

Subs were early but didnt change that much. Pogba kept the play going but didnt bring anything offensively and wasnt exactly dangerous. VDB should have came instead cause there's much more energy and purpose by him, Pogba played like he wants time to just pass.

Also instead of Mata maybe one of McT or Fred should have been subbed just so we can be a bit more offensive.

Cavani looks fit and doesn't look like he hasnt played in a while. I think he'll come good.

Any news on Telles?

Also lets not make anything out of Ole's smirk, he just shook Lampard's hand and gave him a smile.. Not anything deep about it.
