Do we think Khabib beats GSP in his prime?

I’m not really THAT surprised Gaethje looked gassed after the first round either. Khabib brings relentless pressure even if the fight started out slowly.

It wouldn’t be the biggest fight, because it has no point from the SPORT PERSPECTIVE. There is no question about who among those two is a better sportsman, everyone already knows the answer.

What would be interesting is Khabib fighting some new rivals, and at the same time great fighters, great champions.
It would absolutely be the biggest fight.

Why? Khabib already fought him, and Conor couldn’t do anything. He won’t do anything in another fight. Even if they have 5 more fights, there is zero chance for Conor to win even once - he doesn’t have enough skill.

I still don't understand how justin got gassed in the first round.
I thought the takedown particularly knocked his confidence away. Almost as if he was like yeah.. I can’t do anything when this happens again.

Strange posts on here tonight, have people lost their memory? Conor got destroyed in his fight, the only reason to have a rematch is to see him get smashed again.

Khabib is just on another level, was scary how good he was tonight. Walked Gaethje down so easily, took some decent shots and didn’t flinch.

Guys, guys. The man is from Dagestan. He may be a good Muslim but tomorrow he could end up a refugee like some poor Syrian. If there is a huge amount of money on the table, I think his own mother will tell him to think about it.

Conor definitely did something and wasn’t near his best during that fight. Such a simplistic view. Would he win in a rematch? Doubtful. Would it still be the best remaining fight for Khabib? Yes.

That's a load of bollocks though isn't it.

UFC is a business mate, McGregor v Khabib outsold everything else in UFC history by a big margin. That's why the likelihood of it happening is big because of money.

Like I said in my original post "It would be the biggest fight in UFC history in PPV numbers and purse"

There is absolutely no doubt about that.

The good rival for Khabib would be Israel Adesanya. If he wins against him, there will be an option to fight Francis Ngannou (although it would mean getting some 40+ kgs of weight - perhaps not possible).

He didn't get "destroyed" though did he. Seems you have a short memory.

I think you need to relax with your mcgregor is shit hyperbole as it makes people think of you less seriously. I’m agreeing with your outlook in some respects but I think you need to be a bit more nuanced.
Im an MMA casual. Happy to admit it. And have also admitted in this thread that I revel in my hatred for MgGregor. Like I hate him
So yeah, best ignore that part of any commentary from me as its highly likely to be biased :D

I know bit about the sport as I've done MMA training for 18 weeks in total in Soi TaiEd, Phuket with loads of Dagestani's and Americans. Its not much, but enough to give me an insight into the sport. But I'm always happy to learn from the many very knowledgable people in this sport.

You’re the only one who seems to actually remember the fight and have a rational view about a potential rematch.

I don't think Khabib is done. He'll take couple of years off and he'll fight Conor. He's fighting Conor. Fighting GSP would feel hollow now. Its one more fight couple years and its Conor.

Taken down pretty much every round, got smashed on the ground for most of the fight. Got knocked down in round 2. Then tapped out. Lost every round of the fight.

If that isn’t someone getting destroyed I don’t know what is.

Are you related to Conor or something?

I like McGregor as a fighter but I think I'm pretty objective. He really didn't get "mauled" or "destroyed"

I thought his takedown defence at times was pretty good too. He just wasn't 100% on his game that night.

If in 3 years time Khabib is still up to it and Conor has beaten both Gaethje and Porier then I think there is a fight to be made. An absolute super fight. I think it happens.
I respect your opinion in MMA, so will remain open to it as would love to see McGregor get humiliated again.
But the biggest barrier to that fight is getting Khabib to care. I can't see $$$ making any difference so what would be his motivation?
But as Ronaldo once truly said 'In the future, who knows'

Start with Adesanya, it’s just two categories up. Some 13kgs. If (and it’s a big “if”) everything goes well, he might consider getting even more weight.

Conor got one round officially right? Khabib dominated the other 3 rounds, though Conor did show some good defence when on the ground.

Khabib took him to the cleaners in my opinion. Conor was copping pleas “it’s only business”

your western rational view of the world driven by money and fame doesn't exist or have any relevance in Khabib's world.
This is your blindspot on this matter.

Poor guy only went 1.5 rounds with the GOAT and his face is all smashed!

What a lovely guy Gathje is. Glad he is OK and hope he can become the next champ

This is it. It could be so hyped that it could smash all sorts of records. It could be something very unprecedented for Dana White. We all know what Conor is, like him or love him, he is an absolute super star. Khabib is getting there in the middle east and in the Muslim world. In a couple of years time, this fight could be so lucrative, it would be absolutely insane to turn down for either of them. I genuinely believe this fight happens.

He won some 'business'. Thats about it. He's a 'business' fighter
I love that you're obviously in denial can't deal with it

Khabib hammered McGregor on the ground for 1.5 rounds then McGregor got up and outstruck him and stopped 2/3 takedown attempts. He won fair and square but it wasn't the absolute murdering that many seem to be suggesting.
