Maybe he needs to slow down just a little bit when he has the ball.
So having 1 good game is more important than 1 good season or a good career. GotchaHe’s far better than Ander let’s real. He even proved it against PSG
Herrera is no longer a United player so why are we bothered with him now? I ain't bovvered. So having 1 good game is more important than 1 good season or a good career. Gotcha
Fred has consistently performed well since the beginning of last season. Just doesn't get the plaudits he deserves due to the unglamorous role he plays. So having 1 good game is more important than 1 good season or a good career. Gotcha
Herrera had 1 good season in 5 at the club and was never able to stay fit when relied upon aside from that 1 season. So having 1 good game is more important than 1 good season or a good career. Gotcha
By that metric Fred has had 0 good seasons hereHerrera had 1 good season in 5 at the club and was never able to stay fit when relied upon aside from that 1 season.
Fred has never been an injury risk thus far (knock on wood) and is on his 2nd good season right now. I loved Ander when he was here, but Fred is better and he completely destroyed him just last week.
You just said it yourself he makes mistakes. Bad ones at times like bad control, having the ball picked off him from behind from a pressing player or an inaccurate pass. If he cuts those things out then yes he would perform well. He could also get an occasional goal or create a goalscoring chance. When Matic is creating just as many oppertunities as you are, you need to find a bit more end productFred has consistently performed well since the beginning of last season. Just doesn't get the plaudits he deserves due to the unglamorous role he plays.
Even tonight when he was superb the commentators will still quick to criticise any mistake.
I feel alot of people like to use him as a fall man. If he was English it would be much different
Its called having the slightest amount of objectivity to your opinion. Not every United player is the best in the world, not every former player and players we didnt manage to sign suck.Herrera is no longer a United player so why are we bothered with him now? I ain't bovvered.
Not sure you know how seasons work then, pal. Let me know when you figure it out.By that metric Fred has had 0 good seasons here
That isn't completely wrong to say though. He was very good at times last season sure, especially from being completely out in the cold to finally proving his value, but not enough maybe to claim it as good season, looking at it on it's own. If he can't establish himself this season as a first choice, and perform as he did in the good parts just more consistently then he'll truly be a Herrera copy.By that metric Fred has had 0 good seasons here
Ander did much better in the big matches and contributed both to the attack and defence in more substantial ways. Created more goals, scored more goals, made more interventions when opponents would have been in a great position to score. Fred has a better passing technique (with both feet) despite losing the ball more often, getting on the ball less than Ander did and creating less. So no he's quite a way short of a copy. He has similar effort but a very different resultThat isn't completely wrong to say though. Embrace your new friend, he wont betray you.Ander did much better in the big matches and contributed both to the attack and defence in more substantial ways. Fred is he. If you love the effort, then take him out for a spin why don't you, see how you like it. I always rated Herrera btw. But I still agreed with the perception above that Herrera's time at United was not great. He never really managed to cement his place until it was maybe too late, and he did develop into a leader as well. Most of the time I never blamed him and thought he was unfairly treated after putting in good performances, but he never truly got started until it was too late. Fred has a real chance this season to do what Herrera never managed to do, and I assume we both hope he'll manage. Needs to minimise his sloppy passing, that wont fly this season if he is going to make it but overall importance to the team isn't always measured in stats considering it's a new team all together, different playing styles and other circumstances. For instance, Fred can make a mistake in every big game and not score a single goal this whole season and still contribute to this team in a way that might not have happened for Herrera. Herrera could do bits of it all, Fred maybe has the privilege of not needing to.
Ander was the true definition of average, 5 seasons and not a single manager truly fancied him. Average player with a good attitude.Ander did much better in the big matches and contributed both to the attack and defence in more substantial ways. Exactly. Fred’s running and positioning off the ball is awesome. Watching him popping up everywhere is brilliant. His contribution last night was incredible and would be my man of the match if Rashford hadn’t come on and looked like the terminator!People say he run a lot but truth is imo he read the game really well. You can't be where the ball is all the time without great game reading. Defensively he did a prime Kante yesterday. If he can be a bit more tidy and improve his passing then hell of a midfielder we got here.
Did nothing for the fifth though. Shit player.First goal - He won the ball, then Pogba played the through ball
Second goal - He passed the ball to Bruno, who then assisted Rashford
Third goal - He won the ball (Or made the player to lose the ball) and Rashford scored
Fourth goal - He passed the ball to Martial, who then won penalty.
He was just everywhere
This. Wanted to post it myself as well. Was influencial to all our goals scored yesterday. Turned into quite a player the lad.First goal - He won the ball, then Pogba played the through ball
Second goal - He passed the ball to Bruno, who then assisted Rashford
Third goal - He won the ball (Or made the player to lose the ball) and Rashford scored
Fourth goal - He passed the ball to Martial, who then won penalty.

Is it? I think his passing is class. He actually takes a fair bit of risk and has a great pass %. Someone like McTominay on the other somehow manages to complete a fewer % of his passes despite being far less imaginative/creativeI just find it annoying that while he has such a good engine and rarely loses a 50/50 his passing is just so bloody dodgy.
If that's all you saw last night I really don't know what to tell you. Good grief.Total lack of composure on the ball. Not sure I'm buying his style of play. He whips the ball left right and centre and far too often his passing puts our other players under pressure. A perfect example last night where he's on the ball with time to pick his player. Instead he whips it to VDB who's surrounded by Leipzig players, which puts him under pressure. Leipzig win the ball in a dangerous position and attack our goal.
Would you give it a break. One good game my arse. The difference in our play and results with and without Fred is like night and day. Palace, Brighton and Spurs he doesnt start, shite performances/results. Last 4 games he starts and lo and behold 4 great performances from the team. Then there is last season before he was left out of the team, some great performances from him in treble wins over City and Chelsea in same season. So having 1 good game is more important than 1 good season or a good career. Gotcha
