"You and your paper can feck off."
I’m one of the most vocal critics of western exceptionalism and illegal US wars on this forum.
But I felt genuinely sick with fear on Tuesday night when it seemed Trump was doing well. So I’ll take any Democrat over Trump as I won’t literally feel my blood pressure rise anytime Trump spoke or tweeted?

The rest can wait for another day.
I know it can wait, Biden being president when the 20th anniversary of the Iraq war rolls around is proof enough. I also know the other day will almost definitely be after November 5th, 2024.

With all the celebrations going on, presumably USA will smash its own Covid-19 cases per day record in next few days?

What outcome were you hoping for?

Are you still unhappy that Bernie wasn’t the candidate?

Kamala's speech really lacks a sense of dramatic. She needs to work on emotive content delivery. Not bad, bit could have been classic.
She certainly has a strong approach. But for women, including my girlfriend next to me who shed a few tears - I don't think they'll agree!

In general or tonight? Because the latter was that one of the drones would land on Biden's head.

Na, I'd quite like Bernie to die on his own terms, rather than the inevitable assassination during his acceptance speech.
Obviously I meant in general

Van Jones on CNN saying VP elect Harris came out to Beyonce when it was actually Mary J Blige is further proof he's an Uncle Tom

That's more on content, not delivery. She had powerful speech, but just couldn't donut justice. Lack of flair, complete lack of emotion or drama. It was just better than a monotone. If she could have added some spice in delivery, it would have been overall classic. A good story in a speech...but let down by narration.

could do with a boring presidency for a little bit.
I do get some of the concern by especially non-Americans a bit - the one thing Trump hasn't really done a lot of (or at least not with public knowledge) is a lot of warring across our borders. What will be seen as "good & boring" by a lot of the west, and especially us domestically is probably looked upon as opening the door again to more military actions etc again. I do understand that, but at the same time its clear that a Trump presidency has shone the brightest of spotlights on our own domestic shortcomings. I do hope the focus will be on that.

Nobody worth a damn could or would get through the US election process. We're day minus whatever of Biden's presidency and his media apologists are already trying to distance him from anything approaching the sort of wholesale changes the world needs and the people who will benefit from them. Cue another 4 years of 'Oh that can wait' and Biden's head in a jar running against whatever has been living on Trump's head.

Mass protests around the world, the climate being utterly fecked and folks are flat out hoping for a boring presidency. In their wildest dreams next to nothing happens for 4 years. Launch the nukes 90 degrees in the air and get it over with already.

think he has done a lot of warring across our borders (maybe not actual wars but almost starting a war with Iran, dealings with the Kurdish forces in Syria, love-hate relationship with Kim Jong Un, agitating a cold war with China. And thats just off the top of my head). Its just that it got buried under all the other bs he came up with almost every day.

Didn't he kick off his presidency with a MOAB in Afghanistan? Following on from that he's been helping the Saudis butcher Yemen (and US based journalists), carried out missile strikes in Syria, and even wanted to carry out a few coups/assassinations of Latin American leaders if not veto'd by the grace of his military staff. And thats not even getting into the Soleimani assassination or how he's essentially killed off the prospect of Israel-Palestinian peace by declaring Jerusalem the Israeli capital (contrary to this sentiment that he's somehow made peace strides in the ME).

It's a huge myth that he's been a non-interventionist.

Dont disagree and didn't forget about those but it still pales in comparison of course to the large scale military missions and wars over the past few decades. I agree that all the other BS probably provided a lot of cover for a lot of actions that were taken and just didn't see much if any air time. To throw Dobba a bone - we haven't heard of a lot of drone strikes or gunship attacks on foreign targets, especially ones that have unfortunately led to civilian /innocent lives being lost too. He has done a lot - but it doesn't feel that way. If we do things again in the future with a more normal president in the WH a lot more of that will come into focus again. The far bigger damage he has done imho is by ripping up accords and failing to support democratic efforts in places like Hong Kong, Ukraine and Belarus.

feck. Your pseudo intellectual nihilism, megaphoned from all the way up there on your high horse, is exhausting. Just give it a break for one fecking night. Yes, the system is broken. Yes we need the types of changes that will not happen. You’ve got a democratic president with a republican senate, and anything meaningfully impactful will be blocked. But tonight is a victory for everyone that wants a pathway to a sustainable and equitable future.

We are a million miles away from where we need to be, but every journey starts with a single step; and national culture change takes generations not 4 years. This is a victory for preventing the constant onslaught decency and tolerance has been subjected to from the highest office for the last four years. No one is under any illusions that we aren’t all still fecked unless we fix our destruction of the planet and each other.

So can you just give it a rest for one fecking night? Can we have one fecking night free of cynicism and actually embrace the idea of having some hope? Is that too much to ask? feck me.

Sorry bro, let me know when we can get on with holding Biden to account on his record and his bastard party on theirs. 17 years of falling upwards and counting.

Yay, Biden. Fire up those fracking drills.

You do understand what people would mean by a "boring presidency" after the shitshow of the last four years? Not one of inaction but just not one with all the bs.
