We've got a lot of movie buff on the Caf so I thought I'd ask your favourite acting scenes, sequences or whatever you want to call it. Personally, I marvel at the craft. It takes incredible talent to do something so well that you feel like you're present, you're right there. Of course, it goes without saying, that directors should receive praise for that too.

Anyway, I was blown away from this scene from the joker. It genuinely left me shaken for the little person. I actually breathed a sigh of relief when he managed to leave Arthur's apartment. The acting from Joaquin Phoenix and Leigh Gill was just sublime in this scene.

I'd love to see some of your favourites.

Tommy Wiseau in the room certainly left me speechless

When Steve Carrell played John du Pong in Foxcatcher. I'm a big lover of The US Office so it was very strange to see him play a character like that so well. He was really unsettling.

It was the smallest of snippets but if you needed reminding that Tom hanks is a great actor watch the scene in Captain Phillips when he’s just been rescued and is being attended to by medics.

Matthew Mcconaughey in Interstellar.

Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 years a slave.
He was really good in Dallas Buyers Club as was Jared Leto.

There are so many James Gandolfini moment in the Sopranos. The part in season 5 when he asks if Junior still loves him springs to mind.

Never got a chance to see that movie. I seen the documentary but I heard the movie is actually overhyped?

Said it in The Boys thread, but Anthony Starr as Homelander in that show is something else.

Brain Cranston in Breaking Bad, Episode "Crawl Space" -- he's utterly sensational in that.

The movie was overhyped, Carrell was really good though IMO.

Interstellar is probably my favourite movie but I think McConaughey in either True Detective or Killer Joe is his best work.

Honourable mention to Mud too.

Damn, that shit was absolutely heartbreaking, especially as it was after he was rescued and I expected the film to just show him happily being reunited with his family.

Yes!! Agreed. His facial expressions are brilliant. You can just feel his bp spiking. And how he turns from a charming superhero to a stone cold psychopath is truly awesome.

Maisie Williams on the Jimmy Fallon show when she leaked the fake GoT spoiler. Better than anything she did on the show

The first four seasons of GoT had so many examples.

Not Jon Snow but Aemon in this scene...

And more or less every Charles Dance/Tywin scene.

For me he’s the greatest actor of all time just for that role. There’s probably no one scene that captures the sad, emotionally broken feck-up that was Tony Soprano. But here he is in therapy, just after
murdering his best friend
, something he cannot discuss:

Some really good shouts. Id say Christopher Walken and John Cazale pip De Niro for acting in Deer Hunter though. Of course that's not a slight in Di Niro he was still awesome but Cazale was especially good whist suffering from cancer.

Deer Hunter is just an amazing film with lots of strong performances all around. John Savage and Meryl Streep were also both outstanding.
