With shaw injured, telles will get his moment!

if It was me, I’d move mctominey over to the left side of the two midfielders to provide cover for telles, that would allow telles to make those runs and to give options and availability on the left channel.

it should really help us both against the high press and the low block - it’s very hard to pick up the full back. Shaw for all his technical ability is frustrating as he doesn’t make those runs.

wan bissaka is a beast in those one on ones so he’d be fine as more of a sitting full back as may be more exposed - again to provide balance. Plus fred is still good winning back the ball and is very mobile so the right would be fine.

im Pretty excited to see how it unfolds.

Fred covers the left side and does it very well, don’t think we will need to change anything.

If he’s free, fit and healthy enough to play what’s the issue? Not like playing for Brazil is a higher risk than playing for United - it’s just the way the timelines happened.

Yeah I know it's just the fact that in my opinion international football shouldn't be happening during this current crisis.
Of course flying to Brazil and meeting up with a squad of players from all over the world increases his chance of getting covid ?

Well the "good thing" is he already got COVID-19 the last time round. So he already has immunity, of sorts, and the extra match play can only be good for his match fitness.

International games during a global pandemic is absolute bonkers. Should have removed all games during the season and then have a qualifying campaign at the very end of the season. Would have been more exciting as well tbh.

He will need some game time and international matches will probably be less energetic than a Premier League match

I sincerly hope we are going for a 3-5-2 now , I dont think Telles in on par with Shaw defensively.

Not sure that's how it works.
It's a virus, that's exactly how it works. Unless there is a new or mutated strain (none reported) you rarely get the same one again unless your body is weak.

He definitely is but our fans will tell you different.
I cannot recall the last time Luka Shaw got done by a winger, but I have also seen alot of recovery pace and tackles from him.

If someone said he isnt good enough going forward, yes I will agree but lets be fair and credit the guy for what hes good at surely?

To be fair, he hardly gets beaten, that said, a lot of the time he's not tight enough to prevent a cross. In fact, for whatever weird reason he doesn't come across as one who feels that allowing the opposite a free cross in our box is a bad thing.

His offensive game is a bit annoying because Shaw definitely has the natural ability to go forward. We all know he has the dribbling ability, and in the last 2 games we saw two crossed beauties from him which were duly capitalised on (maybe Telles is doing some coaching!). He just seems a bit hesitant to do so, probably due to past bad injuries.

Weirdly more than once, as Shaw's attacking has increased, he's promptly picked up another injury. Such a shame

As for Telles, can't wait to see what he can bring to the table.

Maguire should be looking to try and get a few goals from Telles corners.

Yeah, I do agree with that, its something that he needs to improve on, complete opposite to AWB who wants to dive in all the time, Shaw wants to jockey all the time.

Its obvious Shaw felt the pressure, like we saw he has the ability, always chooses not to use it for some bizzare reason. I do think the Injury is still having a mental block on him.

Yes, lets see how Telles fares, will be honest I havent seen much of him.

Yeah totally agree, hope I’m wrong but I think we will see his value defensively when we are now forced to play Telles for a while.

Maguire wont have much help on that side when Shaw is out.

What? Shaw is probably one of the best defensive full backs in the PL.
Maybe you're correct but I swear whenever I see us concede goals from his side, he's just jogging around and looks out of sorts. He also tends to back off too much from opposition and that lets them cross the ball in a lot. Maybe I'm just remembering the few instances and my judgement is clouded.

I do see what you are saying, there are instances where Shaw does not get tight enough to the wingers to stop the cross into the box, which is frustrating.

That is my biggest frustration with him. Otherwise, good player that looks to improve his crossing as well.

Well, remember there are different kinds of virus groups? There are a few factors contributing to why it is difficult to produce a vaccine for Covid-19. The same factors will also provide a challenge to a persons immune system.

According to some, building immunity towards Covid-19 may be a possibility for some people and not for others, depending on their genetic make up. We'll see how that pans out. Relying on perceived, unverified "immunity" is not something I'd bet my life on.

Hope Telles will be fine, of course. Can't wait too see him curve those passes onto the forehead of our attackers!

shaw is only good at defending when in position. Even jose commented the left sided CB covers for him alot. Shaw struggles to get back into position when he ventures forward.

Not exactly strange. That's why all so called good going forward full backs are seemed to be weak in defending. I am not saying Shaw is good at attacking. But, the simple logic will tell you that if you have to run up and down all the time, at one point or two, your side will be heavily exposed because you are not in the position all the time to defend like a CB would...

Evra used to jog back while Vidic had to cover his side all the time when he played for us. And, Jose spouts a lot of nonsense about a player when he does not like them. Not like his favorite players were perfect.

Twice he’s also had an attacker behind him and for some reason is staring at the crosser. Whenever I’ve played cb or fullback my head is on a swivel at all times. We’ve conceded a couple of goals like this and it’s shocking. If I’m the far man I always make sure I’ve got the furthest attacker marked. It’s something I doubt Mourinho would ever let slide

Haven't seen much of him other than against PSG but I know he's been on people's radars for years and his attacking play sounds (and looked against PSG) great. I feel Shaw is probably the better player but I'm really excited to see what Telles has to offer.

He should have never been called to brazil national squad. Stupidity to say the least.
Not stupid IF he goes and plays well, getting 180 minutes of match practice and fitness under his belt in the meantime.

Personally, I don’t agree with him going but fully understand it

Was good! I like his passing and crossing. Think he was a bit too tentative at first but he'll show more of his creativity with time imo.

Decent game overall. Still early to judge him correctly but at least we have a good option now when Shaw isn't playing.
