Original came out in 2015 and will likely still support all new games. Pro being released will probably extend console's lifespan by 2 years so it's actually good news for original Switch owners.
2017.

Nope. It’s been top selling console in America for 22 months. Sales have increased 60% from last year. So not sure what @Ainu is going on about it doesn’t have any momentum. This is not talking about Japan where it has surpassed Wii and PS4.
Yeah, I'm not going to argue against the sales. The thing still sells like hot cakes laced with cocaine.

I'm not sure it has any momentum right now. It's all about Sony and MS. Nintendo need Metroid Prime 4, BOTW 2 or a new main Super Mario title.

It did have Animal Crossing though, I'm sure that made their entire year and then some.
This is more what I mean. After the success of Animal Crossing - which I confess no interest in - it seems a little quiet in terms of games.

I was on the e-shop recently and there's not a lot of 'upcoming games'. Pikmin 3 and the Wii U Mario were the biggest but they're ports.

I feel there's a Link's Awakening/Luigi's Mansion 3/Mario Maker 2/Astral Chain type missing to truly capture hearts and minds.

This is not me saying SwItCh SuCkS!1 btw (it doesn't). I'm merely pondering whether Nintendo are looking at a replacement sooner rather than later.

Fair enough, I was speaking exclusively about my own perception as a Switch player with regrettably very few games on his radar. From my point of view, it seems like Nintendo doesn't have a whole lot going on at the moment. I had no idea it was selling that much and I have to admit I'm a little puzzled by it. Good on them. I do wonder if the Series S will eat into their market though.

Trying to pick up a coral switch lite and animal crossing for other half Xmas. Not seen a price that tickles me yet. Hoping to get both for £200. How likely is a cyber Monday deal for the console?

You're never finding that deal mate. Unless maybe second hand, but even then, chances are slim.

I doubt the Switch will go on sale on black friday/cyber monday...

Ran out of games for this and rapidly lost interest. Will look at whatever No More Heroes is.

EDIT: Ah, not my thing.

I found Pikmin 3 really boring on Wii U. Shame Nintendo are still porting over these old titles three years after launch.

Control is also out, cloud only interestingly, as I guess the switch doesn't have the power to run it.

Trial available to try before you buy.

Anyone played Lonely Mountains? Noticed there was a discount on that in the store and figured it could be a decent portable title to tide me over until the ps5 arrives.

It's amazing.

Really chilled out but challenging.

I bought it at full price and think it was worth every penny.

I wish had known sooner that God-mode in Hades was easy mode. I thought it was a very hard mode so I didn't turn it on after around 50 failed attempts. I suck at this game.

Grabbed Mechstermination Force for a couple of quid.

Absolutely cracking game. It's like a 2d Shadow of Colossus, in as much as you're taking down huge bosses.

It's bloody hard though.

I tried the trial and was surprised at how well it runs. It feels kind of insane playing a game with ray tracing on the Switch.

Like, it's fine and I can see why there was a glut of 10/10 reviews because its first few hours are utterly charming getting to know the world, but beyond that I'm struggling to think what I liked about it.

The story is utterly banal, the character development non-existent (and the voice acting hilariously shit), the combat both tedious and frustrating, and the puzzles (both shrines and divine beasts) didn't do anything for me. Oh and the sword breaking mechanic needs to be chucked in the bin and never, ever rehashed again.

I can see why people like the world, and there's lots of raw materials there which should have made it a great game, but I think it's a good deal weaker than the sum of its parts.

I went for Pokemon for my isolation instead of Zelda. I’m loving it!

Pushes my nostalgia buttons nicely. Very chilled out game.

I bought Hades on a whim after seeing the 93 on metacritic (I'm a massive metacritic sheep). Is it good? I've not played it yet.

Yeah it's amazing. Took 4-5 runs for it to fully click for me, I've since beat it (after 31 tries) but still can't put it down as it's fun to try different builds.

My GoTY so far.

Do you like any other roguelikes?
I've played a bit of FTL and into the breach and liked it well enough. So it's a dungeon crawler where you get to try to escape, but if you die you have to restart from scratch?

You have to start back from the beginning yes but with each run you can collect new weapons, items etc. Also each run always feels unique because there are so many different weapons and power ups to collect. and sometimes the bosses are even different. And every time you die the story tends to progress a bit, it's continuous across all runs, it doesn't reset along with each run.

It's a game that rewards you for each attempt, not punish you for failing. I'm not usually a fan of roguelike games but it is awesome.

Yes and no.

You have persistent upgrades. Its more of a rogue-lite.

Each run you'll learn more about attack patterns and get certain items which allow you to start leveling up. Similar to Dead Cells.
