Roberto di Matteo, easily.

Materazzi didn't do much at Everton, but in terms of the overall career he's also better. Panucci too.

Surely Di Matteo was considered a midfielder though? I don’t think we have ever had a particularly successful spell from any Italian defender in the Premier League, considering the great defenders they have produced over the years it surprises me a little.

After their retirement all footballers immediately start looking like they are in their fifties, no matter what age they retired at.

I'd open this up a little.

They either look like they're still super fit, like a Jamie Redknapp or a Beckham, or they instantly put 7 stone on and make anyone amazed they ever played sport for a living. eg John Barnes and Ruddock.

I didn't know Vestergaard's first name was Jannik, the first time I heard it was during the game yesterday. I probably assumed he'd have some Tolkienesque orc name, but Jannik is cool.

We'll be good the moment we ditch Chevrolet t-shirts. Why? Because no good side has had a crap sponsor logo. This is a fact.

I disagree.

AC Milan were once sponsored by Pooh Jeans... surely that's a crap sponsor logo ;)

FIFA laws state that any player with the first name João must wear it on the back of his shirt.

Preston, Norwich and Reading are all basically the same team - destined for single seasons in the Premiership, with an attack led by David Nugent.

I don't know why, but it always surprises me when I remember Dean Smith and Chris Wilder are two different people.

An entire chunk of time has gone missing from 2020, with United (seemingly overnight) going from being an insurmountable distance behind Spurs and Chelsea to being comfortably above them with a game in hand and no-one actually noticing that it happened.

Dunno the press have started to put us in the title race now despite less than half the season gone. People are talking about it.

I fully expect us to stuff up the game in hand against Burnley somehow and then they’ll shut up again. Another keeper worldie from them should do it.

Liverpool fans, no matter how nice a person they are in everyday life, inherently become the most arrogant, deluded species known to man when the topic of football is being discussed.

Last team Newcastle went a season without being knocked out the cup by a lower league side was around 1955.

Too many Sissokos out there. I can't remember who was the best of that lot. Probably the one from Juve?

Weird to me how so many big clubs/ clubs from big cities so badly underachieve decade after decade.
Newcastle haven't won a sausage since the 1960's. Spurs haven't won the league for 60 years. Everton haven't won anything for over 20 years.Villa. Sunderland. Wolves. Sheffield Clubs. Bristol Clubs.

For about two thirds of last season I really struggled to tell then apart. This year with SU struggling Wilder’s unlikable personality has really come out so it’s been a lot easier. Smith I could still walk past in the street and not recognise. Even his name could barely be more generic middle aged English bloke.
