9 months younger than Greenwood. Will definitely put pressure on Greenwood if Diallo can hit the ground running right away.
I'd hazard a guess that he won't play much until he's got used to training with his new team mates and will probably play a fair few u23 games first. I'm not expecting too much, too soon from him, that would be unfair. Him rotating with Greenwood would be much better to start off with.

That logic doesn't make any sense to me. When you have a special talent you find a spot for him. It's not like all he can do is cross the ball from a RW position. Granted other teams have sat on good talent before, like west ham with mascherano and tevez.
Do you watch Atalanta play? They are lightning in attack, possibly the best side to watch going forward in Europe. There's no need for them to mix that up when their system works so well as is. Entirely possible that the coaching team their feels Diallo would disrupt that system.

Atalanta's attack is narrow with wide midfielders going up and down like wingbacks. There is no normal wing spot for Traore. Perhaps he could play in the middle as an AM but he's not going to be going back to defend at RB which is what you'd need to do on their right

He's a twat. Didn't register him for the Champions League squad in FM21 and he came crying to me despite only being at the club for a month, so I sold him to China

I haven't seen him play obviously but I can't help but feel if he was as good as he's made out to be he'd be getting game time. Young players play out of position all the time to get games.

He's just turned 18 so obviously needs to improve physically a little. He played 3 games before lockdown and the end of season came.

Now united have bought him I don't think they'll risk him in playing mens matches unfortunately, but from what we do see he's training with the men and doing pretty good

If Sancho was so good why didn’t he get playing time at City? If Pogba was so good why didn’t he get game time?

Young players are played out of position by clubs who are invested in developing the player and willing to accept poor and inconsistent performances. Atalanta have already agreed to sell them. What on earth would they get out of playing an 18 year old out of position who they’ve already agreed to sell?

Didn't Atalanta also get rid of another highly rated wide player in Kulaveski? Gasperini's system is quite niche. I wouldn't read too much into him not getting any game time. Really looking forward to seeing him play for us.

I just don’t think they’d bother develop a player for 3 months or whatever it is. They are a good team without him so why sit somebody on the bench who will be there for the future.

I'm excited but I still find it a bit strange he hasn't really played for Atalanta. If you are that good they would play you.

The whole "Atalanta doesn't use wingers" thing still baffles me. Why did they get him then? If he is so special why couldn't they play him up top or as a wide forward?

There is just so much mystery with this kid. Let's hope our scouts get this one right because not having a RW for 8 seasons is beyond embarrassing.

Gasperini is known for his Bielsa-esque detailed-oriented tactical approach (and Atalanta's slightly suicidal personal pressing falls apart if even one player isn't doing what he needs to do) and his attitude towards integrating new players into the team is to always take it slow (look at Malinovskiy last season or Miranchuk now – and those are the players who already fit his system tactically).

I'd imagine that Diallo would've been played more and more gradually from this season forward, but the transfer certainly didn't help his Atalanta career – Gasperini still needs to shape him into someone a bit different before he fits Atalanta perfectly and there's no sense in doing that anymore since he's going to leave in a couple of months.

Good point. I think the plan was all but done for Amad Diallo to go on loan to Parma too before we highjacked the deal, funnily enough. After a spell or two there, much like Kulusevski, he’d have probably ended up at Juventus or one of the other top Italian sides.

Very good point.

I also believe that Atatanta are protecting their asset. We don't know what the stipulations are if Diallo gets injured. And getting injured is more likely to occur playing for the first team where there is a much higher intensity level to the play than the reserves/academy.

Of the right wingers, is this lad the one considered best "ready to go"?
Nah most people prefer Nigel Farage.
I kid I kid.

Anywho I do have high hopes for Diallo. Based on what I've seen and I dont mean to put any pressure on him he will be our best talent since Ronaldo. So not like Im setting the bar high or anything. No pressure. But try to be like Ronaldo.

Having seen the snippets of Amad Diallo training with the first team of Atalanta, it's hard not to get excited about the prospect of him cutting through VVD and Robertson like they're melted butter. On my third watch of the video, I forced myself to focus on the pace and intensity of the defenders he was up against...

I don't take for granted he will be an instant hit going up against some of the best defences in the world. My hope is he will be eased in and that the hype won't kill his momentum. Still hoping, still excited!

Looks like the defenders have been told not to kick the golden goose. Still, looks very exciting and talented.

I am very excited about Diallo. I really think he may even match Sancho level one day.

There was one good run and shot, and also a good pass through the defence for another forward to shoot from. A difficult late introduction into the game when the opposition were sat back and Atlanta were chasing the game. I saw a 'highlights' video of him in the game on Twitter.

It´s very early to say that. Let´s not overhype the kid just yet but only after his first 20 mins cameo with us in few month ;-)

he´s a albeit very exciting stilla prospect rather than a guaranteed first team superstar

Him or Palliestri, which one was supposed to be better? My personal opinion after watching both play for 2 mins is Diallo looks better.

Diallo, which is why the club is paying 20m initially for him while Pellistri cost only 9m.
