Wow this score line to one of the worst Valencia sides in ages is really crazy. I’m sure the break will do them some good.

4-1 now.

According to betting site I'm looking at Valencia had 4 penalties although assume one was retaken.

Valencia starting Guillamon, Racic, , Musah and the Korean lad upfront so shows how much their side has been gutted from last season although other half of team are still good quality international players.

Would be like Real Madrid going into a game with Santos, Mariano, Jovic and Kubo all starting for them.

Honestly think we'll have a surprise winner in La Liga this season. Or Atletico Madrid.

There are several players that are really bad: Marcelo,Asensio, Isco...
At least a few minutes to Odegaard

I haven't watched the game but any Madrid side with Isco and Marcelo in it is 2 or 3 levels below the strongest side. Not sure why Zidane insists in this lineup still.

Done a bit of research, Musah American born but been playing for England age groups so looks like another interanational tug of war going to be happening. Only 17.

USA called him up for the November friendlies.

I know there's a few Real Madrid fans here so can I ask after this result is Zidane on the verge of getting the sack?

There's been talks for a few weeks since the CL performances have been so awful

Musah qualifies for the USA because he was born there whilst his parents were in holiday there; Italy through residence for the first part of his life; England through residence for the second part of his life and Ghana through his parents and grandparents. The US have called up loads of duals for a friendly in this break, they’re really trying to persuade some. Southgate said the other day that we couldn’t give Musah a path to the seniors yet but we hope he’ll still end up with us.

Giving 3 penalties against Madrid in a La Liga game?

How does the ref keep up with play with two watermelons down his shorts?

No penalties or headers by Ramos to paper over the terrible defending. Awful from Madrid all around in defense. How does Marcelo still get games?

Soler missed the first one, someone scored from the rebound but the ref ordered a retake because apparently some Valencia player had encroached (as had Marcelo I think).

Madrid are awful, Barca are worse but it's still hard to trust Atleti to do it. They're 3 points off the top in third, with 2 games in hand so they should go top soon.

Makes sense for the States given they'll want to make a big go at 2026 world cup. Already got Pulisic, Dest, Gio Reyna so add another couple to mix and they could easily have team capable of last 8 as they'll be mid 20s by then.

I don't think they'll sack him like another coach. It would have to be a mutual agreement.
Zidane saying that he does not see himself capable , or the president asking him to leave.
I think that this second possibility would not happen except for a hecatomb, out of simple respect for Zidane.
I don't think it will happen soon, because the bad results (Cádiz, Shaktar, today) have been muffled by the victory in the clásico, the second half against Gladbach or the three points against Inter.

But the match was halted for 10 minutes for all penalty decisions.
And rightly so if the officials got them so wrong? Theyre huge decisions to miss.
I honestly think the even nature of football right now is down to VAR taking the bottling decisions away from refs. Players cant get in VARs ear, the officials cant let decisions go because they might be wrong and will get shit for it if it costs a big club silverware etc.
I understand debates about offsides etc but the ref missed Ramos literally punching the ball away tonight

How is kangin lee doing?
Shot on target, deflected by Courtois. Some involvement in the buildup, looked okay to me. Musah looks like a handful though. Hard to gauge this performance against Madrid who thought they were playing handball instead.

Whaaat?? Real lost to that Valencia side?? Really? When was the quality of La Liga so low? Mid 90s? Genuinely feels like everyone's waiting for Haaland, Mbappe and Neymar to move there. Otherwise it's gonna be worse and worse.

Very hard  Seen too many good starts to seasons where I thought it finally clicked and Simeone had managed consistent offensive prowess only to revert to hoping for a lucky Griezmann/Joao/Morata/Correa goal/assist while keeping 8 in the back at all times. But now they seem to manage many different types of opponents (ignore Bayern :nervous:). Nice touch from the live editor against Cadiz showed why Hermoso played over Renan Lodi, so they could change to a 3-4-1-2 in possession while still keeping cover for 2 CFs (Lozano and Negredo), while Trippier was more free to focus on his offensive skills. João (and Koke, Llorente & Correa) hitting form plus Suárez seemingly an amazing fit, things are looking more hopeful than previous hopefuls!

But still just a hopeful so I consider it a bad omen with the possibility for a positive surprise

With Suarez getting in good shape and looking hungry coinciding with Joao showing some serious promise it's definitely added a dimension that hadn't been there in recent years. The defense is always going to be very stingy and also there is a lot of squad depth which will come in handy in this season when games are coming thick and fast. Carrasco, Vitolo, Correa, Lemar, Torreira, Herrera aren't going to start as much as the others but sure add good depth. Llorente turning out to be really good too given more confidence and freedom.

I look forward to our match with you guys. You’re in much better form than we are. I took a trip to Spain last year for 4 Barca matches. While I was at the Getafe/Barca match in the day I went to the Madrid derby at your stadium in the evening and it was amazing. Even though it ended 0-0, the atmosphere was like a CL final. Much respect. Best of luck the rest of the season.

But you can always count on Simeone not knowing how to counter Barça (in LaLiga) Either way best of luck to you too, I'm hoping for a great game in whatever way possible :)

Do you like Koeman so far? The guy can be stubborn but in some surroundings his (more recently developed) managing skillset/style can be a great fit.

I questioned the hiring at first, but despite not getting the results just yet I do think we are playing much better this season. He’s done a great job with the youth and getting Coutinho to shine. I do wish he’d actually play Puig m, absolutely bizarre that such a promise by player is out of the rotation, and I’d like to see a lot less from Busquets but so far I think Koeman has a lot of potential with this squad. Our poor finishing has let us down but hopefully that ship gets righted sooner than later!

Villareal-Real Madrid going to be interesting.

Mariano AND Lucas starting in Madrid front 3 today so much weaker than usual.

Villareal not at full strength either but they've got enough to get a draw at least I think.

Very bad game for Madrid.
In the second half you could smell Villarreal's goal.
Odegaard slightly better than other games but still without nerve. Hazard never trying 1vs1. A multitude of passes back.
He certainly doesn't look like a 100 million player.

That type of negative performance is not acceptable at Madrid even if they had won

Just noticed Marcelo on the bench for Madrid. Amazing to think he is only 32 year's old.. feel's like he's been around forever.
Debuted at Madrid in 2007.. Even more amazing he's been there for nearly 13 year's.

The league is open for Atletico to win it.
Honestly think it's a huge failure if they can't win it this year with Felix and Suarez giving them new dimension in attack. They will not get a better chance for however long Simeone remains there to win the league again.

Neither Barca or Real Madrid look capable of getting much over 80 points this year.

Honestly the team that survives the season better wins it. Quality doesn't matter all that much this season

Really? Don’t mean to be rude, but how on earth did you come up with that logic ???

I only saw a quick highlight reel, but how the hell did the Real goal count? The linesman raised the offsite flag (he was wrong to do so) which made some Villarreal players stop playing.
