I think quite a few people here need to get a grip.

Yes it was a tedious game and I actually get some of comparisons to LvG's teams, for some reason and I'm guessing it is confidence, alot of players seem to be scared of trying to pass inbetween the lines. There were quite a few times when a pass was on in that game only for various players, Rashford expecially, to play it safe rather than risk a pass.

I think a huge part of this is confidence. Your home record in the league has been very poor and the team were desperate for a win to stop the rot, regardless of how they got it.

3 points is step one, the next is to do it again, get a decent win against Istanbul there and that will also help.

Fred looks like he is trying to find those passes, as does Bruno, but not may others are, you need to take a few more risks, but when you're on such a poor home run, you can understand why players feel the need to play safe.

One step at a time, it's a funny season. You're above City and Arsenal (with a game in hand on them) and only 6 points off the top and 4 points off the top 4. Your start to the season hasn't been the best but it certainly hasn't been the worst of the top 6 either. This season is still very much in play for you.

Word of the season: Jammy.
Not sure about that, we were lucky against Brighton very lucky but other than that I'm not sure what other game we have played where we have been lucky?

It wasnt pretty against west Brom, but we deserved the victory I'm not sure what part luck played, west broms penalty was overturned because it wasnt a penalty and ours was awarded because it was, there is no luck it's a matter of fact.

Thank God I wasn't the only one feeling this game was horrible.

Matic on 73rd minute, with possession and half a yard against an opposing player facing the wrong way, still manages to lose possession. I would've sent him to China there and then.

Martial, what is his point of starting and missing so many chances in the first half and then just being marked out, dragged out and not know what to do in the 2nd half.

Dave - yes he saves.

Fred - well, if he gets a penalty I would bet my farm that he will not shoot but instead pass it to someone else. Is he afraid to get on the scoreline?

Cavani showing some good movements, but why isn't he starting, is Ole seeing something we don't? Stamina for 90mins perhaps? Why is he starting for Uruguay thousands of miles away then?

Rashford - well sometimes he turns up, other times he's planning on free meals for English kids. I prefer the former but do send us the latter (We're in Malaysia).

Telles - Didnt light up Old Trafford on his debut, but doesn't look bad either.

AWB - Does not offer much, it is obvious why Ole wants and needs a right winger.

completely agree with you mate. The drama from some of the fans on here is laughable.

During LVG we begged for someone to come and loosen the reigns a little and let our boys play.

towards the end under Jose we begged for someone, anyone to come and change the mindset so we didn’t sit back all game or at best after we went 1-0 up. Many on here said proudly they’d rather be relegated playing better football than suffer further under Jose.

Ole came in and whatever you think about his style, we do attack in games, the players do play with some freedom and he has brought youth through. All of that and in his only full season he got us top 4 too.

Now these fans want Ole gone, but instead of just saying they believe Potch or Alegri will get us winning titles they spout nonsense about the football under Ole being the worst it’s been since SAF. FAR FAR FROM IT.

I mean for goodness sake both Jose and LVG would probably have benched Bruno for giving the ball away and anyone with half a brain knows he’s our best player and that’s simply a side effect of being that creative midfield sort!

Trust the process or don’t, it doesn’t matter. Just don’t spout complete rubbish to try and support your view.
Very well said mate, I completely agree. For some reason a good portion of fans like to shout that the whole house is on fire, but then go one further and squeal about it being worse than ever before. It's a tactic to emphasise how bad things are, but it's fecking nonsense and stops any discussion dead in its tracks.

I think our fan base are more neurotic (well a proportion of them). That affects the perception of the football
Too right. It would make this place more fun again if some people were able to get a bit of perspective.

it wasn't a great game....but after international breaks are they ever?

If you'd asked me Saturday morning I'd have said the most important issue is to get 3 points......

Of course, it would have been better if we had performed better but as usual at home when we do not get an early breakthrough everything and everyone gets a bit tight and the patterns all start to look a bit predictable. It doesn't help by lining up with 2 defensive midfielders - especially against a defensive side.

Ole now needs to really think about mixing it up a bit for the next CL game as he can't go sending out the same/similar lineup again......

I'd like to see Cavani and VDB start a game and mix it up a bit. We've got to do something on the right side - we know that going forward we've been lacking the player there for a very long time but AWB is so poor going forward (just cuts back in all the time and then passes back to someone) - we've got to try something other than Mata!

We could try Williams as RB as he is RF and he does attack the box. Ole bought AWB though and can't see him being dropped unless injured. Play Greenwood or if not fit give VDB the RW he can't do any worse than Mata

We couldn't buy a goal. 17 shots, 7 on target, and the only goal we have is a pen. That game was crap because of individual crap play. We controlled most of the game, created plenty of chances, and never could capitalize.

I understand the Mata call, this was the kind of opponent where he should be a good choice, but it didn't work at all. I don't want to see Matic on the field for a while. And what's up with Rashford and Martial? It wasn't a lack of effort. Looks like a lack of confidence. Which makes no sense, given Rashford had a hat trick not that long ago.

But hey, a win at home for three points and a slight move up the table and no one went down to injury. Oh, and we still have a game in hand.

On to the return leg of Basaksehir...

Very well said. The 3rd place finish last season earned Ole another year. He would have to go winless for 8 straight matches or so for Woody to fire him. That is not going to happen.

Beside that we will probably win by 4 tomorrow.

Andrei Kanchelskis made me fall in love with Unite
Huge revisionism or forgetting the past.
It was a horror show under LVG with all the passing we did. No one even trying to shoot. The likes of Bruno would have been benched permanently
100% agree. People love to overreact. We were unwatchable under LVG for long periods - insomnia cures. Under Jose the performances were gutless (Sevilla anyone?), negative and unpredictable. Combine that with the pure toxicity around the club and it was depressing stuff. At least with Ole we're getting some great displays with some shite ones. Hopefully we'll continue to pick up wins and I think, when the confidence returns, we'll see much better performances.

How? 1 first half goal from us at home all season in the league. 1 goal from open play. Just as bad. I’ve no doubt it will get better and I don’t think we’re as bad as we were under LVG but the home league games have absolutely been that bad.

It was a bad game no doubt, but if based on this one game, and one must compare to LVG, then sure, we may have reached similar lows. But, overall on a better day we have reached better heights than LVG. Still there is no point to make this comparison because why do we compare to LVG? Shouldn't a club like MUFC always compare to Fergie days? Based on that, I'm sure it is not good enough, and it has already been acknowledged by Ole himself. The question we must ask, is how long will this continue?
