Agreed, I don’t think we will go for Sancho.
I think Solskjaer has the below two sets of 6 in his mind within the next two years.

Greenwood-Martial-Rashford-Haaland-Pellistri-Diallo.

Bruno-Grealish-New DLP-Fred-Mctominay-VDB.

Then maybe a one in one out policy which will be shaped by the core values of our club.
pellistri is more of a chance signing. One of those that might come good and be worth 50+ mil or might turn into nothing. He was only 8 mil and whilst he may come good, I think it’s an investment in the pink sheets (high risk, high reward) but for a club of our size, we can chance it. I don’t think he is to be considered a long term plan, at least at the moment.

grealish has gone now too I think. Though I guess we have pogba though whether we will have in two years remains to be seen.

I like the concept though, think you need 2 players for every position. You can see we are not miles away. Squad is starting to take shape.

I am starting to wonder if the club have moved on from Sancho? Obviously transfer rumours will die down once the window shuts but it seems quite telling that the rumours we have gotten have linked us back to Haaland. Doesn’t make sense for the RW to be completely forgotten about just because we didn’t address it in the last window so maybe the club is looking at one of the two ’reserve’ players to be the answer?

Also quite telling that Sancho’s form seemingly hasn’t been all that since the failed move either

Personally hope he’s still on the agenda and one we’ll move for again next summer (I did hope in January but given we’ve given his number to Cavani probably unlikely)

It's just my opinion but for the price Dortmund want for Sancho I dont think anyone except a British club would want him.

Dortmund messed it up with the one of few clubs that would pay near to what they want.

Normally a player with the hype of Sancho gets linked to Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern, City, Juventus, Liverpool, United, Chelsea - I only saw him get thoroughly linked to the english clubs.

I'm not surprised he wasnt consistently linked with the foreign league clubs because he isnt as consistent as he seems to be viewed by the premiere league watchers/british community.

Compare Haaland's CL performances to Sancho and it's easy to see why the hype for signing Haaland is spread across many different leagues and clubs already.

Alternative to Sancho? The diamond formation! Give our best players a chance to play together.

Second option. Diallo, in a few years he’ll probably be our first choice right sided winger/forward.

If we've found a formation that gets the best out of Martial, Rashford, Fernandes and Pogba then I'm all aboard the diamond express.

Thuram is nowhere near Sancho, I’m not even sure he’d make our starting 11
Thuram is a good player who can play in all 3 forward roles, he'd add wide coverage and offer us another striker who can hold the ball up without needing to sacrifice pace and mobility.

Domenico Berardi at Sassuolo, probably not in the mould of Sancho but a very solid performer for a less than fashionable side, very capable goalscorer.

Watching him now, we really, really missed a trick with not even having an interest in Ferran Torres.

maybe its too early, but good material lies in Antony (ajax). Hard working, creative baller who is also productive. Lets see how he will evolve.

Yeah, I agree - he seems destined to be another one off the Ajax production line to get a big move sooner or later

Thought Rashford looked comfortable/dangerous on the right today. If he can keep that up then that gives us so many options with Greenwood, James, Cavani and Martial able to vie for 2 other spots.

Squad options starting to look good even before the 2 new RW kids ready to kick on.

Grealish if we can settle with Rashford on the right. I can’t find other alternative, so far what I read above are just unproven names. If you want unproven and young one then we shouldn’t spend one since we have Diallo.

Pity we didn’t go for Ziyech instead of laying all our hopes on Sancho down the line .

Has he played on the right? How did he do?

If we’re not going to buy Sancho or someone who’s a quality right sided attacker who’ll be a first choice then why bother wasting the money ? We’ve got Greenwood (long term he’s a centre forward though), Diallo, Bellestri AND Chong as young players with potential so why buy another ? It’s either Sancho or a quality proven player who’ll instantly start or use the money elsewhere like a pacey centre back or pure defensive midfielder.

No. Or may be he did when he was teen since I do remember he played wide left and right on his first few appearances in his first team professional games. Either way doesn’t matter since if we swap Martial to Grealish that will still do.

Rafael - sign him from Basaksehir in January, stick him on the wing in front of AWB and ignore all logic that says it's a stupid idea :D

Really hope we are done with the Sancho saga nonsense. We need an RW in their prime. Our attackers - James Cavani Pellistri Diallo Greenwood Martial and Rashford are mostly young and inconsistent. We don't need to add another player of the same mould to that list. I'd get Ocampos

Sancho despite being younger is more consistent and a level above Ocampos so you point about buying Ocampos doesn't make sense at all.

Ocampos is not that good mate.

Relax about Sancho. I actually think Dortmund will ask less than 100m and somehow we manage to sign him. Dortmund lost 40m end of last season due to fans restriction for 2 months football covid period, imagine how much money they can lose if it‘s 10 months covid period with fans restriction in the stadium by end of this season. They will be forced to sell one of their asset.

Looked very good against us last season, maybe @KirkDuyt and other Dutch posters might give us more insight on his form this season?
He's talented, but light weight in all senses of the word. If he can mature, he is a potentially good player, but Im not convinced yet. AZ had a lot of promising players in the last few seasons who ended up being underwhelming.

He dribbles like Robben though, very pleasing style. And his hair is much better too.

Thanks for the insight, he looked bright vs United when we played them, albeit as you say, a little lightweight. Hopefully he can kick on this season, has he played much for the Dutch NT?

He's had a quiet start to this season. So has Boadu. But was great last season after a terrible injury about 2 years ago. 2 assist on his debt for The Netherlands.

They were two big factors behind AZ's push for the title last season. I think they would have won The Eredivisie last season had the league continued.

The Icelandic lad, Guðmundsson, has been in good form for them. Aboukhal too when he starts.

Wijndal is a good prospect at LB. Koopmeiners and de Witt are solid midfield players for them. Both are 22.

AZ are good at snapping up Ajax and PSV's players who aren't deemed good enough.

How about Saint-Maximin,he has shown glimpses of what he can do at Newcastle and maybe will flourish on a bigger stage.

I don't think we should have tunnel vision on Sancho when a cheaper buy gives us more money to spend on a CB & CDM.

plays on the left sadly, but he definitely deserves to move to a bigger team.
