Thank god we are playing under a lockdown. He could’ve taken someone’s head off with those attempts.

It's a bizarre comment, he has a great first touch and that's evident so to suggest that's an issue is bizarre. I think you're trying to say that it's an issue that the left back has one of the best first touches but that again is bizarre?
Did I say he doesn’t have a good first touch? Great is a tad strong but Fred is considered the most undervalued player in England by some on here so I’ll forgive the hyperbole.

You’re wrong in your thinking, read what’s written - don’t assume for arguments sake. Full backs [take a Kimmich for example] can be damn good technically & even be some of the best players on the pitch in overall ability. [had to state the bleeding obvious but this is Red Caf.]

I haven’t called Shaw a bad player. My opinion is when a fullback who offers little more tangible impact in attack than AWB has [one of] the best touch in your team you aren’t going to do much as a team.

I’d back Luke Shaw’s first touch over McTominay/Fred’s in a number of situations; that bodes terribly which was my point.

What is bizarre is your assumption.
So you're saying Shaw's level of touch is worse than any players in the top teams?

I highly doubt that. Still, weird comment.
No I’m not saying anything about Shaw’s ‘level of touch’ [whatever the hell you believe that is] I’ll expand on what I mean as you’re rather lost.

When a left back that doesn’t particularly contribute in assists or goals is considered one of your more technically assured players, that [to me] is a major issue. It’s hardly as if he’s a constant playmaking threat. He’s got a few decent combination plays in him but he’s barely using that first touch to create for us.

To clarify as you’re hard of reading, we are f’d if Luke Shaw’s touch is considered something to get passionate about on this forum.

Now settle yourself.

To be fair though you did write in one sentence.

Thought he was trying too hard to force his crossing. Probably just nerves, needs to relax. Good to know we have 2 good options at LB. Displacing Shaw won't be easy at all though, for my money, Shaw's been our best player this season.

Just a quality player. Tenacious defensively, good in the air and a wand of a left foot.

He loves that early ball delivery. I like his aggression. Stark contrast from Shaw who makes running look like a task though that might just be his physique deceiving me

Definitely a very good player there, and we're getting him at his best years. The competition between him and Shaw will bring the best out of both.

good player. By all account his attacking is his strength, that’s what we’ve seen - we haven’t seen him tested defensively so far. Hopefully he’s up to it.

Another good performance, I really like how he wants to be forward up the pitch, not holding hands with the centre backs. Really important part of our attack especially first half

Poor start but grew into the game well. Having his crosses coupled with a striker who can actually head the ball is a godsend.

Telles continues to impress me. I haven't seen the numbers but he looked to me to have done very well in individual duels. Also made some very important contributions to our attacking play. Its early days but so far it seems like money well spent.

Our only defender who I could actually see being a starter in a title challenging club.

Ironic he’s the cheapest if the lot. 13m is a bloody steal!

After a poor clearance that led to Ba having a shot, I thought Telles performed well. His crosses appear quite difficult to defend, though their keeper made a horrible blunder for Fernandes' 2nd goal.

It will be interesting to see if our forwards get themselves in position to make the most of Telles' crosses.

Agree with this. Overall he just seems much more constructive going forward than Shaw. He certainly got more crosses in in this match than Shaw usually does.

Wish AWB could do something similar from the other side. One reason why Liverpool are so good.

His crosses and set pieces will be mentioned in opposing dressing rooms, in contrast to Wan Bissaka and Shaw's attacking threat. (Shaw is improving)

We will score more more corners with him taking them aswell.

Love his game. He has the one thing that none of our FB's have. Fantastic crossing ability. And it's not just how good his crossing is, it's that he looks for it. I like that when he gets the ball wide around 30 yards out, he's looking to whip in a cross behind the last defender and in front of the keeper. This is the ball that Robertson and TAA love to play. Now our strikers have to be aware of this and start making runs as soon as they see Telles is getting the ball. If you don't have Telles on your fantasy team, add him now. He is going to get a ton of assists...

What does it mean completed cross, that there was a shot at the end? Does that count as a chance?

Seems pretty easy to get high numbers on that stat if you're taking corners no?

Nice to have a threat like that. With good whipped in crosses, even if they don't connect they can land better for our players to pick up and go again. instead of being headed out easily, keeper claiming it or going out for a goal kick etc.

His crossing really is a breath of fresh air, likewise Cavani's no. 9 play. Been a while since we've seen those at the club.

Think we need to see how Telles defends against a Salah/Sterling/Ziyech before we get too carried away. Hasn't got properly tested defensively at all yet
Telles vs Liverpool. Although the compilation is probably only his good moments.

Good game and all, but his insane scar makes him infinitely cooler than any other player on the pitch.

We stole him off Porto at that price. Love his tenacity and willingness to get an early ball in. It just asks questions of the opposition that we haven’t been asking in a long time.

Yeah, what’s the story there? Looks like a craniotomy scar.
"They symbolise my story and my career," Telles said last year.

The history of the scars date back to 2013 when a 19-year-old Telles was making waves for Gremio in his native Brazil. Telles came out on the worse side of the collision. He broke his nose, cheekbone and eye socket in one go. As a result, he would be forced to undergo surgery that saw metal plates and screws inserted into his face.

Would you ask this for TAA? Attacking fullback usually is not that good defensively.

Yeah, what’s the story there? Looks like a craniotomy scar.
Grêmio were playing bitter rivals Internacional and Telles, given the chance to play ahead of on-loan Arsenal man André Santos, went in for an aerial challenge with opposing full-back Gabriel.

Mário Pereira, a fitness coach at Grêmio, remembers it well. “It was a very complicated episode”, he tells i.
“At first it just looked like another clash of heads, but with the scans, the gravity of the injury was seen.”

Telles had broken his nose, check bone and eye socket and would undergo a complex operation to insert metal plates and screws into his face.

He basically broke his entire face playing football. And he still looks fearless.

Enjoy having him, he's a very different style of left back to Shaw and they're two very useful options to have. Shaw is a better dribbler and has maybe the best first touch at the club, their passing is fairly similar to me so far, and Telles looks the superior crosser (though Luke got a few nice assists before getting injured) and set piece taker. Defensively Telles hasn't been tested a ton yet so I'll hold off on judgement, but we know Shaw is an adept 1v1 defender. and passer.

Glad he got put back onto most of the corners, his delivery is just wicked and I'd much rather have Bruno at the edge of the box.
