After a few days of more serious use, I've come to the conclusion that the console is a bug-ridden, crash-happy piece of shit.

Extended drives are a mess, especially with large libraries. They basically work 50% of the time, the rest of the time your whole library (including local stuff) is unavailable whilst it sorts its shit out. And it insists on downloading EVERYTHING even though the drive is full, so I have a constant loop error. I can't see away to turn this 'feature' off.
Display options are gimped and there are handshake issues with the supplied cable and all my devices (I tested a generic Samsung 50 from last year, a Q90R and a Faux K projector), using both the supplied and my own cables.
Crashes constantly, in any status, in any game (apart from Astro) (It even crashed whilst doing literally nothing on the dashboard, just gave me a feck you and blacked out).

It's a mess.

It’s a pretty ropey launch isn’t it? I don’t recall my PS4 or 3 having any issues at all. I certainly didn’t babysit them! I hope that by the time i get mine in December (hopefully!) Many of the big issues will have been resolved and I can just use it how I want to.

I got lots of crashes on my PS4, didn't even buy it at launch. Destiny being one of the biggest culprits.

Edit: Why the feck are you guys having so many issues? (touches wood) Have you tried to figure out what causes them?

I would look into a replacement personally, it just sounds like you have a dodgy one. Without doubt they have not released these with proper external drive support though, I would expect a patch fairly sharpish for it.

I'm using an external drive fwifw... Same one I used on the PS4, I just plugged it out the PS4 and plugged it into the PS5 and it worked. Maybe it's a certain type of drive that's the issue?

Most likely that is the case, the issue appears to be widespread enough to justify legitimate concerns about it.

Reading this thread definitely makes me want to go for more platinums. I’ve just looked through my trophy list and on Fifa 14 I was on 98% and just needed to subscribe to a newsletter which is painful. I’ve only got two platinums at the moment, Skyrim and Assassins Creed but I think looking through my list I could have gone for more. Maybe that’s my next gen resolution!

Screw you and a big feck on your face, Damo. I never did get Flawless Raider or Raiding Party. I had every single weapon in the game. I completed everything there was to complete, many times over. I earned Gjallarhorn 7 times, ffs! But I never managed to get that Platinum. It burns me every time I am looking at my trophy list.

Yeh I can’t imagine ever being a prope trophy hunter and trying to dig deep for the really difficult ones as I just lose interest. If anything I need to stop playing so many games and make sure I finish the one I’m playing first!

I might do, it's obv under warranty. I will also give them a couple more patches. Whilst I didn't use it a lot at launch, it was fine and stable. For now, I'm going straight into the TV and using optical out for sound and it seems happier (before was going through AVR or soundbar) picture wise.

I'm using a 4TB Seagate drive that I had on PS4, I think it might be more stable (hope) once it's decided that it's updated / redownloaded everything. I'm not sure why it is downloading anything though as the drive was up to date. If not, I will unplug the drive for now.

Depends how you see it, it's certainly more than most people would care for, but there are about 200 users on psnprofiles with more than a 1000 of them.

It's different for every game, some of them are a blast to complete. Some of them are fun until you get to the one trophy in the end which turns into a grindfest.
And not all of them are long Triple A-Games of course... a lot are short and cheap/free, some of them fun, some of them shit.
It's just so satisfying to see them pop and to fill that damn progress bar to 100%.
Hate multiplayer trophies though, especially for older games.

Not a fan of trophies majority of it is grinding pointless stuff, i appear to have two platinums though Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2.

Definitely get a replacement. Not tried external drives as it isn't something I'm bothered about but in a week of usage, I've 'only' had the one incident of a game crashing. Everything else has been fine.

I can’t fecking believe this just happened. I was excited that I received an email yesterday saying my parcel will arrive tomorrow at 10am. Here I am waiting for DPD. Finally he shows up and....he fecking gives it to someone else 4 DOORS DOWN! So I’m like ok there’s probably another parcel. Nope, he just drives off and so I check my tracking thing and says he’s delivered it. I’m fuming at this point because the neighbour would probably just pretend he didn’t get anything. So I gotta work up and go over to him. And guess what...I just see the box put OUTSIde the damn door and there’s no one answering TF. I walk up the steps and see my name on the box with my house number 36 on it. NOT 32, I’m like “you stupid motherffff”. Thankfully there was no drama after that. And now she’s home. Yeees! Sweet Christmas!

These crashes all sound game related - Miles Morales sounds like the main culprit unfortunately.

I've only played Astro and Destiny 2 on my PS5 so far and not a sniff of any problems at all. Looks like i'll be holding off on MM until they get a patch in place to stop these crashes.

Same for me, no issues whatsoever.

Whilst mine may be faulty - or I think it's more likely to be the external drive - COD crashed earlier, but it wasn't running and it wasn't suspended; just got a random error that it had been a bit rubbish and would I mind telling Sony all about it. The console was downloading other stuff for another title to the external drive at the time.

I've also had in-game crashes in MM and in Spiderman remastered, never Astro

If it's a story-driven game, I usually play through the game as I want, but I check a guide if there's something missable I should look for.
Then I'll make a clean-up run. Most open world games you can finish in free-roam after the ending which isn't really much of a chore. (like Horizon ZD, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Far Cry and so on). TLOU2 was a pain, cause you had to play the whole game twice to find enough upgrades.

If it's something like a sport or racing game (F1 2020 is going to be #72 as it looks), I'll check an effective way to tackle the trophies beforehand.

Often I don't stop at the platinum and finish all of the DLCs as well to keep 100% completion. Driveclub and Driveclub Bikes had a total of 26(!!) additional trophy lists after the two platinums, I had to complete them all.

I'm surprised you didn't get those - especially the Raiding Party one.

I'm just disappointed not to have got the 100% but the DLC Trophy Pack 2 was a killer as I couldn't find anyone to do WotM.

On Destiny 2 I'm just the Belly Of The Beast trophy away from another Platinum.

Games I'm 2 or 3 trophies away from Platting:

1. Destiny 2 (1 trophy - Belly Of The Beast)
2. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout (2 trophies - will never get this as not going to win 5 episodes in a row)
3. FIFA14 (2 trophies - Silver Lining and Legendary, think they're probably impossible to get now but not checked)
4. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (3 trophies - all speedruns for levels, probably doable but I'd need a bit of time)
5. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (3 trophies - again, all speedruns)
6. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (3 trophies - speedruns)

Yeah, never got them. We came close to getting Flawless Raider once, if I remember correctly, but someone died to Ir Yut - The Deathsinger, in the room before Crota.

I tend to play through normally but I tend to play most games on the hardest difficulty and I tend to complete any side-missions before any main storyline ones. I also take my time and try to scour for collectables as I go. Once I have my first natural completion, then I will go on the hunt for trophies - first using the list and then using guides for the secret ones.

Finished Miles Morales... very good game & it’s definitely better in performance mode. I’m hoping Spider-Man 2 will be a co-op game, maybe similar to Arkham Knights.

Mine is now crashing every story mission or so on Spiderman Remastered

It's mostly not a huge deal since it's saving constantly, but if I'm mid mission or in the middle of clearing a den it's pretty annoying

I didn't get any at the start.

Only had the option to report the error one time. And then earlier I had a weird crash where mid combat the controller just stopped working. It was still on, still had battery but Spiderman just wouldn't respond.

Absolutely loving the game anyway. If it was more of a slog then the crashes would bother me more.

Bought Dragon Ball Z Kakarot in the Black Friday sale last night. First time I have played a PS4 game on PS5.

Not sure what the PS4 experience was like, but it loads lightning fast on PS5
