I really hope he gets his revenge on Neymar and the rest of PSG one day. The way they mocked him last season.

He strikes me as the type of kid to use that to motivate him. He lives to score goals. Great drive.
They where cheap, they got butthurt from a teenager, who didn't even try to bully them.

But, i doubt he cares, he seems so focused on the football. He also said he don't care.

He's not far off equalling Mbappes CL goal count and to put it into perspective, he's already surpassed the total amount of CL goals Ronaldo managed while at United. Pretty incredible given he's done this in two seasons.

(yes I know he's a CF and Ronnie played on the wing for us, but does suggest he can hit some crazy numbers in the CL if he chooses his career path wisely).

Håland is starting to get insane. Looks like he is still improving which is scary as he is probably already the second best CF in the world at 20. Has he now breached the goal in under 90 mins for Dortmund? If he keeps going this kid could end up with something like 700 club goals by the time he retires.

To answer your question:

He has never been below a goal per 90 for Dortmund. For Dortmund he's at:

33 goals in 2318 minutes -> 70 minutes per goal
He also has 6 assists for Dortmund, bringing his contribution to 39 goals in 2318 minutes -> 59 minutes per goal contribution.

Christiano has 647 goals in 69854 minutes of club football -> 108 minutes per goal
Messi has 640 goals in 60259 minutes of club football -> 94 minutes per goal

If he maintains his scoring rate and avoid serious injury he will crush those numbers without even improving.....as crazy as that sounds.
He is though....Improving.

PS! Career total for Haaland since joining Molde in 2017 (at 16 years old) : 82 goals in 6574 minutes -> 80 minutes per goal.

Sometimes things happen for reasons unknown to us at the time.
Greenwood has been given more time to develop, plus Rashy and Martial also receive more playing time in a steady attack.

We will 100% be in for Haaland with his rumoured €65m release clause in 2021. But this time we will be fighting with Barca, Real, City, PSG and Bayern for his signature unfortunately.

Camp Haaland believed it was only Solskjaer who really wanted him at Utd and didn't feel it enough from the whole club (can we agree to blame Woody, lol). Lets hope we offer him £250-300k per week and pull out all the stops. He is unbelievably clincial, reminds me of Ruud so much at times.

Most reliable sources claims the release clause is 75M EUR and kicking in summer 2022.

I wonder if Dortmund might be open to bigger offers this summer... suspect the player (and agent) wont care as long as they make at least as much as they expect in 2022
I guess Dortmund would consider any serious offers around marketvalue and above. 75M in 2022 will be miles below marketvalue.
Player and agents will probably consider offers next summer if they are attractive enough, but I think they like the idea of having mulitiple suitors fighting it out over agent and sign on fees, contracts and a key role in the clubs plansfor the future when the clause finally kicks in. Only challenge is that the number of suitors that can afford him is growing smaller and smaller...Maybe only RM, City, PSG and us capable of laying 120M + on the table right now, and I don't think he will even consider PSG.
Would be fun to see what happens if someone goes for him already next summer

Neymar and Mbappe are also available (in theory) as free agents in summer 2022 (unless PSG extend or cash in before then) so I think the next few transfer windows could see some crazy wages and or transfer fees (throw messi into the mix for the potentially crazy wages as well i guess... might well hurt Haalands negotiating position though if in summer 2022 he costs €75m whilst Mbappe and Neymar are available for free because the same few clubs will probably be linked with all 3)

Worth mentioning is that he and his advisors have chosen development, playing time and release clause over money and status at every crossroad so far (RBS over Juve and 2 x wage, BVB over us and almost 2 x wage). The next one will be the big one, so I guess money and status comes in play then.

Just found this scary bit of statistics for goal contribution per team total goals. The statistics include all senior matches (Club and NT) throughout the career for all the players (for Haaland that includes his games for Bryne and Molde plus RBS and BVB). There is a new name on top of the list, and he is 20 years old.....

Diego Maradona match career reports (1976-1997) | Page 17 | BigSoccer Forum
Not surprising really. If he can keep the intensity of his attacking play and, perhaps more importantly, the incredible levels of agility for his size, then he will surely end up being the undisputed best of all time. It's ridiculous how good he is right now.

I'd say he's as dangerous as peak R9.

Woah, behave. I don't think Haaland has what it takes to be a potential best of all time candidate or even compared to R9. Yes, his goal output is ridiculous but there's more to football than that and in most other aspects, Haaland isn't really elite.

People put way too much emphasis on goal stats, especially at a young age. The technical side of a player's game is way harder to develop post 20 than tactical and fitness related aspects. It was the same with Mbappe a few years ago.

That is the same thinking that got a lot of you into that sancho- desperation in the first place. Dortmund is a football club.

Dortmund will always value playing time over money. If Haalang continues to be such a monster they will likely keep him another year. They will most likely sell Sancho and with haaland that could be 200 million for them. That’s simply to much money to spend it wisely and loosing two first team players will not be in their best interest.

I think he'll go down as one of the best CF's ever. Not so sure about being one of the best players ever. There is a lot of emphasis on creativity when it comes to picking best players ever.

Seems to have an Ronaldo-esque drive. It will probably be between him and Mbappe for the Ballon D'or in a few years.

It's like watching the biggest kid is school running rings around the others with him at times. Not many players can do that the CL. I agree that his attributes are far from complete, and may never be. But, as I said, if he can keep up his intensity and physicality then the scoring records will tumble.

See, usually young players have deficits in terms of decision making, off the ball movement, composure and physique. Cristiano is a prime example of that. Technically he was probably already better than 99% of professional players when he turned 18. But he wasn't world class since he lacked maturity in the aforementioned attributes. It's common that those things develop later on since the motoric/technical development happens early on. You rarely see a player improving that aspect of his game significantly after turning 20. He might get more consistent in his touches, dribbling and passing but again, this primarily has to do with his composure, ability to focus and his stamina, not his technical quality. Haaland on the other hand isn't bad technically but he's not elite either. He, like Mbappe, were always very mature for their age. But this also means that they'll have a harder time developing that aspect of their game even further. However, when you compare them to prodigies like Messi or R9 or GOAT candidates like Maradona, Pele etc. they definitely come short technically. Even Mbappe, who's more of a dribbler than Haaland and more agile, also has the occasional bad touch to his game.

So Haaland might be able to beat their goal records but I don't see him outperforming them enough to compensate for his remaining shortcomings in terms of overall contribution. Also, I think people underestimate the insane consistency you have to achieve in order to get where Cristiano for example currently is in terms of career stats. It's not a given that they maintain their focus for so long, it's by no means a given that they stay injury free and it's still very unlikely that they produce these enormous statistical outliers of 60+ goal seasons.

good post. Lots of young players have burned brightly before turning average. By no means the same type of striker, but Owen is a good example, Fowler as well. Most players won’t maintain the sort of form for a prolonged period of time, but of course some do.

I do think he’s similar to Lukaku in many ways as a front player. But looks to have the mental strength to be a top player, which Lukaku shockingly lacks. Be good to see how he develops. Not quite been at Dortmund a year yet, but what a year.

Only if Mbappe leaves PSG, he has stagnated and runs the risk of other young players overtaking him. Haaland is 18 months younger than Mbappe and for me is already better.

PS! Career total for Haaland since joining Molde in 2017 (at 16 years old) : 82 goals in 6574 minutes -> 80 minutes per goal.
That is actually insane. A goal contribution every 59 mins is crazy in the modern game. Obviously, his sample size is still relatively small but I cannot remember anyone having figures like that in the post 1980s. I know Jimmy Greaves had insane numbers as a kid so maybe there can be some correlation there.

I guess Dortmund would consider any serious offers around marketvalue and above. 75M in 2022 will be miles below marketvalue.

Add Chelsea too. Chelsea love nothing more than a fixed fee buy out/gentlemans agreement. Kante, Costa, Cesc, Werner, Ziyech and Kepa off the top of my head were all buy outs/gents agreement buys (Kovacic also sort of fits this albeit via a loan).

Further, once Giroud leaves and you place Werner as a SS/LWF, they should really be in the market for a CF.

Imo, Haaland also comes to England, no way does he go to PSG owing to the quality of the league (he is too ambitious) and I cannot see him in Spain as his game isn't best suited to it. Bayern is the only non-English club I reckon he will consider.

Not sure anyone has said he will become a GOAT, rather that he is on course to be the best CF of his generation. I agree that isn't going to be the case, however he also doesn't really play in a position that allows him to do so as most classed in this category play in midfield somewhere.

So, yes, not technically gifted enough to be a GOAT but yes, has enough about him to become the best CF of his generation.

This has United signing written all over it. A fecking norwegian wonderkid center forward  He gives me such a douchebag vibe though.

Madrid would love to pair him up with Odegaard, be sure of it.

Borussia Dortmund issue Erling Haaland transfer update amid Manchester United and Man City links

Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has moved to dismiss the suggestion star striker Erling Haaland could leave the club next year.
The Norwegian forward is one of the most exciting young talents in European football, with a host of clubs believed to be interested in signing him next year.

Manchester United attempted to sign Haaland in the January transfer window but the 20-year-old snubbed a move over concerns about his own long-term success at the club.
Haaland has also been linked with a move to Manchester City with many supporters viewing him as the ideal successor to Sergio Aguero at the Etihad.

Both sides might be tempted to make an approach for Haaland at some point in the new year but Zorc insists Dortmund are planning for the future with Haaland in their squad.
"We plan for the long term with Erling. [Rumours] do not have to be dealt with at all," the director told a press conference ahead of the Bundesliga clash against Koln on Saturday. "I will see him with us for a long time."

Haaland has scored 33 goals in his first 31 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions, with his latest goals coming in a 3-0 home win over Club Brugge in the Champions League this week.

It has been a remarkable start to life in Germany for the former RB Salzburg forward but Zorc insists the best is yet to come.
He added: "You don't have to ground him at all. He exudes such a positive dynamic. Why should we slow it down now? He is leading the way, that is very good for us. I do not believe in artificially slowing positive developments."

It seems Dortmund need to sell him soon otherwise why bring it up. Was he specifically asked?

Not surprising really. If he can keep the intensity of his attacking play and, perhaps more importantly, the incredible levels of agility for his size, then he will surely end up being the undisputed best of all time. It's ridiculous how good he is right now.

I'd say he's as dangerous as peak R9.
Slow down there chief, Haaland is an excellent player putting up really good stats and is surely going to improve but he is still tiers away from peak R9.

He was comfortably putting up insane numbers all the while being the best dribbler, passer, finisher, movement not just on the pitch but in the world.

Pre-injury R9 is in the conversation for GOAT, it’s a travesty those injuries set him back. Post-injury R9 was still one of the best in the world which says it all.

Haaland is insane, but he isn’t R9.

Can people wait a bit before the greatest of all time talks ?

Let's see how he does it for a few years and more importantly, let's see how he does it in a better league. I remember a certain Mkhitaryan that had crazy numbers in Germany before we recruited him. Haaland has not even had one year at Dortmund yet and is already seen as 2nd best in the world by some here...

Some posters are talking about 700 club goals... Messi has around 700 goals total (club + international)... Others are comparing him to Ronaldo 9 ...

How did peak R9 do against the mighty FC Köln today?

One game? seriously? Ronaldo never had off days? Haaland scored 12 goals in the last 7 games before the one agains Koln..

Haaland will continue to score and be great due to his mentality and work ethics. But I agree with many here, no reasons to compare and hype. Haaland is Haaland. Not Ronaldo. He has similarities but they are different. Let the numbers talk, I have a feeling Haaland will continue to score bucketloads every season and in the Premier League also when he comes. ..hopefully for United.

I really hope he gets his revenge on Neymar and the rest of PSG one day. The way they mocked him last season.

He strikes me as the type of kid to use that to motivate him. He lives to score goals. Great drive.
He is the one who started it on IG a few days before the return leg. He got a taste of his own medecine

I hope you are kidding with putting Greenwood on that list .
Don't get me wrong he is a great talent but if anybody of the young stars deserves to be on that list it's Mbappe and that's also a stretch and waaay too early.
