Its the subtle movements in the box that matter. Only on replays do you acknowledge his intelligence even more.

I thought he was past it when he first arrived but I admit I was wrong. Two great goals today and I just knew when that cross came in for his second goal today that if Cavani made contact it is going in.
Even without the goals and the assist, his pressing is unvaluable from up front to annoy their DMs and their CBs

He comes from Uruguay, now just imagine if he’d manage make the scousers cry as well this season. His movement and anticipation is top class, exactly what we need in so many situations

No way to know for sure but I'm still fecking sure no one else in the team is scoring this
No chance, we don’t have another player in the squad in that mould.

Don’t get me wrong Martial, Rashford, Greenwood are all very capable but they’re totally different types of players, none of them could have scored either of those goals in that way.

Cavani's energy, workrate and movement is fantastic. He's kept himself in extremely good shape. Great professionalism.

Cavani is in his prime years. He is a fitness maniac and thoroughly professional. He is the best in-box striker in the world. Shrewd move. I believe it was Ole choice (obvious reasons)

I don't have time now to scroll. But remember all those posts? It is Ed's rubbish signing, he is finished, another Alexis, it is not backing to our manager and shit like that. Some fans ( and G.Neville) were against signing him.
He is currently our best striker.
Yep and remember when peoplewere comparing him to Falcao?

This lad is mental. Today was close to Van Persie type impact from 12/13 season, if I remember correctly, also against Soton, the dirty lumber twats.

I love his ugly head so much
Beautiful header though

His running into space on both his goal

Thats something no other striker in our team has

I hope martial watched the game
The thing is we hoped for the same thing when Zlatan joined, we hoped that Martial would learn from him and develop to be a bit more like a classic number 9. It didn't happen. Martial's play style seems natural and instincive, kinda hard expecting him to change it. He is no Zlatan, RvP, Cavani and probably never will.

So happy with that, looking more Zlatan than Falcao.

No one else in the team would have made those runs for his goals. Got an assist too for Bruno's too

Watch and learn Anthony.

Surely now Ole will see the difference it makes when we play with a proper Centre Forward instead of Martial.

Let Rashford and Martial fight it out to play out wide and keep a real number 8 in the middle

He's one of those players that always popped up in the "I've never seen him play well threads" but he's been world class for 5+ years now and he showed that today.

Love him to bits. No other player in our squad could dream of goals like this. Perfect movement in the box

Cavani is the only player we have who gets in that position to have scored those two headers
Hard to disagree with this. Big fan of Martial but I don’t see him or anyone else making those runs for those headers.

Different dimension of player and a great option to have but not our future.

Martial or Rashford as striker today and this would have ended 2-0 to Southampton.

Edinson fecking Cavani !! No questions. He saved us today.

You got it wrong mate. PSG froze him completely, if it were up to him, he would have played every single game even if it meant leaving on a free. He is too much of a pro to do what you thought he did
They announced they weren't renewing his contract but they did the same for Thiago Silva (I know he was more central to their plans) and they worked out something for him to stay on, I can't believe that Tuchel would rather have had to use Choupo-Moting in the semis and the final than Cavani but maybe that's wrong of me. The main thing for us is that he looks really sharp and motivated (which is the player I had always seen him as which is why I was concerned that maybe that had gone slightly) and a real asset to our team.

His movement is arguably best in the world, at least at his peak he was relentless and up there with the best in the world.

The goals he scored, none of our other strikers would have scored, not because they lack finishing, it's because they don't gamble and make that movement.

Been at the club 5 minutes and already gives the impression he cares more, and is prepared to work more than most

He looks very hungry, hopefully we'll keep him as fit as possible till the end of the season, make Martial finally work harder or replace him soon because, this is simply what we were lacking, hold up play, pressing from up front, killer instincts in the box.

We know Martial is more of a playmaker rather than a classic no9 but doesn't justify his lack of effort off the ball and even lazy kind of effort with the ball, not making any runs, lazy dribbling and easy loss of possession.

Cavani can open our eyes and he only came from a top flight "retirement"..

Happy for us and the bloke, seems like a genuienely nice person
