Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

You'd think he was facing Pep's Barcelona based on that post. To not even try to attack against a Chelsea team that's far from great in an empty stadium, when you have Son and Kane, is just shite.
This is the Jose way, defend all game and hope that one of the world class forwards creates something or they get a set piece.

They started the season off very well, but in the last 5 games their attacking form has dropped down a level, to the point where they're now starting to really struggle to get shots on target. Only a matter of time before their luck runs out and they drop points on a regular basis imo. Don't really blame Jose playing his usual Jose football, it gets him results even if its dull as shite.

Top of the league through luck? So it's not it's because we have conceded the fewest goals and have scored only goal less than Liverpool? OK.

We started the season "very well"? We lost the opening game, at home.

All these shots-stats count for little - what does count is goals scored and goals conceded.

Whats the matter at hand? Dele got a free ride for about 2 season, constantly picked, constantly under preformed, needed dropped. Ndombele the same, except he has came back a different player and all praise for him.
You quoted my post, did you not read what I was replying to? Glaston would like to paint a blissful harmony at Spurs, I pointed out that maybe that’s not the case for everybody.

There were several attacks. I can't help it if you choose to ignore them. Nor can I help it if you think an away draw against Chelsea is embarrassing. And nor can I help it if you think, regardless of the opposition faced, there is only one "non-embarrassing" way to play football.

I didn't mention blissful harmony, I merely mentioned the absence of a circus - such as that which existed at United.

Wait, he tried to attack and still got a 0.0 xG in the first half with Son and Kane in the team? That's actually worse.

Feel free to remember me in the next few weeks when your form falls to pieces and you're crying into your Jose Mourinho duvet set. I tried to warn you. Ah well.

Not in his first season it didn’t. He hadn’t even started at the club when you made that post so let’s drop the pretence that it was anything other than a snide little remark. What European backwater are Spurs playing in this week?

I recall many posts on this forum claiming that Spurs would collapse once our difficult run of games began, starting with City. Yet here we are, in top spot.

I remember the days when getting a point while playing away to a close rival was a good result, regardless of how it came about. Why do teams need to win every game these days to be considered good? Or more importantly why do they need to attack constantly to be considered well coached?

I'm forgetting that when your form does decline you'll be off back to India and we'll never see you again until your form comes back. So i'll be seeing you in February I guess.

Not quite, but there's still 29 games to go, so you may still get there.
Or win the game less that we’ve played. Then we’d be above where Spurs finished. And only two points behind the mighty Spurs. Not too bad given how shite United have been. I’m looking forward to some top level European football this week. Should be good. You can watch as a neutral.

It's probably because we've sampled Jose football and understand how fecking tragic his football brand can be at times. It's depressing shit on a stick football where shutting out the opponent is more important than actually showing some bollocks and having a go. It's effective as I said before, but it's all dull as shit.

Oh you should be happy you're top but also concerned that your attacking football is on the decline lately. I was sick of Jose football very quickly so I respect anyone who finds it entertaining, I experienced more joy plucking nose hairs. You're a decent fan though as you stick it out through the good and bad on here. While Glaston just jumps in when you're playing well to wind people up.

Very fortunate then that you don't need to watch it. Go do something else and watch other games if it's so awful. Meanwhile I'll watch it and be very happy when we get good results.

If I were you, before making too many comparisons I'd wait until you've played City at home and Chelsea away, not to mention away to Spurs,. But hey, knock yourself out.

Spurs have been good but it also comes with a fit first 11, when the going gets tough, a few injuries come into play, don't be complaining about them then.

Oh wait... first sign of trouble and you will disappear.

Or Newcastle or Brighton at home or Burnley away. United have played 4 of the current top 7. Spurs have played 3. We’ve yet to play any of the bottom 3, unlike Spurs. And we’ve been shit, while Spurs have been magnificent. Really should’ve built up a bigger lead. Enjoy that Europa League. Maybe Mourinho could win it again.

The injuries argument must be one of the dumbest in football.
I'm sure United will be absolutely flying if Bruno gets injured and Pogba form continues.

Great draw for him in the FA Cup. Once they will be up by 8 goals, he can sub in the youth players and then claim that he always gave them a chance, and add it to his bullshit list (which included Robben) of players he gave their chance.

Yep and it's why I think they'll pick up too many draws to win a title. Mou's football is generally so dull you essentially have to win a trophy every season as a minimum otherwise the trade off in entertainment value just isn't worth it for fans.

I dont think the result was entirely Spurs fault, for a home side Chelsea were also quite conservative and lacked desire to go out and push forward to win the game. Sure they had a lot of possession, like City did, but a lot of the crosses into the box and I see Abraham and no one else. No runners attacking the near and far post, just a hit and hope for Abraham, who is being occupied by two CB's. With the bulk of Chelsea's team keeping formation in the middle of the park in case Spurs break at pace.

I think Chelsea are a good team, will be up there this year, a draw at the Bridge is a better result for Jose than it is for Lampard however. Lets not forget Lampard did the same sh*thousery as Jose when they played United at OT.

A draw away to Chelsea is not embarrassing, nor is regaining top spot as a result.
Yeah , beat woolwich next week and it means we are getting 10 points from United , Chelsea , City and Arsenal. Meanwhile United has played us , Chelsea and Arsenal getting a total of 1 point , big game manager they said:lol::lol:

It's a United forum. If you're upset people are going to comment on a former manager who has made it a point to not accept any blame for his fialures here that might be your problem.

Can't wait for you to disappear to Nicaragua if/when Spurs go on a losing run.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Mourinho at Spurs so far (obviously, being top of the league). You can talk about shots drying up since the West Ham debacle but on the other side of the equation we've conceded 1 goal in 5 games since, even with Dier replacing Sanchez and Rondon slotting in for Alderweireld. Our squad might be well suited to Mourinho's safety first tactic against teams like City and Chelsea because we have two of the most lethal finishers in the league up front who can reliably take that one chance in the match to score. But we'll see.

Re: his stint at Man Utd, it seemed to work on the pitch until relationships with players, the board, fans and the media broke down down off the pitch, with blame on both sides. I don't see the same pressures encouraging Mourinho's worst instincts at Spurs, where expectations are lower and everyone at the club is desperate for trophies at any cost. Kane, Son, Lloris etc. will run through brick walls if it guarantees an FA Cup, and in the doc Levy as chairman seemed like a good fit for Jose even if he can't expect the same level of financial backing - the transfer window this summer looks to have been a success. The atmosphere seems more akin to Chelsea 2005 where Mourinho had a squad of underdogs hungry to break into the elite.

Will we win the league? Probably not. Europa League commitments make it very difficult, plus Liverpool still look invincible at home. Maybe if we somehow won at Anfield in a few weeks time I'll consider the possibility. But the goal this season is top four and a trophy, which seems achievable. Then if that goal is met build on it next year with a proper title challenge.

I'm not upset at all, in fact I'm delighted. I'm just giving him advice which might help him stop getting so annoyed.

How is it dumb? If you miss 1/2 of your best players, it is going to impact you. Especially for a team like Spurs who heavily rely on Son and Kane.

And, this is not the case for every team?
Why especially Spurs who have decent replacements?
If City lose De Bruyne and Aguero, will they struggle?
If Liverpool lose Mane and Salah will they struggle? They're struggling at the moment without their first choice centre backs. Yes, I'm aware they have lost more than 2 players.
If United lose Bruno and Rashford, will they struggle?
So, my point is that injuries has a deleterious effect on everyone. Your statement is quite redundant.

Fun fact: Bruno and Rasford have contribute to 70% of United's G/A in the Premier League. Son and Kane have contributed to 71% of Spurs' G/A.

Edit: grammar

It's dumb because the same argument can be applied to any team if they lose 1 - 2 of their best players.

Moreover, it doesn't apply more to Spurs than other teams. We have good squad depth these days in all positions, including in relation to Kane and Son.

Yes, it is the same for every team.

I am not talking about 2 players getting injured at the same time.

Spurs may think they have a great squad but Harry Kane cannot play every game. Vinicius is his replacement. Bruno's replacement is Pogba.

Liverpool have been without VVD, their best player and are joint top, in the run, they have been without Mane and Salah.

City have been without Aguero all season so they can get results.

My point was not about 1/2 players, I am also talking about the squad. We have had injuries to Shaw, Bailly, McTominay, Pogba, Martial this season

What Spurs first team players have been injured?

Okay, we shall see but as usual you won't be here to back your corner as soon as results starts to turn, only when Spurs do well.
