Was a great pass for Rashford's break. Best one he's made since he joined in 2017. Most of his long passes have not been like that... Here's hoping he's figured it out and it wasnt a one off.

He is somehow in a weird situation. Maguire and him just seem to be not good enough together, so most people are asking for a new CB to partner Maguire.
Lindelöf might not be the best CB in the world, but I think with the right partner he could offer more than Maguire ever will.

E.g. I think him and Alaba would be a pretty solid CB partnership.

I hope we see that pass he did moreso, especially against teams that press us high. Instead of trying to just pass it uncomfortably and being robbed, one long ball can turn the opposition and make use of our strikers pace and make opposition think twice about pressing us high.
Would love to see that vs Saints as we know they will be doing that against us.

Everyone wondering why he doesnt make more of those passes. How many times has he had a RW that runs in behind? Even Greenwood likes to come short, we all know Rashford likes to run in behind, if you give the CB an option, he will try attempt the ball.

We need more runners when team press us, this is exactly what City and Liverpool do, which in turn makes teams drop and they can play their football.

Agree! And those passes are low risk. If he fails they get possession but in their third of the pitch and we can apply pressure. It’s like ice hockey where you drop the puck and instantly press.

And every time he does it, it will bring some worries for the pressing opponent players that their hard work is for nothing.

This is how Liverpool get up the pitch and maintain attacks. They literally pump the ball knowing Salah and Mane will be in behind, if the ball is not accurate and an attacker is chasing it down, the defender will take the risk free option and put it out for a throw or back to the goalkeeper in which we can initiate our press.

To do that, we need runners going the other way, only Rashford does that though.

Rashford is the only one to make those runs unfortunately. Lindelof has also tried to find Martial in the centre, but along the ground. They have created a few chances. I think Cavani who is very smart player, can make some nice runs as well.

He came across very well on Football Focus today. Nice word about Pogba and seems level headed. Hope he can manage that injury!

We defender very well today. The two goals Soton had done give an accurate picture of the game.

Very good again today. Is it fair to say this is his best period of form for the club? I recall him having a solid run in part of his second season, but I think his current level tops that.

Feels like he’s becoming less passive and defending with more assertiveness too. Huge positive if that becomes a permanent thing (unless it turns out that long-term his flaws become more apparent with a more assertive style of defending).

He said in an interview that he has pain all the time since a few weeks, and the reason is the hectic schedule where there is no time to recover.

he played well, as did Maguire. A good partnership. Maguire vs Lindelof seems similar to Rashford vs Martial, as praise for one, usually means criticism for the other.
Both were fairly solid for me. Only a couple of times I was left questioning a choice or something they were doing but just felt Lindelof was really assured today and seemed to take over the leading of the defence.

If he gets his physicality right, as he did today, and which is the biggest criticism of him, he will be by a margin our best defender, if he isn't already.

Him and Maguire have been doing a decent job knowing when to cover for AWB's poor positioning in the last few games.

I really want this guy to cut his hair Bald once the lockdown opens. Look a bit more like the physically scary version of Lindelof because he is getting better.

I used to think he was good enough to be maybe be our 4th best CB in the long term but he might be pushing it out for that 3rd spot which is not bad when you consider the club he is playing for.

Without question it is in my opinion. I say that as someone who has pretty much hated the sight of him in the team up to recently. Playing very well this last 6-7 games or so

Him and Telles were the same for me today, I'm sure someone will throws some stats in my face but to be honest they both didn’t stand out one way or another for me in this game.

Not a fan of his at all, but credit to him against Southampton, looked good as did Maguire. That was a pacey front line they had and we coped well with them .They've taken stick and rightly as a pair, but they have looked better last few games.

He is getting better. Still has to work at his gamer posture and build some upper body. And sometimes backing up is not the right option when defending. But his best abaility is how he reads the game and keeps calm.

With Axel sadly out of PSG game.. I hope Lindelof is taking care of his back and nothing happens in training. Would have been a good game for him to rest.

Played well again. He told swedish TV before the game that he's playing with pains in his back, hopefully it wont get worse.

Didnt do a great deal but also didnt really do anything wrong. Maguire on the other hand did more but also made a mistake.

I’m going to say he’s talking about pace
Lindelof is about average and Maguire a bit slow, but they compensate with good positioning. That’s why they weren’t beaten for speed by the fastest attack in the world tonight, while much faster CBs like Tuanzebe struggled with a 65 year old Demba Ba. Obviously it is great with speed but positioning and reading the game is more important.

Well they would have been on one occasion at least but AWB played the situation fairly well as the deepest man and Mbappe put it wide instead of playing it across to Neymar

Maybe once or twice, but their pace was not really a problem today.
