Whoever we bring in to replace him needs to be a top level DM. I'm not interested in kids, gambles or feckin' half measures in the DM position.

It must be a top draw DM. It's more important imo than a CB or RW.

Removing his awfulness from the club will only help Ole.

Let’s face it, for all his ability as a footballer, he has provided few great memories or moments in 4 years and he can’t be relied upon to consistently turn up.

So much agro over such an average squad member who has given us so little for such an investment, and in the end, has bleated on and on until he has made himself thoroughly unlikeable.

Hoping this is all done in January and we can close this chapter. It’s sad, but it will be a relief to see the back of him.

Feck that's pure robbery . Fecking steal for 50m
Would you, as a manager, pay any more for him after scouting him for the last 4 years?

Inconsistent, inflexible, error-prone with a bad attitude?

I think the really top clubs can do better for 50 million, and I think we will be lucky to get it with only 18 months left on his contract.

Im 100% ready to let him go. Bored to him, bored to Raiola. Bruno is everything what he could have been. And even more. He has all the tools but he will never fulfill his potential. Mentality is his weakness.

I'm not, but he isn't the one blabbing and saying he wants to leave - he's still trying his best too. If the agent hadn't said anything we would be non the wiser at the moment.

From most accounts Pogba isn't being disruptive but the agent is and that's the biggest issue.
Doesnt the agent work for the player? Of course its Pogba. He could quite easily do a press brief and say the opposite if he wants to stay and sack Raiola for telling lies. The fact is hes just a coward who wont come out and say it himself. Ask to go on the transfer list. He loses money by doing that, but hes already worth a fortune.

His agent has done a cracking job driving the price right down for any suitors, but at the same time surely they're looking at him and thinking, 'do we want to take on the Paul Pogba problem?'

If he doesn't hit the ground running and play excellent you'll start to hear all the same excuses we heard while he was here.

And thank feck for that. The only reason I ever wanted us to hold on to this prima donna is because his alternatives were lingard and Andreas.

Are you joking?

We'll be lucky to get anything like 50mil in todays market.

Consider the problems he brings, and the consistent form he's been in for 4 years. Your buying the name, the brand. Your not getting a very good, reliable footballer.

Clubs havent got money to waste on players who are all hype like Pogba pre-covid. We'll be lucky to get a decent fee for him.

If i'm Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve i'm staying well clear - he's not a good enough footballer to play at an elite team. He's so over rated by our fan base it's beyond a joke

PSG will go for him because they are the sort of club that buys that type of player. Plus the French connection obviously. I can't see any other 'big' club going for him.

To be fair, he is good enough for Juventus (Italian Champions) and France (World Champions) at the very least, so he could still be good for an elite team.

But yeh he is clearly not good enough for us, so 50m would be great deal for us.

No Elite team is spending big on Pogba.

1. They dont have the money
2. He isnt worth it.

Pogba is all hype, his only advantage is his brand. He's a big name and will draw shirt sales - thats it. He's a pretty average footballer

https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/01/bl...iscusses-a-potential-new-deal-for-paul-pogba/

"Remember, he has 18 months left on his current deal, however, it appears that in Ed Woodward’s normal modus operandi, where he likes to tie players down to longer contracts, even if they’re not playing regularly in the first team, in order to preserve their value.

“They’re willing to just take a little hit on their pride and make an offer to Mino Raiola to come in and discuss an extended deal for Pogba rather than risk losing a lot of the equity that they invested in the player when they bought him for a then-record fee from Juventus three and a half years ago.”

Overcomplicating a simple situation. Woodward's Way.

There were several media outlets this morning stating that Pochettino wants Pogba. If this is true (and not fluff) than...

Pogba will most definitely go this summer. It would be a no brainer for him, and....

United would have rich buyer most likely willing to pay out in cash. (As opposed to Juventus who want to fob off Dybala plus cash for Pogba)

Potential win, win in my opinion.

He’s said that he’ll never play for PSG. I think they’re the main rivals of his boyhood team. I mean he might change his mind of course.

If he’s a ‘pretty average footballer’, why does he play every game for the world champions France? To sell French shirts?

The inability people have to have a balanced assessment of his skills is amazing.

I think we'd be in the shit if Pogba left, whatever the prevailing opinion on the Cafe.

VDB would in no way be able to step into his shoes.
I agree partly, he'd need replacing, VDB is promising, but he's not a Pogba replacement for me. Even if we're just focusing on when Pogba decides to show up, it would leave a hole in our squad, one we couldn't afford to not fill.

I’m sorry but this is blind hate. Question his attitude & commitment by all means; but he’s the most talented footballer we have at the club, by some distance too.

Not remotely. Bruno or Rashford is the most talented.

Pogba is good but has nowhere near matched his fee.

Wow, in the shit, from a player who plays 2-3 good games a season.

We could get a replacement which hopefully is grealish because then we wouldn’t be in the shit, I mean we’d be so far from the shit, we wouldn’t smell it and there would only be a slight smell if Lingard made the bench.

As I mentioned in another thread, we have rarely got the best out of Pogba because he's asked to fulfill all sorts of roles which don't necessarily fulfill his skill set.

If we had a proper functioning defence, so that we didn't need 2 players to cover for them all the time, then we could push Pogba further up the pitch to work with Bruno more often.

PSG is the perfect destination for him. Back in France. They need quality in midfield, he’ll be afforded plenty of time and space in that league and his inconsistency will be masked by Neymar and Mbappe.

Agreed.

But, for some reason, we have struggled to get the best out of him. His agent has made life very difficult for him, which has attracted a lot of negative feelings around him.

We don't know what the deal is with Raiola, but clearly there must be some significant benefits for Pogba, and all the other top players he acts for, that they are prepared to put up with the shit show he creates from time to time.

If PSG are really in for him then we would most likely get the most actually possible for him and no potential swap deals like rumoured with Juve.

I think we could squeeze £75 to £80 million out of PSG which in turn would pay in full for Grealish and leave our actual transfer budget plus whatever is added from player sales for a right forward, centre back and pure defensive midfielder.

why he hardly contributes?

I agree though about the VDB bit though, thus far I'm not seeing much in him albeit I don't think playing him as deep as we are is getting the best out of him either (and as I type that I think to myself where have I see that before)

If you think Bruno & Rashford are more talented footballers than Pogba than I’m sorry but football isn’t for you. More effective? Sure, more talented? Not even close.

The idea that Rashford is a more gifted footballer than Pogba is honestly one of the most laughable & quite frankly deluded things I’ve ever read on here.

I agree. It’s a shame but it’s just not worked out & his agent has been a nuisance for some time now. It’s probably best that he’s moved on. The blind delusion in regards to his ability on here is clear though.

Can see PSG selling a few off and getting Pogba in. He'd be incredible next to Verratti with a #6 behind them.

if our scouting is really improving we should have no problem wisely reinvesting whatever fee we get into up and coming players who really want to be here. Let’s close this chapter at the end of the season and move on. He’ll be class for Juve again. No doubt about it. Such a weird transfer. Came to us in transition and looked good but since then we couldn’t carry his poor performances or fully build around his strengths. I guess it’s partially because he’s been making noise about moving for nearly 4 years at this stage. Yet another weird chapter in the clubs Recent history.

I agree and mostly because McTominay will be his successor. People actually think Pogba leaves and VDB comes in over PES poster boy. Not a chance.

Mctominay is a completely different player to Pogba. The difference between them in ability & attitude is light years. If you could combine Pogba’s ability with. Mctominay’s attitude we would have some player.
