Well I also preferred the days when United and Arsenal seemed to hate each other and all that. But those times are over, you see this stuff all the time in the league and in Europe. I am not a big fan of this but it doesn’t annoy me either. And especially nowadays where you hardly socialise outside of your family and teammates this chatting / hugging after the games is the last thing which is currently annoying me about United!

Saw a picture of our "captain" hugging John Stones. Contrasts with Gary Neville refusing to shake Peter Schmiechel's hand when he was at City.

Hate it. Of course people will lazily weigh in and pretend that you must be some sort of angry old school shit kicker to think it, but its pathetic. The league has lost so much of its edge and sterling and maguire giggling like schoolboys with 5 minutes left in a Derby is evidence of it. As for the theatrics of hugging like best buds at full time it's just sad. These guys are probably in regular contact if they're actually friends and live in the same bloody city. Even at amateur level I see guys take about 15 minutes to 'switch off' the competitiveness.

I don't mind it tbh, yes I miss the old days, but this is fine.
I think it is neatly emblematic of how soft a team we have. You can also tell they are not disappointed but pleased as punch with the result.

This is not prime City, they are a shadow of their former selves.

It’s nothing new. It’s like that all the time now in world football. Players hugging and kissing each other in the tunnel before kick off and then at the end of the game.

Obviously being 7th and 8th in the League don't really bother these guys.

Looking for the answers...
Knew there’d be a thread of this when I saw Stones and Maguire.

It doesn’t sit right with me, but many are friends from other clubs they’ve played for or national teams.

Its very alien as United always has that siege mentality under Fergie, but you see how Rio, Lampard and Gerrard have all said how that was negative for England.

It’s clear as day both clubs were playing for the draw. United had 1 shot on target in the second half, and City had none. It pathetic. Passionless football, just a product for TV, not really an actual game with pride to play for. Carrack hugging Guardiola was the highlight. Wasted my Saturday morning for this moribund football.
I know Rhodris shot was poor, but it was still a shot

Awwwww, that’s lovely isn’t it? Everyone having a laugh, giggle, hug and kiss at full time. United were delighted with a point against a City side there for the taking. The mentality at this club is all wrong.
It's ridiculous.

Bruno (the only player in our whole team with a winning mentality) would be smart to ask for a move before he catches the virus.

There’s a lack of proper passion in football these days. Don’t care how Roy that sounds. It’s not just obvious as times like this. It’s obvious during games too

I haven't got any real problem with the way players conduct themselves towards each other before and after a game. Many of them will be international team-mates, friends, or have been at prior clubs together, etc.

However, I expect 100% commitment, intensity, aggression and tenacity during the game.

Just a sign of how football has changed.

Just like their being no good captains / leaders around anymore.

Did big teams used to set up to draw matches that often back in the day too? By back in the day I mean 10-15 years. I’m 30 years old but the game seems so much different.

It's funny because similar people (players) were warm and fuzzy with each other. The two keepers, carrick and pep, stones and big harry and KDB had to talk to Pogba who, offcourse considers himself as KDBs equal. (he did have a decent game though) It does bother me but thats modern football for you.

Off the field most players are friends, especially in the case of our players and City since they all most likely live in the same area. I read a story once that stated that De Gea and Aguero are literally best friends. The players are contracted to play football. They aren't obligated to act like they hate each other for the wannabe tough guys and Roy Keanes on the internet.

I feel like every single Manchester Derby since forever this is pointed out, and yet still every time our fans complain about it.

Get over yourselves.

Agreed. I’m 31 and it’s night and day. The lack of leaders point is a great example.

you're going way ahead off yourself. That will require at least 4 years assuming we spend 200m per year. Else we're setting the manager to fail
And unless the board is changed completely, the manager just can't be successful.

Roy Keane alluding to this right now, and he's absolutely spot on. Like mates who were just out for a kick about.

Pathetic, weak mentality.

It didn’t use to be like that though, even if they were friends. And it was better. Simple as that really.

They share the same city. Go to the same bars and restaurants. Hell, they might even use the same escort agency. Just let them have their hugs.

The team are a reflection of the manager: a nice guy who is just happy not to lose and disgrace himself any further. The hugs and kisses were more marks of gratitude to City for not exposing them.

Best thing about this was Keane's reaction. Soon as I saw it I couldn't help but smile knowing that Keane would be absolutely disgusted at it.

It was better because the quality of player was higher, and the manager (On our end at least) was better, not because of the passhun.

I don’t understand the ‘wannabe tough guy’ angle. I am not saying the players should kick the shit out of one another. But do they have to look so pleased with themselves after serving that bollocks up?

It was definitely also better because of the passion though.

We probably had that much passion because of Fergie, but the point is still there

So pep is also shit? He didn't try to win the game either
City were playing away from home against a supposed big team. I don't think that Pep anticipated United to play in such coward way either so we might have fecked his plan.

City were there for the talking, Psg were there for the taking, Leipzig were there for the taking. Wonder why every top team bend in for us or we think so.

isn’t his football these day (unfortunately)? The days when players “fought” in the tunnel, “fought” after the final whistle, put their heads down in shame for a draw or loss are long gone.
