A thread for horrific remakes/reboots/readaptations of classic movies, tv shows, music, games etc.

This is the most disturbing trailer I've ever seen.

How the hell did they mess that up so much? Just bloody draw the cartoons instead of those CG monstrosities.

I hope there's a special place in hell for every Christmas song that consists of some upper class twat with family contacts in the industry whispering the lyrics to a piano or acoustic rendition of an 80s/90s classic.

City of Angels is a (loose) Hollywood remake of Wim Wenders classic Wings of Desire.

Every recent live-action remake of a cartoon classic from Disney has been a horrible disaster.

More evidence, if it were needed, that Michael Pena will do anything.

Feet up at home.
I would post that Jon Bon Jovi link that was posted recently but can't bring myself to do it.

My first thoughts when I seen this thread, all these slowed down versions of other songs

"Wuccoto yu lie" is not really a classic though is it?

As to the question, I am going to throw this bomb out there: Any Christmas song by Mariah Carey.

Oh yes, definitely this. Jesus H Christ they annoy me.

What was that one with the bear animation last year ( or the year before) ?
Aargh.

Singers keep butchering Tear For Fears classic Mad World too. Aargh! (again)

You're treading on some mighty thin ice you little shit. I'm in the middle of posting my award noms for this year so don't push it.

And the song's called Evy buddy wands to wool the world.

Your words were very hurtful, kind of like MC's voice when she goes into banshee mode, like nails on a chalk board. But to each their own.

The Ghostbusters remake was a totally unnecessary exercise.

All female led remakes are. Just make a normal film with a female lead instead of copying a film where the only change you make is changing the original's gender.

How many times can they do this? They are doing a new pirates of the Caribbean movie now now with an all female cast.

Why can they not just make a new film with a new story with a female cast ?

I don’t know, but it is so lazy. Remakes by themselves are often lazy entities anyway but just switching sex just for the sake of a remake is really lazy.

I’m waiting for this to happen with one of my all time favourite films ... Stand by me.

I never tire of that one. Probably my most watched film I’d say. You could almost imagine it getting remade.
If anything, in the current trend of movie making its overdue, also the goonies

But if it did, it'd be aimed at young women and teens, not at you, and the original would still exist. Remaking, repackaging and retelling stories for new audiences is something with thousands of years of history. It may be lazy, but it's not a new phenomenon.

That may be true, and the fact this happens I suppose isn’t my issue with them in principle. My main issue with them is they are more often than not lazy and soulless things that completely fail to capture any of the appeal or relevance of the original material. Just lazy money spinners.

Why would a repackaged version of stand by me being anything new to any audience that couldn’t be accessed by watching the original? Just lazy and pointless.

See the Karate Kid remake. No doubt a much bigger budget and much slicker but crikey, what a soulless heap of dung that was. Even my kids prefer the original.

?Predator, not the one the one with Foreman from that 70s show (though that was also shite), but the one even newer than that.
Robin Hood with Russel Crowe
Those weird arse live action Disney Remakes. The Lion King with realistic looking lions, what kind of mentally deficient lunatic thought that was a good idea. What's next, a prolonged shot of an aquarium as a live action Finding Nemo remake?
