Very good performance going forward. Could he have tracked his man that lead to the "corner" that lead to their second goal?

What a beast. I can’t believe united fans attack him whenever we don’t do well. Him and Bruno are our top two players and it’s not even close.

In this case he has to score 33 (or more) goals this season in all competitions. It would be quite an achievement
We are on course though. We are 7 goals behind Liverpool and they played a game more, 3 behind Spurs. We are secretly a good attacking side.

Superb today. Marcus took quite a heaping of abuse from Caftards early in the match, but his contribution toward today's victory was substantial and undeniable.

Super touch and shot for his first goal. Fortunate that the keeper made an error for his 2nd. Several good runs. Left foot chance in the first half was straight at the keeper. Free-kick into the wall was rubbish.

What a footballer, when he’s on it he’s pure poetry. At some point in the next couple of seasons he’s going to be our talisman I’m convinced he’s going to put everything together a be properly world class.

There were people angry he's a guaranteed starter in the matchday thread lolz.

He's our 2nd best player. Need Greenwood and Martial to start firing as well.

His decision making is top class.

Despite playing with the same amount of freedom as Martial and Greenwood, it's usually Rashford who dictates the play and it's usually Rashford more than anybody else who has the intelligence to get himself onto the end of chances.

Footballers rate other footballers based on how good they are at influencing the game, and how difficult they are to stop. It's not something an armchair fan can immediately appreciate without having played a decent amount of football themselves. That's why Scholes is also universally loved by his fellow pros.

Rashford is proper footballer's footballer. Forget the videogame stats or the Youtube highlights. What counts is that he can force himself into games better than any of our other forwards. That's why it misses the point when people are overly critical about him scuffing shots at 100mph. It's better to have a player that can get himself onto the end of 10 chances and score 2, than a player who gets himself onto the end of 5 chances and scores 2. But matchday threads will inevitably give the latter a higher rating.

I think he’s in the conversation for the best wide player in the league based on his form over the last year. You can argue about his consistency but his numbers are as good as Son, Salah, Mané and Sterling, and he’s obviously had a horrific injury to contend with. I also think he’s one of the most devastating players on the counter attack around currently.

I gave him a lot of stick in the past for his inconsistency and his erratic dribbling ability, but I have to eat my words and give him a lot of credit, he's turned into some player. If we could get a strong RW to interchange with him and Martial that would be some front line.

Very frustrating player for me. Obviously an Excellent athlete and capable of the sublime but you feel when things aren’t falling for him he looks one dimensional and his decision making is poor which probably isn’t unusual for someone of his age but we should be seeing improvement. If he just stayed direct as hell I think he’d be more effective even on his off days. Hopefully this is the start of another good run for him. We need to get a few more players firing and we will be dangerous. Pogba (my least favourite player) is coming along well for his swan song. Cavani looks hungry. We just need to get one of Greenwood or Martial to get close or to improve on last season and we may actually have a say in who wins the league.

He exploited Sheffield United very well today. His runs created four bigchances for him, tucked away two, plus set up Mason after a wonderful run as well. Several times he let the ball go for a good and simple pass early, improvement in choices. When he’s erratic at this level, it’s like having Luis Ronaldo in middling form.

Wow. I must say Rashford is growing into it now.
Some games you just can see from the start that today he is gonna score. Said to my son that "McGold is gonna score twice" yesterday.. Just a feeling and sadly I was right, but with Rashford in such shape he is every second game now you just now he is gonna score a couple too so you don't get nervous.

He suddenly looks like he is so much faster again. One day he is gonna make THAT run all the way to a magic goal. No though, he is often trapped by three defenders making space for others to run.

16 starts + 4 games as a sub ( Total 1471 mins) - 12 goals + 5 assists; goal or assist every 86 mins.

That's a very good start to the season.

Was he this explosive in the youth team?

or he developed this later when in the first team?

Our best forward, period. He can miss few chances but I can't imagine us without him. Baffling that few here are still slagging him off whenever he's poor.
I agree. He’s part of so many scoring opportunities per game lately that even if he misses half of them he scores the rest.

The first was an excellent strike in rushed circumstances. No time for setting himself or getting a backlift, and caught the keeper by surprise. When he's running like that he's so hard to stop.

Lucky the second one went in but you still have to take the shot to score.

Rashford is very good but a frustrating player.

That frustration comes from his inability to score the easy chances. The ones where he has time and is 1v1 with the keeper.

That is the main thing that is really holding him back.

Yup, there are some in our fan base who don't rate him, needless to say that they're morons.

Looking over my shoulder.
I was afraid that the back injury had impaired his running a little, but that seems like a moot point at this stage. The run he made yesterday where he took the ball and ran past four players, and the run he had against Leipzig doing the exact same thing, implies that he is at least as quick as he has ever been. His best attribute when running with the ball is his acceleration at already very high speeds. You have defenders going at full pelt trying to keep up with him, only for him to accelerate away from them, and he is doing this whilst keeping the ball relatively close to his feet. He's no Martial/Hazard/Salah close control dribbler, but he has that extra gear that trying to nick the ball from him often results in a foul, or penalty. He must be a nightmare to play against!

He plays better alongside Martial because he's able to make some good forward runs without being the main focus of the defense.

I might be wrong, but my understanding is that he wasn't even particularly highly rated at youth level but just took his chance when the stars aligned and never looked back.

Can anyone confirm that?

It makes me wonder what young players might've been capable of the same but just never got that chance.

Shit finish for the third which a lot of keepers would save, wasted a great chance earlier on. He's infuriating. Scored two goals but still has Sunday league levels of decision making most games and he isn't now, nor ever will be, a natural finisher.

This isn’t slating him as his movement is fantastic hence why he gets in alot also having players like Bruno who can pick the runs but he reminds me of Sterling as in he gets so many chances due to his intelligence, work rate and skill but his finishing is a bit hit and miss. I know he is only 23(madness) but even his second goal which was probably are best move all season was a poor finish. Imagine he had Martials finishing.

The hyperbole on here is extreme he is either better than Mbappe or a run of the mill PL player while the truth is he is more in between. At his best he is unbelievable at his worst he can be bad but there aren’t many better his age or younger of course he is inconsistent he is still developing and still young. With his dedication and desire to get better I can’t wait for his prime years he is the best thing to happen to this club over the last few seasons especially being a local through the youth.

Improve the finishing and the heights he hits will be incredible, he is not the worst finisher but it is a area that stands out to me.
