I've seen a few stories/rumours recently, linking us to a free transfer for Ramos.

In deal similar to Thiago Silva to Chelsea, same age, free transfer, both still performing at a world class level, would you take a punt on Ramos?

I mean, whatever you think about his antics, his leadership and presence are still second to none and he's still popping up with important goals.

I actually think he'd be great and even at his age, would easily be among the best defenders in the league.

Thoughts?

If he comes this time it would be amazing. He can play well still, and possibly teach the CB's a thing or two.

He will be an upgrade but only because our CM options are pretty meh. He has a winning mentality and a killer instinct but I am not entirely sure it will translate well to the premier league. His aggression seemed to be stemming from his love for Real Madrid than anything else.

Also, he will ask for Sanchez type money which will be foolish for the club to get into at this point. I don't mind it if we get a Cavani type deal with him though.

We were linked with him years ago. Could be vital option then, even though Cavani didn't seem like a Ole type signing, we made our move anyway.

Shame Bailly can't stay fit. He offers some proper straightforward aggression on the pitch we need at times.

Fantastic centre back and would certainly improve our defence but I would pass. Would prefer someone with a more long term view. I'm pretty sure our scouts can find someone suitable for our defence.

The only one world class centre back currently alongside VVD in my standard. But our project is not just a 1 year project, we want to win lot of trophies for years and Ramos won't offer that but just short team one year, just get Upamecano instead.

Ramos has been the best defender for years. Much better than VVD.

I'd take...but I'm biased as he's probably my best current player playing.

Would take him in a heartbeat given he'd not just be our best CB but also a fecking leader on the pitch but he'll just renew at Real.

even if fit, Bailly is a complete liability.

Ramos has been the best/ one of the best defender in the world for a long time. However, moving to United wouldn’t be the best option for either him or United at this stage in his career.

we All know he’s staying at Real anyway.

I assume that you’re all speaking hypothetically because he is obviously fishing for a new contract.

Don’t do this to me again, I was absolutely GUTTED last time when it was all bluff for a new contract.

He would be great for us, we are desperate for leaders and he is the best around in that respect. Not to mention an incredible player and still playing well.

Absolutely love the guy.

How can anyone say no?

Walks into our side, provides the winning mentality we lack and instantly becomes our best CB.

He'd be an amazing signing, the sort of leadership we're sorely missing at the back.

Yeah think I posted something similar a couple of weeks back about him offering us that same level of experience and definitely help cut out these silly errors.

He would also provide that leadership at the back we sorely miss with Maguire, however doesn't feel like anything in this one unlike Cavani.

Doubt he could perform outside of Spain. I mean, surely that's why he's only ever played for Madrid right? Rainy Tuesday night and stuff..

He's also old.

Great beard though.

Theoretically that kind of experience and leadership would do wonders to our backline but I'd be surprised if he didn't retire at Madrid.

Yeah, wasn't really serious. I think his presence on the field alone would instill the opposition with fear. He's a bit too old though I'd say.

Will personally execute Florentino if he does not extent Ramos contract.

Not this again! Can’t these players/their agents/the media find another club than United to be linked with when they need to extend their contracts?

Two year deal on a decent wage, he would bring much needed character and leadership, not to mention he's absolute quality. Make it happen Woody.

People who dislike him shouldn't let that cloud their opinion of just how good a player Sergio is. He's incredible and I'd argue he could be the best defender in the league in VVD's absence.

Personally feel if Thiago Silva isn't considered too old for Chelsea at 36 then Sergio certsinly shouldn't be at 34 for Utd
