4 english players all linked with transfers away, and all likely to cost £80 million or more . Realistically we can afford one of those players at best - who would you want ? If any at all.

I really can't even decide who I would want most because I think Grealish is pure class already and I think the other 3 will be with a year or two more experience

Rice has been superb for West Ham and looks really mature for his age.
Calvert-Lewin is exactly the kind of striker we haven't got - apart from maybe a 33 year old Cavani.
Grealish is probably the best attacking midfielder in the P.L after Bruno and de Bruyne
Sancho - well, he has been soso this season but was superb last season

Grealish and it's not even close.

We can't keep the ball to save our lives. He never loses the ball while creating chances. One of the best players in the league.

None of them will ever be coming here.

We don't need any of them with Diallo and possibly Caicedo arriving soon.

Grealish would be my pick but we're not spending 100 million on a player who plays same position as Bruno and Rashford.

Grealish no brainer. That swagger, arrogance and ability belongs at Old Trafford. Not fussed about the rest of those.

Use the Sancho money on Grealish and the Pogba money on Rice

The selling clubs will still be asking for 2018 prices...and the buying clubs will be spending 2020 funds.

The two don’t match and like Dortmund did 6 months ago, clubs will be reluctant to lower the asking price...so I don’t expect many big players to switch clubs any time soon.

Great thread. All would strengthen us.

Sancho and Rice fill the biggest holes.

personally, I think DCL or Grealish would be the better fit, and absolutely thrive at United.

whilst perhaps not the best of the 4, I’d go for DCL, as I think a ‘traditional’ centre forward would be brilliant for us, and they are as rare as hens teeth.

Wouldn't pay £80M for any of them but Rice would be at the top of my list. The Sancho ship has sailed with the purchase of Diallo and Pellestri. Paying Grealish would require sitting one of Rashford or Bruno. Haven't watch Calvert-Lewin enough to have an opinion. Rice onthe other hand would replace the Matic void.

Grealish, and you play him and Rashford as your wide forwards, constantly swapping all game. Just because he’s nominally on the right doesn’t mean he stays there. Rashford swaps with Greenwood all the time.

Martial or Cavani up front. Rashford, Bruno, Grealish behind with fluidity. Fred and McTominay holding. Greenwood, VdB and Pogba rotating in.

Has that ship sailed? Sancho is still only 20, and you would think the value would go down with him having an off year. I don't think either Diallo or Pellestri will be ready for starting duties anytime soon.

Think 80m would be steep for any of them , but I think a Rice - McTominey partnership would work well.

Yes I think it has. Given the amount of money spent on Diallo and Pellestri and the fact that Sancho is only 2 years older I can't see United going for him again (Sancho that is)

Pick the players that fit holes in the team the best. Functioning team structure > talented players thrown together.

At a guess I would say that would be Sancho and Rice. Even if they're not the best picks of the four, they're the ones who most neatly fill black holes in our starting 11.

Grealish. Then Lewin. Rice and Sancho are not needed after Amad and our Ecuadorian talent

I'd love Grealish, but I don't see how we sign him when his two best positions are taken by our two best players.

Sancho seems like he's having a rough patch at the moment so I wouldnt pay more than 70M for him until we know its just a bad patch or if his level has a purple patch.

Grealish would be at least 80M, Rice 50M and Calvet Lewin 70M at least. I think we would be paying the "english tax" for them, we should find mora value in another place.

Dortmund fecked up not accepting what we offered. We would have been robbed blind.

Grealish is the best choice. But I don’t think we need him, as we already have Bruno.

Rice would be the most useful and vital option. Matic is almost done, Pogba will be gone too. Him & Scotty could be a solid pairing.

I love Grealish but we don’t have space for him as a starter. He just doesn’t make sense for that much money while we have major holes to fill in the starting 11. (DM & RW foremost)

Im still a huge fan of Sancho too but Dortmund really surprised me with their rigid stance last summer and I don’t see that changing. He’d still cost minimum 80m and I’d rather give chances to Greenwood, Diallo and see how Pellistri progresses.

DCL is definitely on an upward trajectory but I’d rather wait till 2022 to see how his progress goes to be more sure. We can also try and get Haaland instead by then. Cavani will prob stay with us another year so we’re good for now. Martial also needs more time to truly show us if he’s meant to be our #9 in the long run or not.

If this pandemic has taught us anything it’s that every single £ needs to be spent wisely and since we probably can’t afford more than 1 of these aforementioned players in the same window, I’d go for the one that makes most sense and that’s Rice for sure. It would also allow us not to strengthen one of our major rivals (Chelsea) who seem to be building a solid team themselves.

I really like Grealish but the truth is that we won't be able to accommodate him (he plays in the areas occupied by Rashy and Bruno).

I believe we need a striker like DCL. Even though I like Martial, his inconsistency along with the lack of predatory instincts makes me feel that DCL is a necessity for us. DCL has great aerial threat and can hold up the ball too which will be great for counters with our pacy wingers.

Sancho - liked him and we do need a RW, but his recent downturn in form drags me back. Plus I want to see how Pellistri and Diallo progresses

Rice - a classy player but I believe Fred & McT can come good. Will wait till season ends and judge

You don’t spend that amount of money on a midfielder - see pogba - and this midfielder is even less attacking.

Grealish is the only one who is worth that much and he would make old Trafford bounce.

we should go back with an offer of 70m or less . Nobody will give them 100m for him now ( Performance/ Financial situation with covid ).

you love to See it.

Calvert-Lewin is the one that fills a gap in our squad once Cavani leaves but Grealish however is the one I want the most. I hope we see some good signs from Van de Beek soon, if so we'll have a very solid front 5.

Starting Front 5

Fred - Donny
Rashford - Bruno - Grealish
Calvert-Lewin

Rotation

Caicedo - McTominay
Diallo - Pellistri - Greenwood
Martial

In terms of what the team needs, Rice makes the most sense of these four, albeit I'm still skeptical about if he has the necessary technical ability for the absolute top level of football.

In terms of which one I would enjoy seeing the most at United, that would be Graelish. He is absolutely top class.

DCL, while he does look very good, I would want to wait just a while longer to see if the way he looks this season really is his new level or if he's just going through a superb purple patch.

Sancho, I would still welcome here, but nowhere near the prices Dortmund wanted for him.

I think Grealish is gettable for less than some think, unless there’s serious competition from City.

He’d surely push for the move as well.

It's that simple, with Rice in second place. Sancho seems to have gone a bit off the boil this season.

I just don't see the appeal of DCL at all for us, he's not going to play the fast interchanges around the box with Bruno, Rashford or Greenwood. He'd work for a lot of teams, but e's not for us.

Rice. With Pogba likely off, Matic getting on, it'll be nice to have a central midfielder with a half decent passing range.

We might even be able to do a mobile front 4 with a 2 man midfield of Rice - Fred / Rice - McTominay / Rice - VdB. With a fullback like AWB on the right side - it might alleviate the current problem we have on the right side.

For all those saying Grealish, do realise he would be a certain starter from the left wing(where he is most dangerous), and that would mean moving Rashford permanently to the right(for most games).
