Bollocking about fluently.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/talksp...r-league-average-height-smallest-tallest/amp/

United were the 5th tallest team based on average height this past season, and 2nd last year i believe and yet we still suck at defending and scoring set piece. City were the shortest team.
Well we were fourth in the league on goals scored from set pieces -Arsenal and Shitty only had one more and Bournemouth just two so we weren't that garbage... Doubt that had anything to do with height though.

Better than Vidic?

I mean, this is the ruthless Vidic we're talking about. His tackles were hard af. Are you sure Stankovic?

EDIT:
Just watched the video, 2 minutes in I already noticed how often he likes to slide his tackles.

Good stuff. His physical ability might surpass Vidic I suppose..
Vidic was definitely something else. Forwards shat bricks when they faced him. If this guy looks up to Vidic (and he probably does) he has a very good example.
I like eastern European defenders in general. Their no-nonsense style is something I find lacking in a lot of CBs these days.

As much as we need a sure bet, I'd still prefer us to sign someone with higher potential than Maguire, for half the money. Still more risky than just buying Maguire, but other than Koulibaly, there is no sure bet remotely available.

Would be fantastic if we could offload one of ours in part exchange to Fiorentina + cash.
40mil plus Rojo?

He’s a talent but not the finished article. The smart thing to do would be to buy him now and let him stay where he is for a season AND get Maguire. see how the campaign goes then offload the terrible foursome of Jones/Rojo/Bailly/Young. We’d then have a defensive squad of -

Maguire
Lindelof
Tuanzebe
Malinkovic
Shaw
Wan Bissaka
Dalot
Smalling

Probably the best overall pool of players in the league.
sounds a plan (which is a reason why we're unlikely to do it). we're never getting rid of those players this window but two more windows should see a couple gone, while Milenkovic gets another years experience and we get instant improvement from Maguire. Downsides are Maguires price and having to pay those four wages for another year.

Ake is another option (who could come straight in)

Stone pouring cold water on this and the Lemina rumours. Might be a bit of a brief though.

Think I’d much prefer Maguire anyway.
Not the least bit excited about Maguire - because he's already a proven success everyone knows he's a great pick. if that fails however I think this guy or someone like him (a young talent already good enough to jump straight into our starting eleven) is what we'll consider for next. if we're forced to choose second best it should at least be someone who's not peaked yet / is still developing.

Yeah that ends it for me at least. To me Stone is about as Realiable as Manchesterunited.com

Inevitably reminds me a bit of Vidic.
My impression is he s still a bit raw though. I think if he comes, he ll take some time to settle down.

Although I have never seen him play I really hope that you are in right in the Vidic comparison and if we sign him and he does turn out to be anywhere near as good as Vidic I will be very happy mate :D

Is he highly rated compared with the likes of Upamecano and Konate?

Scored for Fiorentina at weekend though they lost (but to Napoli and only by odd goal in 7).

Good header, attacking a corner.

Don't know if we were really interested but wish we'd got him this Summer
I watched the game. He still has a lot to work on. He's great in the air but gives the ball away far too often. One of Napolis goals even came from him giving it away outside of the box. I'd still take a man like Milenkovic ahead of the chicken Lindelöf. At least with Nikola you know when there's an aerial duel he goes in 100%.

I get that, he's definitely not the finished article but I like one of my CH pairings to simply be a defensive man mountain, especially when opposition have a big no.9. Think he'd be good with Maguire and he's young .... he'll learn.

I don't disagree with anything you say I wanted us to sign him myself but at the same time we have Axel which I sincerely hope will replace Lindelöf.

Tentative links to us again in January, i'm reading he's had somewhat of a "breakthrough" season but I've never seen him, can anyone shed some light on if he's improved since we were last linked?

He seems like an old Mourinho target, maybe that's why we're still linked with spurs. I'm not convinced this one's for us tbh, probably trying to get a bidding war going as he's not signing a contract.

Haven't seen much of him, isn't he relatively big and slow? If so then partnering him with Maguire would be a disaster.

He's big and and deceptively quick and kept Cristiano Ronaldo quiet yesterday in a game Fiorentina won 3-0 against Juventus. He's aerially very dominant too which is always a good thing in our league.

His contract runs out in 2022 and he's thus far refused to renew which has got the Fiorentina hierachy worried and he could be picked up for a knock down fee of around €20m.

He’s very tall but actually much quicker than he looks.
He’s young and will only get better. Admittedly I may be slightly biased given I’m Serbian but I think he’d do well in EPL. I just hope he gets out of Fiorentina who have been making poor coaching choices for a long time now.
Good thing about Milenkovic is that he’s played a number of matches as part of a 4 and 3-man backline.

He's good. Not great, not perfect, but he's 23 and hes played a lot but will get better and learn from his mistakes. He would improve our defence

Thanks. Could be a good buy for that sort of money then tbh.

He will be an improvement on what we have, especially the likes of Rojo and Jones who need shifting pronto.
Yeah if we can somehow shift at least one of those then maybe we could go for that type of CB in January

I think he will be a great signing - fast, good in one-on-ones, dominant in the air and is a goal threat from set pieces. He favours the right side as a CB so HM will have to continue playing on the left, which I think is ok. Think his contract is up soon so he is definitely actionable as a target for a reasonable price.
