One of them games where it could have gone either way. Was a dubious pen. Oh well you have to have these games in a season. We could have done with Cavani

We won. That's all that matters. If you win 30 times nobody asks afterwards if you were crap in half the games.

Great win and I'm really proud of the team tonight.

Last 2 victories were very hard fought and we would have lost these games in previous years.

I'd rather wipe me arse with that money than spend it on getting that cnut's shirt.
Mate - just come clean - he's a dirty fantasy of yours with that hair band and barely there shin pads. . It's ok these days mate.

We weren't crap today though. We had about 20 chances!

It was the Wolves game that was less inspired and was a bit of a late steal.

We can judge how good a performance that was depending on how good a team we think Villa are.

On that basis, I think that’s a phenomenal three points tonight, and some of our attacking play was a joy to behold.

Terrific win, we're managing to grind out victories that we wouldn't have last season.

Deserved it though, it would be nice to kill games off earlier because it was nervy at the end but we are looking good going forward recently and Villa are a good side this year.

Bailly was class and special mentions to Pogba and AWB too.

I think we were the better team and should’ve scored more.

That was a fantastic game and a fantastic result. Both teams went for it (unlikely the wolves game). We defended thoroughly well especially in the first half. De gae, bailley, Shaw, martial and pogba all had good games. We need to create this winning mentality. Liverpool still favourites. But 7 points from Leicester, Wolves and Aston villa is great. Its great to be competing again although things can change within a few weeks. Feet firmly on the ground for me.

Gelling of the squad they recruited last season
Solid recruitment
Faith in the manager
Keeping Grealish
Fair enough but from just about staying in the prem to 6th at January is pretty incredible. Whether they’ll end in the top half is debatable but Dean Smith is doing a top job and on a side note if Greilish was here...wow! Great player.

Last season we were 22 points behind Liverpool at this point in the season. Sure, they've not been as consistent as last year, but the league is the same for everyone. Massive improvement from Ole and the boys this season. I'm not thinking about winning the Premier League at all, but it sure is nice not being insanely far behind the top of the league.

Keep up the good work.

What was our points total last season? At this stage, do you know?

My thoughts exactly, Pogbas resurgence is all about making sure hes being seen by Juventus etc to be a model pro; if he turns around tomorrow and says he wants a new United contract Id be delighted but he isnt going to, he doesnt want to be a Manchester United player any longer than he can help it and in that case the sooner he goes the better.
I wouldn't be so sure. The right kind of money might entice him and his greedy buddy.

Loving it, us sharing the top spot. There are still areas to improve but team is progressing. Great way to start the New Year

I agree. My general point was directed at Performance FC. You can tell if Bailly hadnt made that Block and Villa had equalised Ole Outs would be saying we should be playing peak Tiki Taka and destroying Villa. It was a hard fought win against a good team.

Also McGinn was out for a lot of the season and then coming back after that period of time. He’s now back fully fit. I’d want him in a red shirt too.

He looked irresistible tonite. And the football he played wasn’t bad either!

But seriously, what a win. We deserved the win as well. Villa played very well and have some top class players though.

What a tackle from Bailly at the end!

Superb. I don't care if it's an own goal in the 96th minute securing 3 points when we're competing for the top spot.

Other than not playing it safe in the dying minutes, Pogba was exceptional all over the pitch. Bailly, Shaw and Maguire too. Matic came on to mess them up a bit and it worked a treat.

Keep it coming.

Good win. We need to work a little on game management. A few times we could have killed the game by keeping the ball and we made silly decisions (or fullbacks still bombing on). All in all though we played we against a good side.

Great game, and performance. great from Pogba playing like a World-class player the past few games if he doesn't stay at least will get a decent fee. We are joint 1st after playing a game every 2days for the past 2weeks or so and just got the Cavani ban, and people doubting us from the start...even if you hate Ole and want him out he is doing a fantasy job and deserve the time

Well, for the sake of comparing United this season to Liverpool last season, we'd be 13 points off. We're 9 points ahead of where we were at this stage last season. We've improved and our squad is in much better shape. We're basically playing as well as we were post lock down last season. I'm not thinking about winning the PL either but we should be capable of being near it at the end of the season. Ole is right, this group has no excuses now.

Couple of very encouraging things about that win:
1. We weren’t as reliant on Bruno as usual
2. We didn’t sit back and invite them onto us when we went 2-1 ahead. Maybe we’re realising that attack can be a good form of defence.

McGinn and Ruiz, who are not world class, dominated Fred and McTominay so there is still room for improvement. Fred and McTominay were poor and frequently gave the ball away.

Bailly immense once again. Stay fit son and we are in the title race.
Fred showed some great touches but 3 or 4 shockers that nearly cost us. Also really what was Pogba thinking at the end. A truly aweful /lazy cross when it should have been corner flag all night long. Very nearly 2 points wasted and shockingly amateurish.
Truly believe the desire and passion will return if we get in a title race come March.

Great win. With all that has been said and despite the shaky start, we are joint-top of the table! That’s just fantastic.

bailly, what a player. Stay fit please

If someone had of offered 7 from 9 against Leicester, Wolves and Villa over a busy Christmas schedule, I would have taken it. Still annoyed about the Leicester game as I feel we should have won it but it's a good return.

Tonight was always going to be tough but it was an entertaining game and another big three points. Well done to Ole and the lads.

Agreed. Didn’t see any bad performances.
Only player I would mention is Fred. Was good initially but just became so sloppy at the end. Was giving the ball away constantly but other than that it was a great performance from the team against a good side that spanked pool 7-2

There were a lot of pretty decent performances tonight. loved how aggressive people were at times to win the ball back. If Fred could have sustained the first 15min performance he’d have been MOTM no probs. He was good today.

And Liverpool had about 12 more was it?

21 point difference matched up :)
Liverpool had 13 more points at this stage last season. But what do we care? Carpe diem. :)

If we look at the Premier League table since it started back in 92, we'd be cruising. But that doesn't matter now, does it?

Just keep going, and hopefully we'll be there or thereabouts come matchday 38.
