Plays for Brest which should bring out a few good puns at least.

He’s got his knockers but he’s not a bad player and he’s racked up a few appearances this season.

Anyway, now it’s in the press, the deal will all go tits up.

As he's a relative unknown, we may just have to feel things out. As it is, we're just groping around in the dark. But he looks to be a right handful and if he came here, he'd be too hot to handle.

He'd have a right nipple effect on the team and leave the fans with great marmaries.

Boobs.

Or there could be a painful twist in the tale and he could end up at City or Liverpool, hit the ground running and make Woody and Judge look a right pair.

A few teething issues to be expected at some point of course but no doubt the fans will clasp him to their collective bosom when he eventually tits top gear.

A rare time where I am qualified to speak as Brest season ticket supporter, albeit only been to 2 games of his this season because of covid, I've watched all their games. I just replied in the transfer tweets thread but may as well post it here too.

Seems to be some talk he's a winger, but he's a number 10. He is capable of operating in a wide position and has certainly taken up positions for Brest there this season, but he's typically starting at number 10 or another sort of advanced midfield role. Brest have quite a fluid attacking game though so you would see him move around a lot. In the transfer tweets thread, someone mentioned that he looked like a budget Grealish and I have to say that's an apt comparison in terms of style.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much for this as while I rate him quite highly, he's not quite good enough for us at least at the moment. I struggle to see where he'd get games. He would have been an upgrade last season on the likes of Lingard or Pereira as a backup to Fernandes, but not now with the amount of options we have. He'd get lost in the squad. Having said that, I rate him a lot and he's definitely one of 3/4 Brest players that are probably good enough for the Premier League. I'd rate him as the second most impressive Brest player this season. However I don't think he's be any higher than an upper midfield team in the league currently, however you never know if he keeps improving. If Villa were to sell the likes of Grealish I could see Faivre doing well there. Or at the likes of Southampton or Leicester. I see PSG are linked too, and I think he's definitely do well for them as bench option, certainly in Ligue 1.

However as others pointed out, he just joined in the summer. On top of that he signed a new contract over christmas since his star was so positive, so I really don't see him leaving until the summer at the earliest. Selfishly, I hope he doesn't quite leave that soon but he certainly will outgrow Brest. For the money they paid, they got a great deal. Not sure how much they hypothetically would want for Faivre, but they got 15 million out of Southampton just this summer for Diallo who was a lesser (albeit different player) to Fairve so I would expect it would be in excess of that tbh. Unless there some finacial problems that I'm unaware of.

Thanks for that very clear assessment. It would make sense to stay there and improve.

PS: Are Brest supporters called bras?

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of him so I appreciate this!

I'm not clever enough for a boob pun.

While this may seem like an uplifting signing, the team is already well stacked in his favoured position. I think the weight of expectation might force his development to sag a bit. A once perky looking career may end up looking downwards and a bit flat.

Thanks for this. Am I right to say the left back Romain Perraud is the most impressive? I'm hearing seriously high praise for him.

Yes he's having a superb season. Particularly going forward, he's a great crosser and always seems to arrive in the attack at the right moment. Was good last year too, but seriously stopped up this year.

Defensively, it's harder to say and a lot of that is down to Brest's style, it's very forward orientated and so as a result they concede a lot goals (as well as scoring a lot relative to their league position). But I think his defensive positioning is very good from what I've seen and a decent tackler. I've haven't seen any goals that I thought he was at fault for. But certainly where he excels is his forward contributions. 3 goals and 4 assists this season so far.

Thank you. It's good to have opinions on players overseas from those who watch them regularly. I previously thought Shaw needed replacing but he's doing very well lately. Having said that, there are some interesting young left backs around like Perraud, Nuno Mendes, Estupinan and Ait Nouri.

Back to Faivre, all the videos show him wide constantly but Transfermarkt has him solely as a central player. Unusual. I like the look of him but would be concerned that Monaco sold him for pittance only last Summer. Not that they're as well organised these days.

From watching the YouTube footage he looks a central player that can be deployed as a wide playmaker. I believe we have the same profile of player in Pellistri, so I think these links don't make a lot of sense. The source is also known to be pretty bad (Le 10 Sports) when it comes to rumours of this sort.

If he can play at right wing, sign him for god sake!
We already signed Diallo who's an actual wide player. Faivre is not a natural wide player at all. He isn't the sort of position that we need right now.
When watching that video, any one else get any vibes of pre-Madrid Bale?
I haven't watched this video, but from watchin him in games this season. He's nothing alike. As mentioned, he's a central player who likes the drift in a sort of free role and may end up out wide. He's certainly not explosive or has anything like the pace of a pre-Madrid Bale.

I'd say this is a pretty accurate description. He certainly could be deployed wide as a wide playmaker but not as traditional wideman or not as a wide-forward type of role either. At his best starting centrally and being allowed to drift or swap with others, he benefits form a very fluid Brest attack right now.

Simply the Brest?

used to watch Brest a lot in the late 80s.the defence was vulnerable to fullbacks pushing up.
Dicks and Cox would dribble in between Brest cbs

sorry this is obviously all fake Brest news

Looks good technically and probably has some improvement in him. I'd have him here certainly. I doubt we're looking at anyone in this window though. Ole said as much and I tend to believe him.
