"he might be in a bit of trouble". Said about every incident before seeing any replays.

VAR obviously thought it could have been a red card. Neville was right discuss the possibility that it could be given. Clinton Morrison and Jamie Redknapp both said the same thing at half time.

You can't expect Neville to be a propagandist for United.

He was desperate for us to win and so clearly nervous at the end.
Exactly. He's less critical and less pessimistic than about 60% of posters on this forum.

If that's the bar for being anti-United, you could most likely find equally anti-United posts in the last week from the vast majority of the posters in the last couple of pages.

Looking forward to seeing him cracking open some champagne later.

It doesn't

A red would be for dangerous play /being out of control... Getting the ball, even loads of it, has nothing to do with that.

Whether you think it's a red or not (and I don't) you could see someone getting sent off for something like that in a different game.
Except when the foul denies a clear goal scoring opportunity. Which it was, so it’s a straight red, if the play was allowed to stand.

The conversation was about the Shaw tackle.

Brady was most likely going to be a red for sure.

Why are half of the posters making up stuff that didn’t happen haha

He gives as non biased as possible, and sometimes he might be overly critical but Christ he’s a fan and utd legend.

That was the single WORST commentary of his career in my opinion.

He literally got everything wrong, I was more wound up by Gary than I was our poor performance in the first half.

My god he was annoying and inept.

Shaw won the ball but Neville didn't even see it, despite watching the tackle at least 5 times. It was flat out bizarre how he repeatedly failed to see a blatant toe on the ball before Shaw's inevitable follow through.

Well fair play to him for acknowledging it. No-ones accusing him of being Clive Tydlesley bias or even Paddy Crerand bias towards Utd on commentary, so he shouldn’t feel he has to unfairly beat Utd to appease the neutrals.

This thread is bizarre.

I will never for the life of me understand why people get upset over something any commentator says.. Let alone Gary Neville.

Least he's admitted he had a bit of a shocker.

I think he's clearly desperate for Utd to do well, but he's a bit of a pessimist so he assumes the worst outcome.

There's no harm, he's still a total legend.

Is there one pundit who was once a top player for one club over several years who doesnt want to see his former team do well? Neville is a United legend and loves the Club; it hurts him to see United struggle and he is desperate for us to do well. Is that so wrong?

The fact he described Brady’s challenge as “yellow at best” and didn’t seem to take any issue with Maguires disallowed goal. It says it all really.
When did he say that? I thought he said Brady should be of and dyche will be happy it got pulled back for a foul

The way he went on about that Bailly thing I was fully expecting on the replay to see Bailly had headbutted him or something.

Then you see the replay and it's fecking nothing at all.

Neville needs to calm down
He hardly said anything about that. He even said he didn't see what happened until the replay.

He just said the defender was down holding his face

It was absolutely hilarious. I love him and have even defended him in this thread but it was clear on the first look itself that Shaw got the ball . You can argue that it was still a bad challenge but the fact that he kept saying again & again that he doesn't get the ball was truly one of the most incredible things I have ever seen

not for me it isn’t but seems like it is in here, to the point people are actually changing his commentary to suite their own weird agenda
He’s not often wrong for me, and if he is proven wrong, will be the first to hold his hands up

Yea it was clear he missed him getting the ball. If he was saying it could be a red because of the follow through that would have been fine, but he missed the obvious touch on the ball

Did he say "get" or "touch"?

I thought he said he doesn't get the ball... Which he might have meant to mean he doesn't win the ball, which you can argue he doesn't.

Either way, feels a bit weird to be upset /angry with someone because they incorrectly said someone didn't touch a ball.

He did say that also to be fair.
