No top teams with ambitions buy him or play him, yet Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decide that he's worth £50m. Abysmal footballer. Needs replacing. I have said it from day one, can't believe we bought him. What were they thinking?

The was one relatively uncontested one in the second half he just headed 90 degrees into the air...

He gives the phrase "50p head" new life.
If you and I can see this, I'm wondering why United coches can't? I mean, heading isn't that hard of skill to master. I'm not talking about Bierhoff level of heading, but just enough to control where to aim his heading.

It says a lot that he's a target for the opposition in both attack and defence.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
There was one City counter attack where Maguire, Lindelof, Fred, Shaw and I think McTominay were all sprinting back trying to get involved in the defensive action, while AWB was doing his usual jog back despite the ball carrier being directly behind him. And it's not like AWB was completely out of position because he'd been in an attacking position; his starting position was pretty much in line with the others.

It actually reminds me of Pogba. Both of them can do their defensive duties if the ball is in front of them (AWB obviously much better), but if the opposition just play a quick one-two and get in behind them they both just jog back and expect somebody else to fix it.

I like him and I don't believe we should bin him as he would be useful in some games but we need another solid option in his position that offers more in attack and defence.

So Pep finally figured out that getting his wide attacker going one on one with him is pointless, just passing around him, letting him make unforced error works wonder...

Mourinho did the same when they played us, focus on off ball running than take on and he's out of the game,

Now if team starting playing like this, he's useless for us. Just so many flaws in his game.

Many teams have been doing this for a while now, not just the top ones.

I bet his tackling stats are nowhere near last season.

Not tonight he wasn’t. All their threat was on the other flank.
I think that’s when the problems start for him, when he’s being directly attacked I’m quite confident he’s going to cut out the ball or make the tackle, when the balls on the other side I always worry about his positioning and losing his man during the attack

Real Competition will help him I think.
Also interested in knowing whos in charge of the defensive side of coaching

He's the worst player in our starting XI. He needs some competition. Don't know what it is with our RBs that no matter who plays (Valencia, Young, AWB), they see a lot of the ball, are always left open by our opponents and end up producing nothing and killing most of our attacks. I wish we could find a brave, attacking RB who's not afraid of the ball.

Hate to shoot down our players but he is the weak link defensively. Gets caught ball watching alot, his positional play is poor and these 2 things are massive.

You can be the best slide tackler in the world, but if you cannot do the basics of defending then this is a problem. He was never a full back growing up, so the coaches need to work on him. Tough to say this whe we paid 50 mill + for him.

As for his offensive play and passing well......... not good.

He needs to work on his game.

According to this City attacked us more down Shaw's side which is what I saw due to Pogba being moved around. Foden did beat Wan Bissaka couple times but nothing really came off it - the goals just were set piece handling problems which are problems of all our back 6 ( GK, RB, LB, 2 CB and arguably no CDM).

We keep talking about Maguire and the price tag, this guy is probably our worst player now.

I keep backing him, hoping he will improve on things. He just seems so lazy in defence. He always jogs rather than sprint. Always loses his man, his clearances are poor, his positioning is poor, his on the ball ability is the worst at the club.

How Ole keeps playing him is beyond me, I want to see Tuanzebe in that position for Liverpool because I can almost guarantee Liverpool scoring a goal from his side.

He must be one of the worst RB in the league.

There was one switch Zinchenko made from left back to the left wing, and I immediately imagined Wan-Bissaka attempting something similar to our left-winger, and how far the ball would go.

No wonder we struggle to build build effectively when our right back struggles to get the ball off the ground.

Yes it will help him become a great impact sub when we're playing in the earlier rounds of the fa and carling Cup.

The RB position needs addressed again IMO.

I also don’t think he’s got a winners mentality. He just seems like he can’t really be arsed half the time.

We should be looking for players who fight and want to win. The RB version of Robertson, Tierney etc.

I can go into any of the regular battleground threads - Maguire, Lindelof, Pogba, Martial - and understand how people on both sides came to their conclusions...but I just will never understand how people can think Wan-Bissaka is close to good enough for us.

Comically limited player. Offers nothing going forward, struggles in possession, struggles with the most basic technical and tactical aspects of being a footballer...not even a good defender. He also plays in an absolute passion and effort free manner for 95% of matches. Slide tackle robot.

Tell me how he's better than somebody like Coufal or Cash...never mind the elite right-backs.

I completely agree. I cringe everytime he tries something technical - he looks so awkward. Not at all in his natural element. Very limited player and not what we want going forward.

I thought his passing was pretty fine. It's very noticeable to me. He kept it simple, with some good passes. That's a nice improvement, imho.

Maybe
Sometimes some players need competition to help drive them
Not ideal but maybe it will help us and him

I really liked his performance today in the 2nd half.

His passing was really good.

Him, bailly and pogba controlled really nice with some deep passing.

I still worry about his positioning... seems to have regressed since last season
Again, nothing much happened off of it and in the 2nd half it definitely improved.

I guess if Greenwood is allowed to have a 2nd season syndrome then Wan Bissaka should too as well.

There’s differences in expectation between a first choice 50m RB and an academy player.

Massive game required on Sunday. Needs to keep Mane and Robertson quiet.

Well it's his 2nd season at United and 3rd season as a RB in his whole career.

Another game where another team did crap all against him tbh.

Bar say the first 10 minutes where he was clearly targeted felt like after he weathered that spell he was really good. Seemed to play with more verve and intent and had some really nice combinations of play. Looked really confident and up for it. Both he and Shaw just seemed to play with more verve.

I thought he played well bar his schoolboy heading. Played some good passes into the forwards feet second half to start attacks.

Contrast him to Shaw and he's worse defensively and attacking. Contributes massively to a lack of quality down the right side.

I'm not sure about the positive reviews, I'm finding his form concerning and I didn't think he was good tonight either, he was an obvious target for their attacks and it's not the first time he's been targetted like that. His passing was very crisp though, the whole team's passing was crisp, whatever we were doing in training this week seems to have worked a charm.

He was obviously targeted in the first half because of his poor aerial ability. Considering he's quite tall for a fullback he really should be better in the air.

There was a 10 minute period in the second half where he played three very nice passes through the defensive lines to get us into attacking positions, so that was a good bonus. Hopefully we'll see more of that.

No fullback is good in the air against Wood and Barnes pulling onto them for crosses. Thats why they do it.

Any that do fare well against them should be playing CB.

Very nervous of his positioning against far post crosses. He’ll need to be absolutely at it against Liverpool if Trent gets some to Mane this weekend.
