We have 1 loss to those in the top 10 and that was the schdule bullshit to Spurs.
We really shouldn't be losing this game. If they dont sit back against us then theyre done for.

I think they are playing midfielders at CB.
Very good, then their defence will likely be a bit shit, and also if midfielders play there, they don’t have depth for midfield rotation (so high pressing is more difficult fatigue wise).

Honestly I understand the trepidation but we will never get a better chance to go take the game to then and beat them. If Rashford is on his game, he could destroy that defence.

Do you mean they have no (fit) central defenders at all now? Even Phil Jones level defenders?
They had Henderson and Fabinho as centre backs in their last league game let’s hope they do the same Sunday .

Those two are of course excellent players, but hopefully bad central defenders. And Henderson in particular is not tall enough for this role

Really don't know what to expect. Liverpool have all sort of injury concerns at the back which we can expose. Thiago worries me. Can easily see him dictating the tempo of the game. Their full backs are also way more better than ours, especially attacking. I can easily see us going 1.0 ahead but I hope we don't sit in if we do.

Mane and Thiago are the dangerous ones for me. Anything from Anfield would be a great result. Bailly needs to start 100%.

Ref is Paul Tierney and the scousers are already crying about penalty conspiracies. Klopps instructions will be for mane and Salah to fall over at least twice a minute and to claim handball everyone the opposition touch the ball.

Isn’t he a very average defender anyway?
if VVD was available sure - but if the alternative is a couple of youngsters or Fabinho and Henderson, he is suddenly a very good defender

Tempted to say that we play with James, Rashford and Martial - the pace of those 3 will be too much for make-shift defenders

Fabinho has been great as a CB this season. Whoever will play next to him on Sunday will be below average though - it's either Williams who's slower than my grandma or Matip who won't be 100% fit. Could be Nat Phillips too maybe, not sure, but he's not anything special either.

They're still a very very good team despite not having their 1st choice CB's.

All I know is that if our CF's (rashford and martial) play like they did against City and lets be honest, Burnley, they won't cause liverpool any issues. Liverpool will also likely to dominate possession.

We play like we did against City and its game over. I'm not so confident about this game!

I just hope Rashford and Martial will have their scoring boots on for this one, we could cause some damage. Hope we start quick and aggressive.

I want us to play as tough and hard as possible. Bully the feck out of their front line, and shithousery all around. Make them struggle, and get in their heads early.

2-1, with a Bruno penalty and Maguire header.

For once it will be us that is more up for this than them.

Either team is perfectly capable of thrashing the other but the lack of fans will temper the atmosphere somewhat.

    Rashford Cavani
    Bruno
    Pogba - Fred - McTominay
    Shaw - Maguire - Lindelof - AWB
    De Gea

We can't afford passengers in this game, sorry Greenwood, and we will need to keep them from dominating us in midfield.
Pogba and Fred/McT will be kept busy supporting our fullbacks defensively, and if he is fit, we will need Lindelof's composure.

If Ole does his usual 'big six' tactic of sitting back and soaking the pressure against these then it could be a long day. I don't like the thought of allowing TAA limitless chances to hit crosses. We've gotta push high and press very well in this game. Match them on 2nd balls.

Have you watched Rashford lately? He was incredibly lazy against Burnley.
I said this to a mate while watching the game. It felt like he was a kid pretending to be Berbatov for the day the school game.

Luckily, he got the assist but overall it was an extremely lethargic performance.

We need his pace to counter in big games though, just need to hope he can become more clinical as the season goes on. Same for Martial really, if they keep missing big chances we will not win anything. This will cost us more than our defending, I am certain of it.

Frustrating because if we're not playing Rashford from the left then we may as we leave him on the bench as It's destroying him playing him on the right
    You are clearly overreacting.
Yes, it takes smth out of his game, but overall the TEAM looks better, more balanced. It's a team sport.

I will prefer this (overload in midfield) than go back 5 for sure.

Bailly brings pace, which was what Shaw brought to the 3/5 mad defence. If he’s playing we don’t need the extra defender.

Martial and Rashford are horribly out of form right, but they usually produce the goods against Liverpool.

I think Ole will go with the same team as tonight minus Matic for Fred.
I think if Martial is fit he'll play at #9 with Pogba on the left as I'm certain McFred will be the central midfield pairing for this one.

Same formation as against City please, only with Bailly starting ahead of Lindelof and if Martial can't start, then Cavani for him. We need to exploit that really slow CB Liverpool have, can't remember his name, so Martial would have a slightly better chance on him.
Rhys Williams I think. Actually think it might make sense to drop Pogba and go with Rashford on the left for this one. Think Rashford could be able to exploit that space between TAA and CB. Problem would be who plays on the right.

Just saw on BBC sport that Liverpool were 30 points ahead of us when we played this fixture last season. We haven’t lost an away game since then. That’s quite astonishing really.

He was kicking lumps out of Southampton players. Not sure he really is back with the tempo of the PL yet.
Yes their FBs are more progressive but I've seen them just desperately cross into the box of late. Defend well against those fast crosses and it gives us an opportunity to fashion a counter of our own

Drop the player who was MOM against Villa and Burnley? Makes sense

    That's insane!
Just 3 losses in 31 league games since Burnley-gate last January. 4 wins and 1 draw at home in the last 5. Unbeaten away since the Liverpool game.

Liverpool on the other hand are unbeaten at home in close to 4 years. Please, let us end that streak!

Funnily and considering that everyone puts his tactical knowledge down Ole many times picks and chooses his team based on the opponent. And more often than not, gets it right. He will probably and again hit the space behind Liverpool fullbacks. This means we should except Rashford on one side certainly and maybe even James on the other. If Martial can't play that is a bit unfortunate for us, but we shouldn't complain about injuries seeing their luck. Think we could see a 3-5-2 or a variation of 4-4-2 diamond, but in any case, he will certainly try to exploit the space on the flanks. It pretty much worked every time Ole met Klopp so far having an inferior side, with 1 win from Klopp and 2 draws, but every single game was very tight and Liverpool didn't dominate in any of them.

The good news for us is that we are now a much stronger team, while Liverpool isn't in their best moment. I mean just a change from Pereira to Bruno in that hole is a massive one.

The bad news is that Klopp knows about it and in the last game already somewhat adapted to it instructing one of the fullbacks (Robertson/TAA) to often stay back if another one goes forward limiting that space behind.

Dare I say...Ole's first real test?
In some way that feels oddly correct.

Dont think it'll matter much if Matip starts either, having a first game after an injury lacking match-fitness and chemistry against our fast dribblers is really not a good fit.
