To be fair, I've I think he's been good for the past few weeks now. Signing Telles probably brought that out in him (having competition improves you - who knew!?). He's not perfect, of course, and we could still probably upgrade in that position, but credit where credit is due.
We couldn't though, any left-back who has a case of being better than him already plays in a top team.

Upgrade... with who exactly?
Don't know mate, I'm not a scout. I'm sure there's someone out there somewhere. I don't mean an upgrade with someone we already have. He's the best LB at the club at the moment.

Brilliant performance today that's the Shaw we thought we were signing all those years ago.

Done well when he had to go inside to cover for defenders out of position which shows his awareness and reading of the game.

He's a defensive wizard at leftback. Reads the play excellently and makes defending look so easy. MOTM. I thought it was a Maldini-esque performance.

Excellent. Because of his build he’s never going to be slimline but he looks in the best physical shape I’ve seen him in. Bags of energy right until the end too.

I'm sure there's someone out there in the world that could be an upgrade on him. That's a job for the scouting department. Anyway, I don't want to dwell on that aspect. He's been very good for us these last few weeks. I just think looking into the future, we could probably upgrade on him. Not sure about Telles. Early days, of course.

What a performance, by far the best player on the pitch. I mean, how many times did he intercept Salah and played through or dribbled him afterwards.

Very very good, as he's been for a while now. Credit is due to him, Ole and possibly Telles for pushing him on.

Yep nearly gave away two goals. Misplaced a pass and Liverpool were nearly in. Turned his back to trents Cross another one. A liability. One good cross all game for Bruno. I give him that. That's tge only cross he made all game.

Imagine if we had a full back who could both attack and defend

There a reason hes not in the England squad and only has 8 caps. He makes mistakes too often.

The crazy thing is he's been doing this for the best part of a year with such consistency. Don't understand how anyone can still have doubts about him. Offensively he doesn't out up amazing numbers but in the build up he's still great anyway. His touch, passing and dribbling are all very good.

Brilliant today, make some great forward runs and won a free kick in good position. Two key passes today which is most in the squad. Just a great display and our biggest threat, even from his position.

Absolutely brilliant. I remember arguing that he was the 2nd best LB in the league till last season, and he is underappreciated, but I think, his performances mean that he could end up as being the league's best LB this season

Excellent once again. He’s turned into a man since Ole’s arrival. Forget Tierney and Chilwell being able to score once every 5 months. For this season, there’s been no LB better than Shaw bar Robertson. Fantastic, and should be in the next England squads.

Okay, so you don't know of any better options who are available yet you think we should be upgrading? He's been just about the best full back in the league this season, I don't think we'll need an upgrade for some time.

Seriously?

He's been absolutely superb all season.

We will see tomorrow so how great a player he is.

The way your posting hes one of the best full backs in the league or even Europe and hes far from it. Your opinion is right and everyone else's is wrong.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Your opinion is actually worthless as your not backing up anything you say. Have a look at his performances against PSG and Lipezig and come back.

You actually think positioning is one of Shaws strong points. I find that hilarious. He was shocking against city and the same will probably happen tomorrow

Either a wum or an agenda. If it’s the latter, why dislike our best LB who is also one of the best LB’s in the league this season? Do you think Telles should be starting over him?

Grown as a footballer. He reads the game so well too and often doesn’t get the credit for that

Didn't realize that it was such a controversial thing to suggest that long term we could probably upgrade on a player who's been incredibly inconsistent for us since he's arrived. And just because I'm not a scout who analyses every LB in the world, I can't suggest we could probably upgrade in that department? That would only be a logical rebuttal from you if we all assumed that Luke Shaw is the best left-back in the world and the best that we can get. Let's not get all revisionist here and suggest that this guy has been a stalwart for this club since he's arrived.

He's had a good few weeks, as I said. He seems to be hitting some form which he occasionally does, but then loses it. Sometimes that's down to injuries, to be fair. To be honest, I was praising him in my original comment. Thought he was good last game, too. You seem to be overreacting, to be honest.

One of his best matches ever.
He has had a few of these, but I tend to agree. It was a very complete performance and he actually didn't have his usual 5-10 minute spell where he kinda sucks. He was solid all game through. Very good signs.

Don't think he's been superb all season, to be fair. Just my opinion. But he has been very good these last few weeks. He does this a bit though, doesn't he? Has spurts where he looks great, then kind of relapses. Can never find that consistency long term. Sometimes that's down to injuries to be fair to him.

Can't help but think the signing of Telles has contributed to this. He's really upped his game recently.

Most likely, its healthy to have competition and especially someone as good as Telles. We do need that all up the field though as it's clearly working.

He's been very consistent for almost 3 seasons, beginning with the campaign that he won player of the year. It's mind boggling the selective memory you have here. I don't think there's many better left back out there if I'm honest and short of nicking someone like Davies off of Bayern, I doubt we can upgrade.

His composure was absolutely magnificent. What a game - really happy for him and I hope he continues to kick on. I think the arrival of Telles has definitely pushed his performances up a notch.

Could say the same about you mate, to be honest. I disagree that he's been consistent for 3 seasons.
