Did anyone notice how good Liverpool are at suffocating the opposition on throw ins?
What article? Do you have a link, would like to read it.That article on caffeine abuse and not being able to do it more than 2 years consistent is looking like the work of Nostradamus right about now.
In reality though they are looking like they are going through a spell similar to City earlier this season where they are just 1-2% off and missing that final ball.
Our throw-ins are consistently shit (I’d be amazed if there’s a worse team in the league for losing possession on your own throw-ins than us) so I wouldn’t give them too much credit for yesterday, but yes, on the whole, they are quite good at it to be fair.Did anyone notice how good Liverpool are at suffocating the opposition on throw ins?
Two Firmino (who is awful at shooting), one Robertson who is also awful at shooting and I suppose Thiago from distance and Salah who should have shot first time but tried to go through Maguire's legs after 5 extra touches. He said about the game that they didn't finish their chances, like they did against Palace.
What chances, other than the Thiago shot and a few mumbles by our defenders in the box I don't recall them having any.
They have a coach specifically for it. There was a whole article on how it's something that people overlook, but could increase your chances of winning matches.Did anyone notice how good Liverpool are at suffocating the opposition on throw ins?
What you said actually has some logic to it considering the current pattern forming , and of course, whether your conclusion is correct or not (based on a really small sample size), I really hope it is!By the end of January - Liverpool will be out of the top four and about 6-8 points off top spot.
They are going nowhere else and it is evident that they are regressing, not progressing.
They look burnt out. And anyone suggesting their regression is down to an injury crisis... to that I say, injury what-now? They don't have a fecking injury crisis.
Anyway, there is precedence for a Klopp team burning out.
After evolving Dortmund, much like he did with Liverpool (it was a very similar process), Dortmund became the hardest working team in Germany, they outworked Munich throughout the whole of three or four seasons.
In his first season with Dortmund, Klopp finished 6th. Next season 4th. Then they really evolved and had three great seasons in a row, in which they won the title twice. Then they totally burned out. So much so, that by Klopp's final season they weren't really outrunning any teams (reminds you of current Liverpool side) and by Christmas they were actually in the relegation zone.
They survived that season and Klopp stood down, claiming he needed a break from the sport.
His teams run so much that burn out is inevitable. Liverpool are burnt out. I think they'll finish outside the top four this season. And their peak is over.
I am not a Liverpool hater. I respect that football club. I'm a fan of Klopp. But there is absolute proof that his teams burn out... and this Liverpool team have been the hardest working team (and the best team IMO) in England for the past three years. And they are FAR from the hardest-working (and certainly far from the best IMO) team now. And I think their best days under Klopp are behind them.
You could have won it, not really should have won it imo.Henderson is a wanker. Probably gets it from his manager. His reaction to hearing that we thought we should have won it was a little pathetic. I guess creating clear cut chances doesn't make it into his priority list.
We should have won it. Pogba should have scored so we should have won.You could have won it, not really should have won it imo.
Semantics. Teams that could have won games will feel that they should have. He didn't have to reply like an utter weapon, the utter weapon. You could have won it, not really should have won it imo.
Well yeah, given your dominant stretch and best chances were towards the end of the game, I get that most of you probably feel a bit disappointed you didn't nick it. You were very poor in the first thalf though. I thought it was a poor game overall by both sides and a draw was quite fair.Semantics. Teams that could have won games will feel that they should have. He didn't have to reply like an utter weapon, the utter weapon.
I think that's exactly his point. They weren't chances, compared to the clear cut chances we had to win the game. Two Firmino (who is awful at shooting), one Robertson who is also awful at shooting and I suppose Thiago from distance and Salah who should have shot first time but tried to go through Maguire's legs after 5 extra touches.
Yeah, I heard that on MotD too, I thought what a cnut he was the way he replied to the question asked. It's a Liverpool disease, it turns people into absolute weapons.Henderson is a wanker. Probably gets it from his manager. His reaction to hearing that we thought we should have won it was a little pathetic. I guess creating clear cut chances doesn't make it into his priority list.
Yeah, if ever a game between us was deserving of a draw, it was yesterday's game.Well yeah, given your dominant stretch and best chances were towards the end of the game, I get that most of you probably feel a bit disappointed you didn't nick it. You were very poor in the first thalf though. I thought it was a poor game overall by both sides and a draw was quite fair.
Didn't watch anything post-match so don't know what Henderson said exactly.
In fairness Firmino should have scored the one he ended up pea rolling at DDG from about 6 metres out or the other one he could have just laid off for Robertson for a one on one.We should have won it. Pogba should have scored so we should have won.
I agree.Well yeah, given your dominant stretch and best chances were towards the end of the game, I get that most of you probably feel a bit disappointed you didn't nick it. You were very poor in the first thalf though. I thought it was a poor game overall by both sides and a draw was quite fair.

Just a cheap and unnecessary reply. You'd think they had 5 one of ones whereas we were left having shots from 30 yards out. Needs to get off his high horse a bit. Actually I'm happy with them feeling performances like those from them are excellent. It'll lead to a 3rd place finish if it's the case.Yeah, I heard that on MotD too, I thought what a cnut he was the way he replied to the question asked. It's a Liverpool disease, it turns people into absolute weapons.
I dunno, thst wasnt a clear, has to score chance to be honest. Pogba haaaas to score. In fairness Firmino should have scored the one he ended up pea rolling at DDG from about 6 metres out or the other one he could have just laid off for Robertson for a one on one.
First half they should have scored, second half we should have scored. Pretty even game and a point suits us more.
They went on about the marvellous, World class save against Pogba, but he shot the ball straight at him. I could have saved that, assuming the shot didn't knock me overI dunno, thst wasnt a clear, has to score chance to be honest. Pogba haaaas to score.
DDG really had nothing to do. A lot of Liverpools forward play was amplified for us because of the nervous tension.
Fernandes freekick came closer then anything Liverpool could muster tbh and thats like 3rd in our chance list.
Firmino was never even close to scoring any of his 'chances'.Firmino should have scored before that, so that makes it 1-1 then.
Agree that Pogba's was by far the biggest chance, he should have buried that. Right at Alisson though, poor finish.
Already deleted it because I don't wanna get into a pointless argument. Just a weird reasoning - Pogba didn't come close to scoring either because his shot was right at Alisson.Firmino was never even close to scoring any of his 'chances'.
You were impressed by Firmino's performance then? When ever he got on, or near, the ball in and around the box, I wasn't the least bit worried about him scoring.Already deleted it because I don't wanna get into a pointless argument. Just a weird reasoning - Pogba didn't come close to scoring either because his shot was right at Alisson.
Firmino's half volley from Robertson's cross was going in by the way, I think, if not for Maguire's block that he didn't even mean.
Whenever he got the ball in and around the box I was worried about him not scoring He was poor (our whole front three was), hopefully Jota will be back soon to replace him.You were impressed by Firmino's performance then? When ever he got on, or near, the ball in and around the box, I wasn't the least bit worried about him scoring.
Mane, Salah and Firmino have only ever scored 1 goal each against us. Yesterday, not even a single shot on target from any of them.Crazy start is that Mane and Salah scored plenty of goals vs big six. Against United they scored like 2 combined.
I know you’re a Liverpool fan, but as an outsider I have to say Firmino looks shot to pieces. He’s literally a passenger in the team. I would actually relax whenever the ball came to him cause he offers no threat at all. Obviously, I hope he stays in the Liverpool set up for a long time to come.Already deleted it because I don't wanna get into a pointless argument. Just a weird reasoning - Pogba didn't come close to scoring either because his shot was right at Alisson.
Firmino's half volley from Robertson's cross was going in by the way, I think, if not for Maguire's block that he didn't even mean.
Nah that's wrong, Firmino had a (poor) shot on goal yesterday, saved by De Gea.Mane, Salah and Firmino have only ever scored 1 goal each against us. Yesterday, not even a single shot on target from any of them.
I love a good team and I've watched Liverpool a lot over the past three years, the past year and a half I've aways thought if you took out VDK and TAA you lose that VDK to TAA pass and because you tend to skip your midfield, I think personally Klopp has lost in fecking mind.. Pointing fingersWho's here to entertain you? We're talking about playing well vs playing shit. We had not been playing shit for two years running as TAA, Salah and Mane were on nearly everyone's (yes even Redcafe) list of first XI players.
We're playing shit now though as I wish these three don't take the pitch next game.
I don’t count anything by Firmino as a shot. It goes down as misplaced pass and possession lost.Nah that's wrong, Firmino had a (poor) shot on goal yesterday, saved by De Gea.
Pointless having a discussion with you if you're just gonna deny the actual stats, then.I don’t count anything by Firmino as a shot. It goes down as misplaced pass and possession lost.
Ok, let’s include firminos pass back. The point is, the whole attack was non-existent. Just like the previous 2 games.Pointless having a discussion with you if you're just gonna deny the actual stats, then.
He wants exactly that.I love a good team and I've watched Liverpool a lot over the past three years, the past year and a half I've aways thought if you took out VDK and TAA you lose that VDK to TAA pass and because you tend to skip your midfield, I think personally Klopp has lost in fecking mind.. Remember this was the best team the world has ever seen not so long ago.
People moan about injuries but seem to forgot Pogba, Martial and Rashford injuries last season.
Also the benches yesterday where very telling, our squad is starting to look much better - which needs to give Ole a big tip of a hat for;
James Milner and OX are seasoned players on yours?
Klopp is massive bellend, moaning about the other teams setup, what does he want - teams to let Liverpoo walk through them?
Liverpool are just Burnley with better players, there I've said it... Klopp you moaning little gnatt
He’s trying to release some pressure on them. He’s recognised that they don’t have the superior mentality of champions anymore and he wants a return to that “underdog” position.Interesting to see Klopp now saying they are in a fight for top 4!
That they were robbed because the ref blew the first half whistle when the ball was in the centre circle. Scouse logic is that Mane was clear on goal, completely ignoring the fact that Lindelof stopped running the moment he heard the whistle. What did Henderson say?
