How the feck is this guy worth €30M. He's 23, barely played for Chelsea, only played 1 full season of football, at Derby last season.
It's an option to buy. He's not worth €30M, unless he proves it, at which point chelsea get a decent fee for him
Yeah, that has already happened this season. What this does mean, however, is that Milan might actually be serious about buying Diogo Dalot from Manchester United. With this sale + the fact that Dalot is still young, we might be able to fetch a decent fee for him.
If by decent you mean €5-10M, maybe
I'm not really sure what VDB is, tbh.

No offense, I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling in case this is one of you guys just trying to make a living, but this sure does sound like a terrible, indiscriminate quasi- spam aggregator account. Eriksen and Ings, really? What utter nonsense.
No idea about the other source but I think the athletic are supposed to be reliable.

He is a Wijnaldum type of player. I don't understand why we don't play him the same role Wijnaldum is playing for Liverpool.
Wijnaldum plays the safety valve/tactical balancer role for Liverpool. Basically his job is to keep things ticking and plug holes whenever they appear. He can do it because he's both good at it and because liverpool aren't losing out by playing him in such a purely tactical, limited role

I'm not sure VdB can be that kind of player. I also don't think he should be, given his value as a goalthreat

Ings would be a good signing, not sure why people are saying no

DVB played a tactical role against RBL and he played well. Wijnaldum is a big goal threat which is shown when he plays as AM for Netherlands but plays a specific role for Liverpool which allows them to keep possession and help other attacking players play the game better.

With a year left on his contract in the summer he'd be a great signing for around £15m, would Southampton let him leave for that amount is the question, I remember us being quoted £40m+ for King last January who was in a similar situation.

Thats a good question, one to watch. For a decent price would be a no brainer

Hopefully we dont go down the road of favouring squad/back-up options over first team ones.

The first team still needs atleast 3 quality players.

Ings would be an excellent signing till we can find the right long term number 9.

January and summer are very different.

I actually meant a move in the summer, no way Ed could get this done before January ends.
Yea, I was referring to your comparison between price quoted for Joshua King (in January with his team fighting for PL survival and him being a key forward) - and the price speculated for Ings in the summer.

No need for Ings, Cavani will get us through next season too.
As in you want to go into next season with our current striking options?

I'll be honest, I'm baffled that people are willing to settle for what we have. unless Martial turns it on for the rest of the season, but even then I'd have my doubts it would be the sign that its finally clicked for him. I thought it had the second half of last season and well you know what's happened since.

That's fair enough, totally get why Bournemouth did that, but it clearly demotivated King and they ended up in a pretty bad situation, and I could see Southampton doing the same thing this month (if we were to actually go for him).

I really don't see how. He's on a par with Jones for injuries.

Just a waste of cash. Like Ole said in the last presser (and previously) we sign players for the long term, no short term solutions.

I would steer well clear of him. We have Cavani next season anyway. Spend every single penny on Haaland.

Yea they will, and they should. It would have to be summer.

Adding Ings doesn't help our striking options in my opinion. If Cavani goes and we're looking for a short term option then fair enough assuming Martial and Cavani stay and we don't sign a top no.9 I really wouldn't see the point in going for Ings.

Yeah I'm not cheerleading for Ings specifically with much intensity, it was more a general point.

That's fair enough, I do wonder who we're looking at because apart from Haaland I'm not sure of the other top options.

Ings is a terrific striker, it's mind boggling how many posters would pass on him. His individual performances and ability to build chemistry with pacey players around him is actually brilliant. He's a a strong finisher, has top movement and very well polished hold up play. He'd be a top signing if we moved for him.

Don't we? :smirk:

Edit; we have an option to extend for 1 more year. Why sign an inferior, stop-gap, player like Ings when we already have Cavani as our stop-gap no 9?

Listen I think Ings is great on his day, but he's perma injured. I've no interest in a physio table signing.

He'd cost a fortune and be backup. What's the point?
Not so sure he would cost a fortune with 1 year left on his contract and him pushing for a move. Point is he would be a better backup than Cavani and might even be better than our first choice at times

He really wouldn’t. He’s done well under Ralph but he’s still not top class...good but nowhere near Utd class. He’d struggle with the expectation IMO. Great at clubs like Southampton and Burnley. Surprised a club like West Ham don’t move for him

Have to agree. His all round game has come on hugely, as well as being a terrific finisher. I'd be up for gambling on him.
