Who's better at cynical fouls? Fernandinho or Thiago Alcantara?

Could we get a poll?

Fernandinho has been the king of cynical fouls these past years but it seems a new challenger has emerged.

For me the King has been dethroned yet

Fernandinho is a master
Thiago has got away with some even when sliding which is impressive

Ferna easily, he knows exactly where on the pitch he won't even get a booking and when he gets a booking it's often late in tight games ensuring the attacking team don't get an advantage, he's brilliant at it

I simply cannot understand how refs allow it.

There was a fecking documentary that shows Pep telling them to do it but refs still are lenient with them.

I don’t know what’s more tedious in modern football. VAR-discussions, xG nonsense or fans crying about opposition players getting away with supposed murder - at the same time failing to point out or see our players doing exactly the same. Zzzz... central midfielders have always and will always see most of the ball in non-dangerous areas, tackles, challenges and incidents are much more common without yellow cards. McTominay and Fred kick down players all the time, nobody on here mentions it - but I would bet my inheritance it’s mentioned on 19 other forums belonging to other Premier League clubs.

A tactical foul is a tactical foul. It doesn't matter where on the pitch it's committed. It's not a skill more incompetent officiating.

Van Bommel was amazing at it too especially at the World Cup.

Still trying to get over that game a few weeks back when OGS was practically telling Matic as he was coming on to start kicking some of our players to disrupt play, first one he completely takes out Grealish, then does a similar one two minutes later.....and then gets booked right at the end for delaying a free kick. Weak reffing....anyway.

I've always rated Matic anyway before some start but that was proper hatchet job and bet he couldn't believe he got away with it.

You were all loving it here as any fan of club that wins game would

Actually think one of the worst is Xhaka for constantly fouling and of course he's not bright enough to stop when he's on a yellow. Spurs also turn into a foul machine when they go 1 up in games with the players they have and so give away loads of dangerous free kicks around the box.

It's an art really to make sure you just clip someone on halfway line before counter attack is full developing as ref rarely books for those sort of offences unless it's about the 5th from that player compared to tripping someone when he's 30 yards out centrally.

Once again - the answer has to be OGS - still responsible for the most cynical foul in the history of the Premier League :)

Refs are poor.

It was amazing how many Thiago got away with last night that weren’t even disguised or meant to look accidental. There were at least 2 that were clear yellows but he didn’t get booked for either.

Yes Matic lumped Grealish 2 or 3 times when he came on so it was clearly an instruction, even then we couldn’t stop him, had an awesome game.

Tough call. Really can’t choose. And frustrated me a lot when they used it against us, killing our counter. Although in my Sunday league football, I’m very good doing it too, my team mates keep asking how the feck I haven’t got a red or only one or two yellows per season

Tactical fouls are always clever when your team does it, and dirty/cynical when the opponent does.

Yeah but he owned up to it. Was half way off the pitch before the ref had pulled the red card.
Still the most cynical foul ever made - to run 50 yards with one goal in mind, to bring the opponent down. That takes some beating haha

Oddly, Fernandinho was just a liability with this sort of thing when playing for Brazil. Often looked out of his depth, charging about giving away free kicks all the time.

Fernandinho is Ballon d'or level at tactical fouls
