Raiola: "I can say that it's over for Pogba at United"

What makes you think that?
Financial instability of Barca and Madrid, coupled with lack of need from Bayern. Juventus probably won’t be able to allow Pogba as well and they have like 10 CMs. Who else? PSG is too weak a league for Pogba liking, only EPL remains

We might have wanted to keep him in previous summers, but this year we'll be actively trying to get rid. No need for Pogba/Raiola to kick up any more of a stink in the press when everyone's on the same page.

It's a win-win for all concerned really. Decent fee for us, decent move for him and hopefully some good performances in the interim 'shop window'.

The only possible spanner in the works is COVID. The financial impact on the top clubs has been significant - Madrid and Barca appear to be broke, Bayern aren't likely to be interested, Guardiola doesn't deal with Raiola clients and Pogba wouldn't fit in Klopp's system. Juve or PSG are probably our (and Pogba's) only hope.

we bought another player who took us to the top of the table in 6 months. So Pogba is only of use once that hard work is in place and done by other players?
Yup. He's what used to be called a fair weather player. If the team is functioning, he will enhance it. If it isn't he's not the player to fix it.

In the expectation that we are going to continue to be a functioning team under Ole, I hope he stays. What we should not do is try to "build the team round him". He isn't that type of player at all.

Juventus is where he’ll go. He’ll stay if it’s between us and PSG. Madrid have other positions/targets of priority — Zidane will probably go too.

... to Juve perhaps, with a demand that they get Pogba for him.

We could do worse than the mooted swap deal involving Bentancur plus cash for Pogba (with the cash going to assist in funding the acquisition of a decent right winger).

Is it a win for us? If anything, this season/last month has showed us that we need Pogba still. Brunos form has dipped and Pogba is picking up the slack.

Assuming he goes... where to?

Madrid doesn't have the money they used to available, with Bernabeu renovation, and if the're looking to bring a galactico, i'm sure Mbappe would be the priority. Plus, Modric renewed for one more year, so the core of Kross, Modric, Casemiro and Valverde will make Pogba not a priority next summer.

Juventus surely would love to bring him back, especially with Pirlo in charge, but i doubt it they'll be willing to pay more than 50m for him. They could wait one more year to bring him as a free agent, something they are used to.

PSG is the real possibility, given they have unlimited money and need a CM. Plus, bringing Pogba and maybe Messi, could persuade Mbappe to stay.

I'm not rulling out a man-u turn here, given that we're now title contenders and Pogba is a starter and more motivated than ever to win here.

We need to replace him with a quality midfielder.
As evident over the years, Pogba's form is really not reliable. He goes into this up and down cycle all the time.

If we get a sizable fee for him in the summer and good performances in the interim, then yes, that's a big win for us in the current circumstances.

Yeah I think he’s working much better in a team that doesn’t solely rely on him to succeed. Add a top class right wing, central midfielder and central defender and I see us being a lot more functional with plenty of depth and then perhaps Pogba finds his comfort level.

I’d rather just get a large sum of money if he’s leaving. No trade deals.

There is simply no way you can deny that the team was drastically improved before Bruno.

In the past season the following happened before Bruno came:

1. Maguire and AWB were brought in and became immediate starters, showing that they offered much higher quality
2. Dan James was brought in and he offered some initial quality
3. Fred settled and became a mainstay unlike the forgotten man he was the season before, showing that he had genuinely improved
4. McTominay matured

The team Bruno inherited was dramatically improved and you don't need to look much further than the opening day thumping of Chelsea to find the evidence. Why did that form not continue? Pogba and Martial got injured at critical periods and their replacements were far too inferior. What Bruno added was simply a player who could replace some of what Pogba brought, reverting the team back to those levels.

You can't ignore what Pogba has brought to this club in the past four years:

Europa League win
The League Cup
2nd Place from 6th place

While playing alongside Fellaini, Young, Perreira, and Lingard.

I know the source is The Mirror but maybe there’s something in it, with the pandemic killing clubs financially and no one looking to pay big fees added to a resurgence from us maybe he thinks we’re finally on the right track ?

If nothing else the past few weeks has shown that Fernandes and Pogba CAN play together so if we put a pure out and out defensive midfielder who’s job is simply to shield the defence and do the dirty work for Fernandes and Pogba to do their thing it could work brilliantly and before anyone says it neither McTominay or Fred are pure out and out defensive midfielders nor will they ever be.

If he maintains this level of commitment and drive I will back him staying 100%.

Thought there was no way back for him but he’s really gained my respect back by the way he and Ole/the club have handled the whole debacle.

Beat thing he can do for his career is to sign a new deal and sack Raiola.

he’s not sacking Raiola. He will get a nice commission on a new deal, so I’m sure he won’t mind.

For how much would we sell Pogba? Assuming we manage to sell him for 70m, Rice would cost that amount, perhaps more, and Grealish would cost around 80-90, so Pogba's replacement probably will cost more money than we'll get by selling him.

It's cheaper to just keep him and buy a DM.

Bruno, Pogba and Rice would be tasty.

If PSG were to land Messi, PSG would become alot more of an attractive destination for alot of players. Pogba included i think.
Of course not. There are no players of significance in Messi team, by definition - there is only Messi, no one else matters. That’s not what Pogba wants

I don't think any club will pay the fee you want plus the wages Pogba wants this summer. Clubs are still reeling from the financial impact of the pandemic and to the extent they're ready to spend again, it won't be for a then 28-year-old midfielder whose commitment has wavered at times and who wants 350-400k per week for the next 4-5 years on top of a 50m+ transfer fee.

PSG was the potential exception but I honestly can't see him being a choice for Poch. Leonardo may have ultimate control over transfers but Poch will certainly have some say in the matter and the one thing he wants out of all his midfielders is commitment and hard running.

In the end, Pogba and Raiola will do what nets them the most money. That's most likely going to be signing a massive new deal that keeps him at United for another 4-5 years at 350-400k per week or leaving on a free and signing a massive new deal elsewhere in summer 2022 on similar terms with a nice signing on bonus.

How about a Pogba/Ronaldo swap deal? Would people like the idea?

The only way Pogba will be sold is in a rare player swap with an incoming player that WE want, meaning we do not want a few random washed up 32 year olds in return.

Juventus - De Ligt, they will have to give up an asset like that.
Dortmund: Pogba plus cash offer for ?????
AC Milan: Theo Hernandez?
Real Madrid: Offer Nothing
PSG: Offer Nothing
Bayer Munich: Dream On
Man City: Straight Cash deal and Pogba wouldn't care one bit.

I don't think there's a suitor who can afford him other than Bayer and Man City, so therefore I think he will stay.

There's obviously a few possibilites here.

1. Raiola was talking shit and Pogba finally found form enjoying playing in a better United side

2. Raiola was talking shit and Pogba is currently gunning for a better contract, in which case we'll probably see a regression

3. Raiola was telling the truth and Pogba is putting himself in the shop window

At the risk of being negative, it feels like the last two are more likely to me.

Should give this to Ole. The way he watered down Raiola quotes and turned the player into performing at his best when we all thought it was a lost cause.
