He's absolutely clueless and can barely articulate even the most basic point.

At first he was incredibly biased and too emotional during City matches. But since then, I've noticed an improvement. I'm warming to him, he's light hearted, positive and funny. He brings a lot of energy that is needed on Super Sunday. There's some lethargic pundits on there so he brings the show to life and doesn't take himself too seriously.

It's that infectious smile and permanently happy disposition that people adhere to.

He's the type of guy you could walk up to in the street and offer a full-blown hug, and, despite the awkwardness that comes from a complete stranger offering you a hug, he'd gladly return. After bursting into uncontrollable fits of laughter most likely.

Then turn you over and butt r**k you while laughing hysterically

UK, hun?
Yep makes complete sense IMO. It's already bad enough that they get bombarded on their social media platforms after a bad performance, but then to have these popular youtube shows destroying them for clicks, it's definitely a poisoness attitude to have. Is it any surprise that since AFTV got popular Arsenal have crumbled?
Correlation is not causation. The confounder is that Arsenal made some very large missteps for several years now, long before AFTV blew up. Footballers are always, always going to be in the media spotlight, whether that's on social platforms, in the press, pundits etc. Narratives are constantly being shaped. It comes with the territory of being an elite level footballer.
I'm just curious, what profound insights are other pundits providing?
Neville and Carragher offer decent insights and articulate their points well.

Liked him ever since he was singing "It's Carrick, you know ..." when getting off the City team bus. Nice bloke. Fair. Funny. Dont see why anyone would have anything against him.

I think he's from the Rio Ferdinand school of punditry where he makes a million grammatical errors in a sentence but gets the point across fine.

Bollocks. The majority of people like carragher and he's a scouser.
Now that is bollocks. I don’t think a single person here likes Carragher. I may agree with him at times, but I don’t like anyone who’s ever played for Liverpool. Simple, and I don’t think many people here do either. And as someone else said, he literally spat on someone and inadvertently lobbed it on to a 14 year old girl.
I think Keane just puts up with him as he knows he’s a loud mouth without anything to really back it up, kinda like the class clown. Keane’s hardly there knee slapping and laughing cracking jokes with him
All I’m saying is, Keane laughs far more around Richards than any of the other pundits. He just had a laugh with him yesterday when Richards mentioned David Silva after saying he wouldn’t. They’re clearly good mates as he doesn’t do it with the rest of them.

I see what you did there, with your lack of commas.
Nice one.:wenger:

I like him. He's enthusiastic, charismatic and at least a knowledge as the usual bland ex pros they get on.

He's also one of the few they get on who can tell when Keane is joking or being serious.

A lot of people seem to appreciate that he can be self deprecating. I think that works better when you're not absolutely shit at your job.

it’s a meaningless debate or whatever you want to call it but I’d counter your last point about them being clearly good mates as Keane says stuff to him he wouldn’t say to others, that’s because Richards is the class clown and can be called out on stuff and poked at because he doesn’t take himself seriously, he can’t take himself seriously can he.

I really enjoyed him being a non-stop punching bag for CBS when they were covering the champion's league. Even the host and Roberto Martinez were ripping him a new one with the zingers. He's a good sport but you can tell he was annoying them a bit.

I don’t mind him as a pundit. He is more objective now I feel. Not sure if anyone can dislike the guy to be honest. I can hear his laugh while reading his name

Next time I see him bobbing around Manchester, I'll make sure to test this theory with a really, really long hug. Might go full boa constrictor on him.

Any Tom Dick and Haary can become a pundit now, you just have to be an ex player of a known club and have some connections in the media. All these ex player pundits are absolutely clueless and talk like an average poster at CAF or RAWK.

Didn't really take much notice of him when he "burst on the scene" as a pundit, but the Roy/Micah double act should be a future roadshow.

True, but at the same time, these are the sort of guys who are easier to make friends with.

I like him, Keane and especially neville were essentially writing city off against united and he offered an objective viewpoint that it was very early in the season to which I felt made Gary actually backtrack a little.

I find him genuine, relaxed and humorous, like an Ian Wright who has that likeable energy but with very good analysis skills.

I actually think he's found a happy balance whereas Gary seems to only want to bash united but who knows Gary's maybe doing that with a secret motive of keeping united players engaged, because if im a player and united are doing well and i'm still getting bashed by a legend it would drive me to do better, helps with the siege I think.

Him and Keane together are brilliant - the best pundit-couple after Neville and Carragher

Still not his biggest fan (wish him a speedy recovery etc.), but he is showing faint signs of improvement.

Back when Shearer first started doing punditry he was absolutely dire, but he has now become just about watchable. If Micah can reach that lofty goal, he'll have done well.

I don’t mind him. He can be entertaining. Much better option than Souness and Redknapp.

But my god, he doesn’t do a very good job of containing his Man City bias. Everything City do is “amazing and out of this world” and he’s always “disappointed with Utd today”.

To make punditry interesting you need to have a good rapport between them or have a joker in the pack. BBC have it with Ian Wright (His chemistry with Shearer and Lineker), BT Sport have it with Rio and co, Sky have it with Micah and Keane or Neville and Carragher. In a relaxed format catering for an audience that isn't just hardcore football fans you want to have a balance between football analysis and banter so to speak and he brings it.

Thats what annoys me. In the middle of the game at Anfield hes talking about City winning the league when Utd is drawing at a ground thst City get annualy bent over at.

He wasn't wrong though in the context of Burnley going there and getting a result.

We were disappointing with our final passes against Liverpool and should have won. A City side with KDB goes there and wins quite comfortably at present IMO
